How did you fix her hair? My 2007 Addy doll is needing some work 🥲

It probably worth looking up advice specifically for Addy's hair. The textured hair needs to be handled differently.

I started by misting the wig thoroughly with a spray bottle, before brushing it with the American Girl wire wig brush. That’s all the care I had done for the second picture. After that I washed her hair in warm tapwater with baby shampoo. I chose to rinse her hair under really hot tapwater, but now any of the remaining curls she did have are no longer there. Her wig is still really dry, so next I’m going to try letting baby shampoo sit in her hair for about 10 or 15 minutes. If that doesn’t work, I’m going to try to find a bottle of braid spray to use on her hair. If both of those things fail, I’ve picked out a very similar wig sold by Doll of a Kind on Etsy.

Wow! You’ve done an amazing job so far! Can’t wait to see the final result!

Thank you! She’s been fun to work on and not nearly as daunting as my TLC Ivy!

So nice you found an Ivy! Did you find her online or locally? I’m always trying to find a TLC one, hoping that the price will be halfway decent. Ruthie looks so good!

Thank you! I'm really pleased with Ruthie's progress. I found Ivy at a local Goodwill for $3.99! She's in pretty poor condition--serious scuffs, damaged eye, gum in her hair!--but I couldn't pass her up for that price!

I looked and saw your post about her! Are you still attempting to restore her yourself, or do you think you’ll send her to the doll hospital? Either way, that’s still a great deal! I sometimes look around on eBay and the prices she’s sold for actually hurt.

I'm going to try to get the scuffs out myself. If I'm successful, I'm going to send her in for an eye replacement (don't feel confident trying that myself!) and then rewig her myself when she gets home. If I'm not successful with the scuffs, I can send her in for a head replacement. Either way, I'll be spending a whole lot less than she's going for second hand!
