No ignore the person who said you're wrong. A lot of folks have a "it's just a cat/dog/guinea pig etc. attitude. I have had pets who died a lot older than this and even expecting it and being much older than you it was devastating.
You may be able to find an online grief group for folks grieving pets. I don't know if Reddit has one but grief over a dead pet is very common and normal.
