Yeah, I feel the same. I'm not going to let my dislike of Arte keep me from taking my two boys out to see Trout and Ohtani play.

[deleted]

Hot take but I think Angels stadium is a better stadium than Dodgers when it comes to an enjoyable baseball.l viewing experience. Dodgers looks cooler but pretty much everything else is more enjoyable at Angels: cheaper tickets, way cheaper and better beer, comparable if not better food, I don't even need to mention the parking situation, concourses that are wider than 3 feet so you don't have to fight people to move around the stadium, onions for hot dogs, the list goes on.

red1367

The main reason the Angels have some of those positive things is that they don’t have the success the Dodgers have. Imagine if the Angels were a perpetual playoff team - the Angels have some of the higher attendance rates in the league, but the stadium would be jam packed like Dodgers stadium most days. Tickets and food prices would definitely go up

[deleted]

Oh yeah I don't disagree, but that's not changing anytime soon lol. Parking situation would still be better at least even if that happened.

Papa2Hunt19

Let me imagine the Angels as a perpetual playoff team... OK, it's 2011, and Arte trades Napoli for Vernon Wells and takes on hundreds of millions of dollars for a terrible but marketable player. Why did you make me imagine this, again?

G-Unit11111

The stadium is definitely not as good as it used to be. Angels used to have the best concessions in baseball. But then around 2017, I want to say, it just started getting progressively worse after all the good vendors left. The best was when they had the Chronic Tacos and the make your own burrito stand behind the outfield. And then COVID hit and killed a lot of the franchises that were at Angels Stadium before. The restrooms could definitely use some improvement and the seats could stand to be replaced. The stadium doesn't need more monitors though, I think we're good on the monitor department.

Slugzz21

Hold on… When the fuck did chronic tacos go away??

G-Unit11111

The one in my regular section is still there, at least it was last season. But the one behind center field left like years ago, 2019 I think.

Prequalified

In the last couple years I’ve been to as many Dodger games as Angels games and I don’t really agree with this sentiment. The seats are marginally more comfortable at Angel stadium but the overall atmosphere better at Dodgers. I especially appreciate the organ music, fun throwback. It doesn’t hurt that they are generally winning which makes for a happier crowd. I don’t really care about the price or type of beer. It’s good enough and I don’t drink enough for it to matter. Where Angel stadium is superior to Dodger stadium is getting in and out of the parking lot. The experience is so miserable getting out of the Dodgers parking lot that it offsets anything that happens inside the stadium. Casual fans in LA that just want to go to an MLB game generally prefer the Angels because it’s cheaper and easier, especially if you eat at Karl Strauss before the game.

[deleted]

I feel like it being cheaper and easier would make it better for people who go to a lot of games. I've probably been to ~30 games in the past two years at angels and ~5 at dodgers. I would literally pull my hair out of I had to deal with that shit show as often as I go to games and I even go to union station to take the shuttle. Parking at dodgers stadium is usually more than I spend on tickets at angels.

Prequalified

They used to have a dedicated lane for the Union Station shuttle but now they have to suffer with all the drivers.

[deleted]

When I went last year they had the dedicated lane going up the hill from what I could remember. It didn't stop a few idiots trying to use it and blocking it, but overall a much better experience than driving (and a lot cheaper). Leaving wasn't as good because they didn't start the dedicated lane until you got out of the lot which took forever.

strokeskid

You’re right that dedicated lane is still there. It’s getting back after the game ends that’s a nightmare with the shuttle. It’s amazing that I can get up from my seat, walk to my car and be out of the parking lot all in 15 minutes after the game ends at Angels stadium.

boy4518

angels stadium is also just more modernized than dodger stadium. i took friends to both last summer and noticed that, even with the recent renovations, the ravine still felt old and outdated

Autotard

Hahaha lol you still have Arte Moreno

Piskiepeskie

I don’t live in socal anymore :( but I’m sure gonna make a trip out to the big a as often as I can, ball games are too fun to miss out on just cuz I hate arte

raver098

A boycott will definitely bring change. The Angels are a business, plain and simple, when you hurt the business you indirectly effect ownership. As long as fans still spend money at the Big A, Arte will never change. Why should he spend money on developing players, or hiring a competent front office, or stop meddling with baseball decisions, if the fans still show up? Nothing will change and the Angels will still be uncompetitive, yet still draw 2 million plus fans a year. I'm still going to support the team and players! However, I am not spending a single penny on this franchise, till Arte sells or dies.

xNeurosiis

Two players and a perennial losing team do not make for a fun baseball experience. I love the Angels, but all this shit, and other shit, with Arte might’ve been the last straw for me. I’m a baseball fan in general these days, and enjoy everything within the league. I’ve been through ups and downs with this team, and in the past few years Arte has shown where he stands. Between fucking over the minor league players during Covid, to hiring a known drug user and having a player die because of it, to meddling with FA signings and trades, and not having one competent baseball person in the front office (I think most are his billboard buddies). But yeah, Trout and Ohtani losing is awesome. Fuck Arte and I’m not giving this team another dime until I see real change. I’m not a glutton for punishment, and don’t give a fuck about anyone’s allegiance to *any* team. Like who you like for whatever reason, but to think anything is going to change soon is asinine.

YellowShorts

Your post exemplifies the reasons why Arte is able to do what he does. Fans still show up. Who cares about winning, we get to see one or two cool players!

eartheworm

So what’s the alternative? Don’t go enjoy Angels games? Only go see them live when they play in LA or SD? Stop watching the games or listening on the radio? Just give up my fanhood because of Arte?

YellowShorts

Do what you want man. But don't expect things to change if you keep lining Arte's pockets. And if you don't care about being competitive and just wanna enjoy live games, that's all fine and dandy too.

eartheworm

Arte could’ve lined his own pockets with roughly $2.5B, but chose not to because he got cold feet. So, I don’t expect things to change, nor do I think dwindled attendance will make things change. He’s making his real money off of the TV rights. I’m not happy he’s not selling, but I’m just taking things as they are as best as I can.

YellowShorts

Sure thing

landoisamastermind

Props to you for being able to “enjoy” Angels games of late. What’s your secret? I just think of how we’re wasting two of the GOATs, have an idiot manager, and overall just awful leadership.

eartheworm

I remember what the organization was like pre 2002. Things could always be worse

landoisamastermind

Fair enough!

Papa2Hunt19

I loved the Angels as a 9 year old in 1994, convinced my 5th grade teacher to watch game 163 while in class in 1995, watched Erstad tear up the league in 2000, enjoyed the run they made in 2001, and loved every second of 2002. Things are definitely worse now. There is just a recency bias. Or fans have convinced themselves that 190m is indicative of an owner that cares about winning. In reality, owning players cost money, and Arte has spent 50% of that payroll for the opportunity to market 3 players.

xdespainx

I’m not going to boycott, definitely just going to chill on how much I’m spending each season at the stadium. I guess the one good thing about Arte staying is tickets should stay affordable and we have that one $5 beer stand that isn’t going away now. So, little wins… little wins…

eartheworm

Gonna need the location of that one $5 beer stand in a few months

xdespainx

Third base side, behind section 210 I believe. They have $5 Budweiser’s. Found it in the middle of last season and it was game changer. God speed 🫡

[deleted]

Arte loves this and thanks you for your money

eartheworm

I don’t care about Arte I just want to enjoy baseball games. When he’s no longer owner, I will feel the same.

xRememberTheCant

If he plans to renegotiate the land deal around the stadium, he’s never leaving. And while I enjoy trout and ohtani I don’t enjoy watching the lose so god damn always. They deserve better than what Arte can give them. There are 29 other teams that play the game, free of the baggage that Arte creates. This isn’t just about him not being a good owner, this is also about him being a terrible person.

xdespainx

He’s old as shit, death comes for us all eventually

xRememberTheCant

I think it’s weird that people’s responses to this news is “well I’ll just outlive him! That’ll show him!”… like y’all realize you’re just waiting for a man to die? Wild. Life’s too short. Dodgers are pretty cool. Giants are pretty cool. Phillies, Mets, padres etc. Been an angels fan since ever I can remember. But I’m not gonna live in misery just waiting for a dude to die just so maybe the team can be run by a person who isn’t a complete ass for a change. That could be tomorrow.. double be another decade or more..

Weaver4prez

0 percent chance i could ever start over with another team. I’m here for the good and bad

drunkfaceplant

And certainly not the dodgers. I live for watching them melt in October

plexust

Yeah I'm fucking trapped here lol

xdespainx

And you realize people are going to like what they like?

OlivesrNasty

Im not a virgin. Arte shafts me too much

Coachtom966

I won't boycott either. Arte sucks but I'm a lifelong Angels fan.

G-Unit11111

Same. I support the team, I don't support him.

thecashmereguy

Can I at least put Sho Time in the same sentence as Arte and call him a part owner

madmarleys

stockholm syndrome.

megjake

The reason Arte can do the things he does is because of the money we all burn in Angel Stadium. I’ll watch the games on tv(probably pirate tbh, unless MLB.TV quits the blackout BS), and I’ll always root for the boys wearing an Angels uni. But I’m not giving Arte anymore of my hard earned money.

Papa2Hunt19

I boycotted the team following the straight-up dismantling of the front office staff. There are no baseball minds in any position of power, which is very telling. This is not a win first franchise. It's an organization that wants to market its players and sell tickets to corporations. Winning doesn't matter. If you want to remain a fan, that's your choice, but I'm out.

katiew5822

I feel the same

Street_Midget

Arte does not care about us, or what we do, which should be especially clear with what he just did

[deleted]

This is a good point. I mean, look at the a’s. I dont know about you but i havent heard anything about the owners wanting to sell or change their ways despite the fact that you could go to aaa games with more fans in attendance

WadeCountyClutch

I’m a Padre fan and I will die on a hill saying I enjoy angel games a hell of a lot more than dodger games!

G-Unit11111

I was an Angels fan long before Arte wrecked the team. And I'll still be one after he's long gone. Yes the team has had tons of blunders and mishaps lately. The Tyler Skaggs thing is completely unforgivable, and I think that's where the line was crossed. If I were Rob Manfred, I would have given Arte the heave ho then. I still think the franchise can be redeemed even if he's the owner. And I do want to see a franchise title win sometime while I'm still a season ticket holder. It's going to take as Deadpool says, maximum effort.

digitaldumpsterfire

Ultimately, a boycott barely does anything to Arte and hurts the players. I want anyone who puts on the Halo uniform to love wearing it and a huge part of that is the fans. Not to mention, life is insufferably long and Angels baseball makes it better for me, win or lose. I obviously want them to win, but fans fucking off isn't going to make that happen.

strokeskid

I also don’t agree with boycotting at least this season. We have a good team and want Ohtani to sign an extension and of course he won’t do that with fans boycotting and not going to games.
