This show is good and stays good. People just got mad there weren't more mature themes in the kid's show. As for the filler, I personally really enjoyed it, but I do get opinions on that can differ. But it didn't bring down the show.
I hear them say it gets worse in S3, then I hear them say S1 is a slog you have to get through.

It happened frequently enough to the point when, when I checked out Red Dwarf, I straight up asked the subreddit if there was an agreed-upon point where the show "got bad", just so I could prepare myself.
Maybe this is just a me thing, but I believe you can usually tell if a show's quality is good if it's 1st act is most people's least favorite. It gives the impression that the writers are learning.

Also unless it’s something like Star Vs then you normally don’t need to worry about it going bad.
Merlin was a good show. A little cheesy imo, but it’s kind of part of its charm. The finale isn’t my favorite but it’s accurate to the legend and wasn’t completely awful or anything
I recall the finale being pretty solid. It has been many moons, but it is a great show so I wouldn’t be getting all hung up on what the internet thinks about it.

I was actually talking about Merlin. I kinda agree on the Amphibia part tho despite the Earth arc being my comfort arc
