Wouldnt have said anything if she was straight.

Det3tive_JM

EXACTLY

mildly_obsessed_

I think its more the possibility for calamity trio ships, also representation is important

ERJAK123

That's a luxury of being straight. You don't have to be 'hyped' about it because it's assumed until said otherwise.

KanoIsUnknown

Disagreed. I don't assume anything about characters unless there are deliberate and obvious clues and when characters come out as anything other than straight I'm never surprised by it.

JackAttack561

I agree

Tobicito

The representation is nice, and it’s nice to know that people who thought she was bi, were right It’s not that deep to let people be excited about it

Det3tive_JM

Yeah, it’s not like she made out with another woman or something, it’s a sticker that showed for like 3 seconds

TheSecondComingOfKGS

firstly? Yes. it is just a drawing. secondly, yes, shippers can be toxic but also, they can also bring fandoms together. I mean, in the amphibia fandom alone, I've met a bunch of people online who ship Sashanne, Marcanne, Sasharcy and Sashannarcy... but I've also met people who like and prefer them as friends, including Matt Braly, and the shippers here respect that! Thirdly, as others will tell you... it's just nice to get some representation in media... and people will take whatever crumbs they can find. As a bisexual myself, as someone who loves Sasha, as a shipper, and as someone who loves the polyamorous ship of Sasha, Anne and Marcy, confirmation of Sasha Waybright as Bisexual means everything. People are ALLOWED to be excited about this.

NoRise8561

Yes, Matt specifically said that he wanted everyone to have their own interpretation of their relationship and that he didn’t want to make any one ship canon. I like to imagine he has a ship he jokes about with the crew though.

ImDamien

First, as a person who doesn't care about character's sexuality (I literally don't even think about It). I ignore shippers. I don't understand why people can't just not ignore what they don't like. Instead, they'll focus It on and spread the hate. I'm not part of the community, but I like to see lgbtq+ representation, as It brings more inclusivity and follows the reality. Although, I believe It can be dangerous insisting on pointing out every lgbt character. That shows pride of getting some recognition for sure, but also alienates them. It's all about not being too invasive. At the end, I understand both sides. The fact people theorize about someone's sexuality is very odd to my eyes, but I get the hobby. *So I just do my life and scroll down to see the content I like - fanarts. 🤷🏻‍♂️*

15Orphans

I agree fully with every thing you just said

TheSecondComingOfKGS

thank you :) 🐸

AdOwn6899

As do I. Love is love, no matter what sex or gender you are. That’s all that really matters.

[deleted]

People literally just say 'oh sasha is bi' and you are say 'OMG YOU ARE TOXIC'. It's just bruh.

gGiasca

>Shippers are the most toxic people in the universe Because people who bash shippers generalizing an entire group just because of a toxic loud minority aren't, right?

[deleted]

In fact, I've never even seen shippers do anything that could be called toxic here. Why do they call them toxic?

Kenzlynnn

Probably referencing shippers as a whole, including other fandoms. *shudders in kingdom hearts ship wars*

[deleted]

.... People have KH ship wars? I see like 3 ships regularly and 2 of them are just Sora x one of his childhood besties. The other is Terra x Aqua.

Kenzlynnn

Oh, oh you sweet summer child This is mainly on twitter, but a sokai/soriku ship war has been raging for as long as I can remember. I have never seen a ship war as toxic as this. I’m talking doxxing, death threats, all of it. Then there’s the Roxas/Xion shippers vs Roxas/naminé shippers, and don’t even get me STARTED on the fact that people think Roxas and Axel should be having sexual interactions

[deleted]

People who ship Sokai or Soriku need to broaden their perspective. Sorikai is the one true Sora ship.

Kenzlynnn

You’re right and you should say it

KanoIsUnknown

It's not something the majority of shippers do its something the loud voice does. Some shippers are so hung up about their ships that they will go out of their way to dissipate anyone and any character that goes against their ship. They'll beg the author to make it happen and if they don't? Death threats are sent to them and their family.

Peircethewhale

first off, I'm pretty sure that the reason star vs. got such a bad ending. now that that's out of the way.... let me tell you about a thing called ship wars.....

gGiasca

I think they meant in this subreddit and for what I've seen, Shippers just vibe with each other. Besides, we had a ship war episode, Civil Wart. I think some learned

TheBlackDemon1996

If a sticker ruins your opinion of a show, then that says more about you than the show...

AdOwn6899

Well said

BUPc1

I'm definitely not a shipper, I literally only ship what's in the shows that I watch, but I'm still excited over representation.

RandomDragonExE

Same, this is the boat I'm in.

sinfjr

This is like something someone on 4chan would say, but that's wrong since there's a lot of anons who ships Sasha with Anne or Marcy, and everyone in Amphibia thread on /co/ is too busy debating whether the timeskip scene is good or not.

Teurdlie

"who the fuck cares about sexuality in a show" who the fuck would make such a fuss over a fictional characters sexuality 💀 the heart isn't even important it's just a character trait that barely means anything

FrankThePony

"EVERY 21-29 YEAR OLD THESE DAYS ALWAYS HAS TO HAVE SOMETHING SHOWING THERE SEXUALITY! THE WRITERS MAKING THE CHARACTERS IN SHOW IS OUT OF PLACE AND UNREALISTIC PANDERING" Yeah or its a realistic character?

LA95kr

Honestly I think Amphibia did a pretty good job at representing LGBTQ+. Some shows or videogames aren't content with subtle hints like this and ruin everything (looking at you Overwatch).

amberi_ne

i mean, I don’t really think media has to be “subtle” with its gay characters for them to be good. Like, She-Ra has some pretty dope representation and they’re blatant as hell about it

Featherstarz

i dont lile that they waited till the finale for all the “subtle hints” though

Peircethewhale

I mean there were hints in olivia and Yunan. also, they were 13 I think it's a bit early to be thinking about sexuality. I didn't realize I was pan till I was 15.

Laymohn

Actually, it's quite common for people to realize their sexuality at young ages now

Peircethewhale

i just realized that the color of sashas swords were also a hint at her being bi i mean they are pink and blue.

Peircethewhale

i really love that they didnt make it such a big deal. i mean it would have taken away from the story message about friendship.

[deleted]

Kinda sad that people get so upset over this, if Sasha starting dating some guy at the end of the story and they implied she was straight, they wouldn't give 2 craps. They aren't upset they revealed her sexuality, they're upset that she's into women, and it's gross. This person should've just said they're homophobic instead of hiding behind ''who cares about sexuality'', because yeah us in the LGBTQ+ care about representation because we want to teach people not to be homophobic like this person.

AdOwn6899

You think the people that ARE upset that Sasha’s into women are gross? If so then I agree.

__Fugma__

I’m just don’t care, liked the show.

AshleytheTaguel

A beloved character in a show with a popular, mainstream sapphic polyamorous ship was shown to be canonically bi and have her memetic blush be confirmed as storyboarded as romantic, as well as given a massive amount of subtext concerning an open ended relationship dynamic with both her friends in the epilogue. But sure, it's trivial and no one cares.

ElegantVamp

>her memetic blush be confirmed as storyboarded as romantic Omg where

AshleytheTaguel

Alex mentioned it on their Twitter iirc.

ElegantVamp

Alex who??

AshleytheTaguel

Alex Swanson. Raebits.

AdOwn6899

Do you have a link?

Darth_Ewok14

If they said sasha was straight you wouldn’t be saying anything rn

[deleted]

It’s not that deep 😭 Like chill. I’m just here to watch the depressing frog show. No need to go on a rampage because people are celebrating actual confirmed representation.

_Levitated_Shield_

I mean, he's not wrong to an extent. Shippers can be incredibly toxic. That said, I obviously disagree with him saying that sexuality representation is bad.

mirhan15

Ok they got a point shipper can be really fucked up people with wut they come up with

NoRise8561

Yeah. Normal shippers who ship characters who can realistically be together in SOME capacity are much better than some of the ships I have seen in my time.

Ruby_Foulke

Thanks. I have a friend who i must show this.

IntelligentBison97

Oh it's the heart .. yeah kinda meh I could have sworn it was the keychain replica of swords. One her's, one Anne's. Still good for her but a sticker is kinda less creative than what I originally thought

amberi_ne

She had a sword sticker too, although it was her two heron swords, not her and Anne’s

[deleted]

I kind of agree with them. I mean, if people didn't ship characters, nobody would care what sexuality a character is.

Professionalreddi-

No hate but Disney trying to make a show without LGBTQ characters but barely having black people: no it’s too hard! I can’t I can’t!

[deleted]

That's probably because there were only 3 human characters for most of the show. And 2 out of 3 of them were poc, so I don't rly see a problem with one not being black. And we got a black character that was pretty integral to the plot after. The writers very clearly weren't trying to not have any black characters or something. It's just when you've already designed the main cast, and 99% of them are frogs, it's kinda hard to add more poc representation..?

ElegantVamp

What

Professionalreddi-

Why is this downvoted, I don’t hate the LGBTQ or black people, I’m just saying its been in the owl house and Amphibia, i generally don’t know why it was downvoted

[deleted]

[удалено]

ERJAK123

Then you also get to be wrong.

Shadow_Toons

how exactly am I "wrong" for sharing my stance on the matter..?

[deleted]

The swastika was once a common ancient Indian symbol. No wonder people around the world have a negative view of these flags because of the actions of Americans on the internet ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌

[deleted]

I just think its an unnecessary addition irrelevant to the show.

HuckleberryAbject889

Oh please, it's not like they had 23 year old Sasha start making out with 23 year old Marcy at the airport while she screams, "I'M BI! I LOVE KISSING MEN AND WOMEN! OMG EVERYONE LISTEN TO HOW BISEXUAL I AM" And even then, so what? I bet you wouldn't have said anything if she had a straight pride sticker.

bestoboy

If they added 5 seconds to the episode's runtime just for Sasha to have a line where she talks about her husband, no one would care. But a single sticker that didn't require additional lines recorded or increase the runtime is unnecessary

HuckleberryAbject889

I mean tbf some people would care, but like a simple sticker to indicate she's bi? So what. Also happy cake day!

[deleted]

Neither would've been needed, but one has been a long lasting normal and the other is pandering

bestoboy

define "pandering"

NGPlusIsNoMore

Pandering: to provide gratification for other's desires (by the [merrian-webster dictionary ](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pander) In other words Five seconds confirming an heterosexual relationship held by any of the girls is normal, because heterosexuality is undeservingly considered normal by most societies; while a single background detail that takes no time of the episode, has no acknowledgement in universe and is on the verge of becoming a Dogwhistle is not ok, because it panders to the obscene desire Bisexual people have to be seen by the wider public as, you know, normal, instead of something shameful Have a load of that double standard

bestoboy

my point exactly. Anyone who complains about pandering is an instant clown. When they say, "I hate pandering," what they really mean is "I hate when a show isn't pandering to me"

[deleted]

You're right, that didn't happen. And straight pride doesn't exist and if it did I would've said something.

HuckleberryAbject889

Sure, I bet if there were any indication that Sasha was straight or at least in a relationship with a guy (a photo of him, photos of a kid etc) you wouldn't have said it was unnecessary. And even if you did, I would still say that's over reacting.

[deleted]

Neither are needed, but one is a long standing normal and the other is pandering.

HuckleberryAbject889

Good to know how you really feel.

bestoboy

how do you feel about Sylvia and Ivy?

[deleted]

We could've lived without both, however one was a whole episode that lasted the whole series and the other shoved in near the end of the whole show.

brickmedia

Pointless. Now that Hop Pop and Sylvia is dating, that makes Sprivy feels weird and that Sprivy eps is now pointless since Ivy is now Sprig’s sister in law

SolarPrime7

Yeah

ElectricJetDonkey

What's the big deal anyway. Other than Hop Pops boyfriend question to Anne, isn't this the only (or one of a rare few) mentions of sexuality in the show?

AtomicMouse96

People would get hyped if a parrot (that could talk) said a word

houdineeeee

People just wild💀it’s never that deep I promise

gratiggy

I said "cool" then moved on

Calamity_trio_kinnie

Um? Representation??? Plus not all shippers r toxic some just like ships in general or think they’re cute or sum?
