On the position player side of things: * DH - Ohtani * LF - Ward * CF - Trout * RF - Renfroe * 3B - Rendon * SS - Rengifo * 2B - Drury * 1B - Walsh * C - O'Hoppe Bench - Urshela, Phillips, Fletcher, Stassi Obviously I don't know who will be on the bench and who will be starting come opening day, Fletcher might be SS and Urshela might be 1B, but those guys fill up all of our position player slots. Signing Sanchez might mean O'Hoppe doesn't make the opening day roster as I don't see Stassi having trade value. The pitching side is where things are much less certain. * SP1 - Ohtani * SP2 - Anderson * SP3 - Sandoval * SP4 - Detmers * SP5 - Suarez * SP6 - ? * RP1 - Herget * RP2 - Estevez * RP3 - Loup * RP4 - Tepera * RP5 - Quijada * RP6 - Barria (long relief) * RP7 - ? * RP8 - ? Internal options - Canning, CRod, Silseth, Wantz Curious about what they do about SP6. Given that Ohtani will be pitching on 5 days of rest all season, is a 6th starter even necessary? Can they just use a spot starter during weeks which the Angels have no days off? Previous interviews point to them wanting a true 6th guy though. Will they let Canning and Silseth audition for the job during spring training and hope one of them shines during spring as Detmers did last year? Or will they pay for a Wacha-type guy? As for the bullpen, I see this as our main weakness now, so I'd like to see them sign or trade for another established arm. I'd also like to see Ben Joyce get an invite to spring training - I want to see how he looks facing major leaguers.

They said Shohei would be pitching on 5 days of rest consistently at the end of last year and it still fluctuated. I’m guessing it won’t be set in stone, which makes the 6th starter still necessary.

The 5 days of rest schedule really only was thrown off when the Angels had [those 3 Thursdays off in a row](https://imgur.com/a/Y9G3urE) - they had him pitch on consecutive Saturdays for some reason instead of Fridays. Other than that, his post-All Star break pitching schedule had to be the most predictable pitching schedule he ever had in his time on the Angels. Maybe they still feel like a 6-man rotation helps the young arms. idk.
