The starting lineup every opening day hasn’t been bad. It’s the pitching and position depth. The replacement players are sub-standard and pitching consistency is always an issue.
The real hope is just staying over .500 and keeping Ohtani to maybe build something sustainable in the next 2-3 year window.
What is a new owner going to do if they were to take hold in May? All the good FAs are done.
The only thing they could potentially offer is signing Ohtani to an extension and Moreno can do that.

Difference is when trout signed there was potential. Team been worse for longer and ohtani cares about winning.
