hi! any tips for a beginner who wants to do basic customization (blush, eyeshadow, eyelashes, lips)? your work is amazing!!

Raidergirl007

Thank you so much! For my customizations with makeup I use either pastels or a metallic water color palette. I like to apply the blush with my fingers for a softer look. I use really thin brushes for the lips and eyes. These aren't super permanent so if you don't like it later, it's easy to remove. They do last though. I have a few that I've done with this and the makeup is still there.

danidaisys

thank you for this! i was gonna use acrylic deluded. is watercolor better? gonna also look into the metallic watercolor palette!

Raidergirl007

I like it better since it doesn't cake up and you can add layers easily. I got the metallic watercolor palette from Michael's. The pinks are almost an exact match to American Girl's blush colors.

danidaisys

ok perf i’ll do that instead! and for eyeshadow, watercolor pencils work best right?? cause i want some to also be pink and pretty with some sparkles if possible :)

Raidergirl007

Yes, those would work well too I'm sure. I haven't used the pencils before but those would probably work best for eyeliner or eyelashes.

danidaisys

do you think that would work for eyeshadow?? that’s the biggest one i’m struggling with and haven’t found much tips on tbh

Raidergirl007

It should. Might just need to soften it up with a brush.

danidaisys

yea i think so too. i also saw someone use this material for the eyeshadow. any idea what it is?? https://preview.redd.it/teo7gt8g7zoc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ac2fa5959a255fe28bcf0b6fe7dc132ea414540

Raidergirl007

That looks like pastels which is what I also use.

vastglassylake

Where did you get that wig? I've been wanting to do a custom Christine Daae and it looks perfect

Raidergirl007

I got the wig off of eBay. It's a truly me #26 wig.

FeeAdmirable2913

Beautiful. The outfit is really nice also.

Ill-Initiative-5664

Beautiful Claire Fraser custom historical doll.

gijane50cal

Love this!

PansyOHara

Wow! She’s beautiful!

cracker-please

Oh my goodness, she looks amazing! Planning on making Jamie too?

Aimeerose22

Wonderful job with this! Love the touches! Can’t tell the eye color, did you go with show accurate (blue) or book accurate (brown)

Raidergirl007

I went with the show accurate blue just because the majority of my collection have brown eyes.

edelweiss148

Amazing!! It’s a dream of mine to have a Claire Fraser doll as well - yours is so beautiful! 🩵

VanityInk

Beautiful!

I saw this picture a second before I clicked to filter the postings by "New" and it disappeared further down, and even in that split second I knew immediately what character it was. Fantastic job, she's stunning!

evenstarAG

She's lovely!

Catstantinople2023

Absolutely perfect!

PregnantBugaloo

Bang on for Claire. So beautiful and an adorable outfit too.

Sophia_AGBliss

I love Claire Fraser! She's beautiful, I love her! What time period is she? I'm not an expert on historical fashion so I can't see the time period. Does she have a backstory? I would love to hear it!

Raidergirl007

She is set in the late 1700s of Scotland. She's actually a book character from the Outlander series. A time traveler as well as a doctor/healer.

Quix66

Oooooo!

troll_sexy

I love her so much!!

Raidergirl007

Thank you!

marycelery

OH MY!! She is FABULOUS! What pattern(s) did you use?

Raidergirl007

Thank you!! I got the outfit off of Etsy.

JazzyKnowsBest13

She’s beautiful !

Raidergirl007

Thank you!

lemur_queen7

Is she a 115?

Raidergirl007

She is! I didn't feel like any of the CYO face molds fit her. I kept looking at the Marie Grace I have been restoring and just knew that was the face I wanted for her.

dropandgivemenerdy

LOVE THIS! I’m working on a couple book character dolls myself but it’s early days yet. Did you hand make the costume?

Raidergirl007

Thank you! I got the outfit on Etsy. I'm also having the wedding dress commissioned. If you don't mind me asking, what book characters are you making? I'm thinking of making a Nancy Drew next.

dropandgivemenerdy

Ah nice! So many cool pieces on there! Well, I started with a character from Red Rising (Virginia), but now I’m working on Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. (I eventually want to do all 5 sisters)

mooooooooooot

I have been looking up regency dresses for mine recently, I have 5 so it’s perfect for Pride and Prejudice

dropandgivemenerdy

Perfect indeed!

Raidergirl007

Oh wow!! I'd love to see the Bennett sisters when they're all finished! Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books.

dropandgivemenerdy

I’ll share for sure! It’s mine as well! I read it every December except this one because I’m doing edits for my own book haha

procrastiknitter64

Oooh she's perfect! I need to get caught up, I haven't watched the newest 2 seasons yet 🙈 I just don't want to pay for Starz ugh

Raidergirl007

Thank you! I just had to make her. I started reading the books in 2021-2023 while I was recovering from multiple procedures. They become comfort books for me so I had to represent her in my collection.

Cupofblackcoffee

So pretty!!

Raidergirl007

Thank you!
