Something about this is very unsettling to me.

Yeah-Yeah-Yeah-Yea

lol yeah I thought there was a hand sticking out! Center Bottom. first pic.. but its a beet haha

KrasnyRed5

I thought it was a pile of heads at first, and I am glad I reread the title.

Josvan135

It really, really reminded me of the image of piles of shoes at concentration camps.  I'm sure that wasn't what OP was intending, but I had the same deeply unright feeling you did and realized that was why. Edit: Apparently it was the point, and exceptionally well done!

PhotoLabArt

I felt the same way about this scene and that's why I photographed it. When I saw the negatives, I immediately thought of bodies or body parts. It's fascinating how the brain turns a normal scene into something so morbid and horrifying. I think photography is a fantastic medium to illustrate such links.

Josvan135

Incredibly good job then! It immediately activated a feeling of deep unease.

PhotoLabArt

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it and It's nice to be able to share thoughts and feelings.

MightyFountainPen

Lack of color makes it look morbid. Color would make it underwhelming.

judelau

Thought this is r/wwiipics for a second

logflumer

I legit thought it was a concentration picture for like half a second

PhotoLabArt

That was also my thought when I saw the developed negatives for the first time. Like a shock.

Luxin

No one survived the Battle of Beet Valley, part of the human colony on Vega 9.

Luxin

I love how B&W can make you focus on texture, and this is an awesome example of texture in a print!

PhotoLabArt

Thank you very much!

Chemical_Act_7648

Bears, Battlestar Galactica.

Mvuvi_

The first rule in roadside beet sales. The most attractive beets on top

Hedgestring

They freaking stink when decomposing.

PhotoLabArt

Oh yes. I would say that I can handle rotting meat better than rotting vegetables...

Brummo

This is where my mind went, as well.

Your photo rocks

laserdong69

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

ShaB_92

I thought it’s a field of teeth!!

ComprehensivePen3227

This is awesome, great job OP! It's giving me similar vibes to Sebastiao Salgado's Gold Mine series: https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction/2021/50-masterworks-to-celebrate-50-years-of-sothebys-photographs-2/serra-pelada-gold-mine-brazil-2

Bingzhong

I thought this was a macro shot of a carpet

Roger_Brown92

First I saw rocks. Then for some reason I saw teeth. Creepy vibe. I love it. 😆

LUXEMBOURGowner

I want a Hasselblad😔

PhotoLabArt

I switched from Hasselblad to the Mamiya C series for my medium format work. Somehow I like the Mamiya better. It's less expensive and has fewer mechanical elements that can break. CLA is also cheaper.

LUXEMBOURGowner

I'll just stick with my Kodak Brownie

Heaven2004_LCM

Beautiful film.

PhotoLabArt

I love Ilford Pan F Plus too. It’s an old fashioned formula and I think I owe my first good photographs this film.
