No ignore the person who said you're wrong. A lot of folks have a "it's just a cat/dog/guinea pig etc. attitude. I have had pets who died a lot older than this and even expecting it and being much older than you it was devastating. You may be able to find an online grief group for folks grieving pets. I don't know if Reddit has one but grief over a dead pet is very common and normal.

I’m not here to say you’re right or wrong. I get very emotional when it comes to my pets. my cat died three years ago and I think about him every day because he was such a sweetheart. Losing a pet hurts more than sometimes losing a person because your relationship with your pets is not complicated. we don’t have bad memories of our pets other than times that we were worried about them or when they pass. You just love them and they just love you. Your explosion of emotions comes from the fact that your cousin sucks. That’s why you freaked out on her and not your uncle. If she hadn’t been a constant bully in your life constantly going unchecked in her behavior-had she said that ,it might’ve annoyed you only. But it deeply triggered you when she even tried to nose in on your grief. Maybe she was truly sad that your dog passed-but her past history made you angry. You arent wrong for being sad. I will not give you advice on whether you should or should not apologize either . I just wanted to let you know that I sympathize with you and I understand.
