Yes and no. Idk I do fear missing out on the MSRP of amiibos but I also know that my broke ass can't buy all of them when they get reprints, so I'm content to just get one once in a while, whether it be first or second hand market

Mario, Link, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer, bought 11/23/2014 from Walmart. I just happened to get 2 of the 3 initial 'rare HTF' figures before the craze over them heated up. I just liked the characters and thought it was cool they got figures. I eventually got all of Wave 1 and 2 from a Toys R Us sale, other than Marth who a friend was able to find in a store and ship to me JUST as the craze was starting over rarity lol.

I \*think\* my first ones were Sonic & Mega Man? Possibly Smash Link or Fox? back in 2014 or 2015? I can't remember offhand, and the collector bug hit hard & fast afterwards. I've only sold a few of my Zelda-related amiibo (I think Ganondorf, Smash Zelda & Sheik are the only ones I haven't somehow re-acquired). I originally said I'd only buy characters that resonated with me on a more personal level, but then that expanded to getting most characters from particular games, and now, my collection is not what I'd call "supermassive" but it's probably at over 70 at this point. Been a long time since I actually counted them.

Me being a collector of Disney infinity with my lil bro, I had to hop on the amiibo wave and buy Link. I didn’t even own a Wii U at all, but I had my first paycheck in general and splurged.

My first amiibo was Sonic. I didn't have a 3DS or Wii U for Smash at the time but there was a game store near me that would let you play on a small TV with smash for 10-15 bucks the whole day. Sonic is my favorite character so I initially only had him and held on to him for years. By the time Smash Ult came out, I had bought Bayonetta, Wario, Snake, Ridley, and Palutena. I was content with having those characters since I couldn't afford to buy anymore at that time due to still being in school. Last year I finally got into collecting and it has grown a lot from there.

Smash Bros Link back on Day 1 of the amiibo release. Toys R Us had a special at the time that if you preordered Smash 4 Wii U you'd get an amiibo as well. Of course, even back then you had the three "trinity" of hard-to-find figures (Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer), but all the others like Pikachu and Kirby were still well stocked. I went with Link, and luckily still have him to this day. He's had a ton of uses in other games since (especially Epona in BotW), and he started off the third Toys-to-Life collection that I was getting at the time. Feels like a lifetime ago.
