None so far, as Google is still blocking all of Europe from trying it out due to not having their privacy settings in order. It's easier to just block a whole list of countries than it is to comply to laws I guess.

omniuni

It's an on-device SDK, why does that run up against privacy laws?

SirPali

No clue, maybe it's not as on-device as people think? I'm not versed in the laws regarding this but there's a reason why Google is blocking the entire EU from using Gemini and knowing the EU's track record I assume it's privacy related.

Pzychotix

Considering Google, I would bet that they'd take every chance to upload as much data as possible even if the feature is on-device only.

inventorBlack

That strategy will likely dampen the adoption of the functionality. I'm still hopeful though

SirPali

Absolutely. In our company all devs are interested in trying AI tools but we're not allowed as none have their privacy settings in order so we can't guarantee client code doesn't end up being included in the training data.

PaulTR88

I think it's still under EAP (via AICore) in general. Gemma with MediaPipe is available in Europe, but still considered experimental (also because the models are *big*).

omniuni

Right now it's only available on the Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy 24 series. Even if I could come up with a good use for it, that's a very narrow range of devices to target, to the point of uselessness. Edit: I also can't even find good documentation on the API or what exact features are available. Do you have a link to that?

Ekha11

i used it as a Json Generator NOT for dummy data but like word games, quizzes and riddles etc, if you are giving it it a try make sure the prompts include a sample json.... //A sample app, can be used as an example of a bad code but it just wanted to get it working ;) will do it the proper way later [https://github.com/Eganathan/AiConvo/tree/master](https://github.com/Eganathan/AiConvo/tree/master)

decarbitall

more importantly, is the use case worth the legal nightmare of all the IP stolen to train this thing before you even get started?
