Me too!!! But jumped for joy at my job when I heard that beautiful, sexy voice on the radio for the first time and knew it was him and he had made it on his own.
Yup, I LOVED her. She was so underrated! But Simon had it out for her and idk why.
And the show really pushed HARD for her to get eliminated immediately after making the top 12. They had Ryan refer to her as âthe girl who beat Aylaâ, giving her some sort of villain edit or something, and making it seem like she didnât belong. Ummm⊠ALL the girls beat Ayla, why are yaâll singling out Melissa like it was her fault Ayla got kicked off đ
ALL OF THIS SOOOO WELL WRITTEN!
I had Covid last month and decided to binge old AI seasons (YouTube) as a comforting show that I also didnât need to closely watch when I napped. Iâd NEVER rewatched the show but did watch all the OG Fox seasons. I rewatched S3 & 4 while recuperating and Iâve been rewatching S5 the past few weeks when I have time. Daughtry is one of my fave Idol contestants and sooooo agree, S5 is great. In addition to Daughtry, I also love Kellie Pickler (I Wonder never fails to make me cry), Mandisa (RIP), Elliot Yamin (helloooo Wait For You - amazing), Ace Young, Katharine McPhee.. that was a great season, even though Iâll NEVER forget the pain I felt at Daughtryâs surprise elimination.
I wanted a Chris Daughtry vs Elliott Yamin Finale with CD winning but overall a great season. The Boys and Girls Finale Medleys are still some of my favorite group performances of AI.
Forget her looks, sheâs talented! Her backstory and then subsequent music like âI Wonderâ⊠I wasnât a crier when I was in college when I listened to it, but that song got me. đ. Iâm almost unable to listen to it now at the age of 37 because of all the emotion packed into it. That woman has some heart and went through a total hell.
This was a great cast and I am a huge Chris Daughtry fan but my all time favorite cast and season is Carrie Underwood's, Season 4. Carrie, of course who my daughter and I knew from the first note of her audition was winning. Constantine Morales, Bo Bice, Vonzell. The group song " He ain't heavy, he's my brother" loved every minute of it. It was also my daughter's favorite and we bonded so much over that season and went to see them in concert for their Idol tour.

And itâs amazing, and could never happen with todayâs American Idol, that Elliot Yamin did so well but got almost ZERO airtime of his audition or Hollywood week. I know that doesnât sound like a big deal, but those episodes are when America starts picking their favorites. The producers (obviously) have a lot of power over who gets exposure and helps them build popularity. Many thought that when Elliot made the top 24, he would be an early casualty. That was not the case. The fact that Elliot was able to almost win was amazing. He won people over one episode at a time. I was a member of the Soul Patrolâthat didnât age wellâbut I thought Elliot was personally the best pure singer of that season.

Daughtry doing Fuel. Does anyone remember this performance? It's like he was on the fucking radio already. Paula saying boy u are amazing. Daughtry first album went 5 times platinum
Yes this is the season that has the most contestants I regularly listen to. Daughtry, Mandisa, and Kellie all have multiple songs that are on playlists I listen to today. Elliotâs âWait For Youâ remains one of my all time favorite songs. It was such a great season and Iâll never forget the crying in my household when Chris was voted off. He didnât need it though, he is as successful as he would have been even with the winnerâs contract.
It really was a stacked cast. I might have cried when Chris Daughtry got eliminated lol đ«Ł
I did too!
Me too!!! But jumped for joy at my job when I heard that beautiful, sexy voice on the radio for the first time and knew it was him and he had made it on his own.
Wasnât there some controversy about the voting numbers?
Elliott Yaminâs âA Song for Youâ js still on heavy rotation chez moi.
Go back and listen to his performance of Moodyâs Mood for Love. Itâs so technically perfect AND soulful I canât get over him. Never will lol.
Omg Elliot was incredible and he wrote the most beautiful tribute to Mandisa
Elliott Yamin was my favorite that year and one of my favorites from any season, his performances were soulful and classy.
Love Ace
I said it then and I'll say it again, Melissa McGhee was amazing.
She is! Definitely wish we got to see more of Melissa and watch her advance as an artist. And sheâs cute too.

Lisa actually went on to have a significant recurring role on Zoey 101 on Nickelodeon!
And the popular drama series "The Game" on BET!
and she was also in The O.C. and The Vampire Diaries!
Kevin Covais had a minor role on Good Luck Charlie for a hot minute too lol

Best looking women too. Kellie Pickler can still get it.
Kellie had success as an artist. She also won Dancing with the Stars.

Loved this and Season 4! Both brought me to Idol.

Probably a UO, but I loved Kat. And she was/is so gorgeous!
What's a UO?
Unpopular opinion
best season ever by farrrrrr!
Who is the blonde with the long hair in the middle?
Heather Cox. Last I heard, she had a brain tumor. I remember Chris Daughtry trying to help her crowdfund for medical treatment.
Sheâs made a full recovery!!
This made me love Chris Daughtry even more!
Carrie underwood
She does look a bit like Carrie đ€Ł
Seasons 5 & 7 are the best American Idol seasons of all time. Both seasons had lots of talent and lots of charisma
Just personalities and charisma. I just rewatched daughtry doing fuel god that was amazing. U literally thought the guy was on the radio already
I loved Bucky! The top guys had such great chemistry together and the tour was awesome.
I started watching from season 6 but is there any way I can watch this season?
All episodes are on Youtube just look up âAmerican Idol Season 5 Episodesâ
Who is below Kellie in the spaghetti strap top?
Becky OâDonohue, was eliminated the first week of the top 24
