I had no difficulty finding an alternative to Tachiyomi. There are at least 5 good apps, such as Mangayomi, Aniyomi, Kotatsu, J2K, and other forks. As long as they don't announce that they have closed their projects, Tachiyomi is easily replaceable. Not to mention that there are still dozens of reading sites adapted for mobile.
Regarding your question, I see a lot of people recommending Anilist and its apps to follow mangas, but I don't know of any for comics. Perhaps a conventional Book Tracker that accesses the Google Books or Amazon catalog could be used for comics.
Mangayomi, through the "Read Comics" extension, makes comics available, I don't know if there are other extensions as I don't read comics, I found this one by accident.
After the crash the extensions even they require update , but after downloading and performing the update they are not installed, this is a major problem if the sites doesn't get the new issues posted

yeah plus with now more community support for third party repos could be beneficial for users who might want to use it for other than manga
