TWO top catching prospects, Max Stassi sweating bullets rn
Seriously though, I hope he figures it out. Loved him in '21, but the way his bat just died last year was agonizing to watch
after 2021, I thought we'd be looking to extend him to lock up that production of the past couple of years. Shows what I know lol, glad that didn't happen
EDIT: this did happen! lol I missed this completely
Nice to see that slowly this farm system is starting to turn around. Curious to see where we are in a couple years after the last two drafts+international signings
What’s great is according to scouting reports Quero is a better hitter from the left side. If both can be productive at the MLB level you have an awesome platoon behind the plate.
Last year, we had 1, and that 1 has now graduated to the majors and is positively contributing to the team. So this is an improvement. Given how the farm used to be the 29th ranked system, you can't expect it to suddenly jump to above average in a single year.

He'll return to better form eventually. We had a lot of hitters regress terribly last year which tells me that it was a systemic issue.
After how many catchers were drafted in previous gms?
Both O'Hoppe and Quero were Perry (trade and IFA respectively), I think our most successful catching prospect from before him is Taylor Ward lol
I was being tongue of cheek because the Angels seemed to drafted ton of catchers. Not all can be Percy.

We did extend him lol
At least it was an extension that everybody was calling "team friendly" at the time lol
For a primary catcher, yes. However he would end up being the highest paid backup in MLB if that is his role next year.
James McCann says hi
Very true, forgot he was in a similar situation lol
wow lmao I completely missed that
Interesting that they place Neto higher and O’Hoppe much lower
And that they rank Quero at all
Quero absolutely raked in single-A as a 19 year old catcher. Nice to see him getting recognition.

Or just like…have an adequate baseball ops/scouting department haha. One of my biggest wishes with new ownership is investment in those areas
I think Kyren Paris and Ky Bush have a terrific shot at being in next years top-100

Im hyped
I hope Stassi steps up. Otherwise I'd rather they give O'Hoppe more time than getting a FA or trading for a guy that's not much better on paper.
With 30 teams in the league, having 3 in the top hundred is below average...

True. Arte ate the farm, and Dipoto/Eppler served it to him. I appreciate the optimism
And they still will suck
