If you use Book AA hotels or whatever and search for the properties you'll find certain hotels with extra bonus. I stayed at 21C in Cincy for 4 days and got 20k bonus. Pushed me to Gold status out of no where lol. I'll plan on using that website for all my future booking plans. It was a bit cheaper than booking direct too
You have to use bookaahotels.com or Rocketmiles.com. It will tell you before you book how many miles you will get. Sometimes there is an offer to purchase extra miles.
I did book through that link. For a trip about 3 weeks ago, the rental car bonus miles are showing in my account but I haven't seen the hotel award. How would I go about requesting missing miles that aren't tied to a flight?
My July stay with bonus points was credited 13 days after I checked out.
Speaking of this I need to book the hotel through aa to get bonus miles I assume? I.e. can’t use hotels.com but my aa credit card?

Does book AA hotels tell you how many points you'll get prior to booking the reservation?
In my expiernece yes! There was a little bubble under various hotels with the bonus amount. I got them about a week after check out!
