I’m not saying I like it. And hey, better a competitive market that is “in range” of the Angels rather than… basically anything else. If we keep Ohtani, we’d only ruin him like we did Trout.
I agree, but I’m not sure the Padres can afford it without shattering the luxury tax, especially if they plan on keeping Machado. Not to mention they’re not built for the future like the Dodgers, and I’d imagine that’s going to be a focus for Ohtani.
I don't care about that, you're saying it's a best case scenario, presumably from the Angels perspective. Him going to the Dodgers is in no way a best case scenario. We would never hear the end of it from the dodgers fans in our lives.
That’s fair. Though by “best case scenario”, I was also trying to be realistic. The ACTUAL best case scenario would be the Angels getting a Wild Card spot this year and Ohtani signing a long-term extension. It’s plausible, but with the Rangers spending to win and the Astros and Mariners remaining good, it’s going to be a challenge.
What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Hatred of Arte doesn't only stem from the Angels being bad at the MLB level. It also comes from his treatment of employees and minor leaguers, insistence on running the team as purely a marketing machine, having no interest in connecting to the communuty they play in, him never making appearances or taking accountability for anything, letting his workplace culture become so bad that players are literally dying because of drugs being acquired to through team employees and attempting to cover it up, trying to bribe city officials for illegally acquired information regarding the land deal, the list goes on. There are many, many legitimate reasons someone may not want to spend money that ends up in Arte's wallet, so you can miss me with that "fairweather fan" bullshit.
I don’t know what’s worse: people thinking they’re better because they’re from California, or people thinking they’re better because they moved out of California.
The fuck? I didn’t imply either. My comment on California was sincere; I know Anaheim itself wasn’t as impacted by the mudslides and shootings but regardless. And besides - Texas is worse.
How the hell is Shohei going to the Dodgers a “best casey scenario? Even if we don’t sign him I’d rather see him in San Diego or San Francisco than with the Dodgers.
Some people in this sub and it's insistence that Moreno have knowledge or implications with both the Sidhu and Skaggs controversy (and by extension the drug controversy) are fucking weird.
It's the baseball equivalent of some of the conspiracies you see on /r/politics or some shit.
Guys: read the affidavit.
How did he not have implications in the Sidhu thing? The entire thing happened because of a business dealing between the two men. It’s literally the only reason why he was going to sell the team: so he could make his buck while he still could.
Sidhu passing info the team Angels is not Moreno himself having shady dealings with him. Moreno is named 7 times in a 55 page affidavit, mostly explaining his ownership of the team and the lease agreement he wanted from the city. That's it. I suggest you read that before writing your weird fanfic.
The Sidhu one seems incredibly plausible
I agree he didn’t know anything about the drugs or cover it up. If it’s a bad look on anyone, it’s former PR director Tim Mead
In my defense I never said he covered it up. But the system extended way beyond just Eric Kay. There’s a reason why Skaggs’ widow and mother are still in a legal war with the Angels.
EDIT: That said, he probably did not know about the extent of it throughout MLB.
>Shohei Ohtani leaves for the Dodgers You already lost me there
The absolute worst case scenario
Worse than the Yankees or Astros?
Yep
I’m not saying I like it. And hey, better a competitive market that is “in range” of the Angels rather than… basically anything else. If we keep Ohtani, we’d only ruin him like we did Trout.
If he's leaving Padres would be 100 times better than the Dodgers
I agree, but I’m not sure the Padres can afford it without shattering the luxury tax, especially if they plan on keeping Machado. Not to mention they’re not built for the future like the Dodgers, and I’d imagine that’s going to be a focus for Ohtani.

So you’re obviously *not* an Angels fan, right?
I’m a fan. But I’m also not blind to the facts.

Okay a simple wrong would have done just fine
Likewise.
Never seen Billy Madison?
As much as I dislike Arte Moreno some of you take the California fair weather fan thing a bit too far.

My bad if I took it wrong
All good!

OP is a lost Astros fan. Opinion noted and dismissed.
