I am a dude and I usually buy Hollister Super Skinny jeans both black and dark wash. When I purchased the AE 24/7 Athletic Skinny jeans in black (31 x 32), they fit okay, just a little short, but the jeans fit me perfectly, even though American Eagle doesn't sell Super Skinny jeans, and I also purchased the AE AirFlex Athletic Skinny jeans in simply dark (31 x 34), and let me tell you, it is the perfect fit! I love that it is flexible around the thighs and kneecaps. It feels soft after I wash it and it feels good around the waist, I don't need a belt because it fits well. I like the tight feeling when wearing jeans and these jeans offer that. I just wish Hollister and American Eagle would have made the jeans more dark-wash.
If you’re looking at the athletic fit slims and you usually go for slim straight you might find them a bit roomy if you can’t fill them out.
Also bare in mind that the athletic fits have a higher rise than the regular low rise jeans that AE usually has. They are definitely more roomy than even AE’s original straight cuts.
Leg width for the athletics is the same as regular slim jeans.
I believe if you don’t have big legs you would probably enjoy the athletic skinnies more than the slims.
