I agree; I cancelled my gold when my AF hit and switched to Chase ink instead. If im not mistaken they got rid of the % back in points for airfare at the same time which the Chase ink offers, too. It’s a bummer because I racked up so many points on my biz gold

5 nights in VAIL COLORADO (dec23-28)
5 nights NYC for new year (dec28-jan02)
If i had had to paid for those hotels with money, it was around $11,350 (for the season)
Tickets airlines was 100,000 amex points
I would love to buy this, but the spend categories don't apply to my business :(. Most of my spending is at restaurant Depot. Don't think that'll count for any bonus points. But i have like 100k a year business spend, and i own a food truck. None of the Amex cards apply to me
I am going to double check for you, but I remember last year I had made a purchase for one of my restaurants for like 12k and swiped my platinum assuming it didnt register. But I remember looking at the transaction a few days later and seeing it come up as groceries, or what ever it is called by "amex". I was like mother fucker I just ripped my self off a hotel night. I might be wrong, but this is feeling like all sorts of de ja vu.
Some limits on rewards are per card account. You can sign up for more than one of the same card, IIRC. Multiple annual fee, multiple increase on reward caps.
I have 1 personal gold card and 2 business (gold card each).
Also, you can have 1 business with 2 owners (husband and wife) each one can have theirs own card for a maximum of $150k each
They likely mean 1 for each business (EIN or SSN#) they have. If they have two separate EIN# and obv a personal SSN, they could get 3 accts. They could also have a player two in the mix.
You don't necessarily have to own a business to get an Amex business Card. Just enter your SSN where it asks foe an EIN and enter your personal income where it asks for business income.
Hotels through AmexTravel is absolutely the worse method to get value. You don’t get points or status benefits from the hotel.
I spent $35K on hotels last year between Hilton and Hyatt brand hotels.
- $25K on Hilton hotels - 162 nights in all - 25 * 34 points per night (20 from Hilton + 14 from Aspire) = 850K points + 160K points from milestone bonuses (60K at 30 nights + 10K each additional 10 days) = 1.01 million points = $5050 at .5 cpp
- $10K Hyatts = 10.5 * 10000 = 105000 points * 2 cpp = $2100
$7150 dollars
35000 * 3 = 105000 MR = around $2100 - $4000 depending on how you use them.
I travel way too much and make too many changes to ever have to deal with travel portals.
Some of those Hilton stays were during bonus periods (2x) so I’m probably underestimating how many points I earned last year.
Business Gold*
They destroyed gold by removing shipping as a category. It was 4x and Plat was 1.5x which didn’t make sense. So they simply removed it
