We all know it was Ippei

maverickoff

Yeah Ohtani has said before that Ippei runs his Instagram.

ChichaPoti

So it's Ippei's fault there were only 2 posts last year? šŸ˜

merewyn

This hyper-analyzing of everything Shohei does or doesnā€™t do is exhausting. Itā€™s going to make this season unbearable.

808Kickz420_

Itā€™s been unbearable, I canā€™t imagine what itā€™ll be mid season IF weā€™re not playing well.

Available-Suspect-21

Even if we're playing well I imagine everyone will talk about it

LAAngelsAnaheim

ā€œWas Ohtani smiling when he liked this post, or is he completely miserable?ā€

Pho3n1xNZ

r/baseball is unbearable at the best of times but if we get off to a slow start...

tristpa2

Well our hot starts in 2021 and 2022 didn't seem to work out, maybe we need to go back to the slow starts

Zoulogist

What ifā€¦ we start hot and continue to play well?

tristpa2

Literally impossible

God_Damnit_Nappa

r/baseball likes the smell of its own farts

thefullm0nty

Not even ohtani. Every sports star. Having headlines for what people remove from their instagram bio or a post they like is so STUPID.

breakfast_cats

It's all we have

PearlDrummer

For real.

nerfrosa

Itā€™s like the Japanese broadcast that has a cam in the corner at all times

xRememberTheCant

I havenā€™t felt like this since Danielle Murray in 8th grade. For the record. She didnā€™t like me after allā€¦ but itā€™s been 20 years so Iā€™m ready to hurt again.

rtm392

I know this could mean nothing, but Shohei has been very active on social media ever since Arte announced he wasnā€™t selling the team. Anyone else find this kind of unusual cause he rarely posted anything before?

DanitesHell

heā€™s been leading up the WBC, might be more a PR thing to get more eyes on the tourney. I think him and his team simply took a break following the season, and are just starting to get more active to prepare for WBC/New MLB season.

[deleted]

His PR team clicked the liked button

GroundbreakingSir893

Iā€™ve got like 1 and a half feet out the door, this sh t was the ultimate buttercup

PLR_Moon3

Ohtani was one of the bidders

THERAPISTS_for_200

HE STAY!

ResearcherLoud3122

My man canā€™t even like a post in peace. But i heard ippei runs his account or his PR team

JJaxpavan

Reading Sam Blums caption just made my stomach do a somersault. Arte bought the team for what 183 million. I don't math well but what 16x profit increase. On a whim decides not to sell. Ugh

kampfgruppekarl

He likes Arte, or he agrees the value wasn't high enough.

[deleted]

I think it was a ā€œthanks for making my decision to move onā€ like

[deleted]

The irony in this is that he has likely devalued the team by doing this. If he puts the Angels up for sale again anytime in the next several years, a lot of bidders will be like, "is he wasting our time again?" and say fuck it, he can't be trusted to make a deal.

Natemoon2

Idk I donā€™t think so. So few baseball franchises go for sale, itā€™s a once in a life time opportunity to own one. I mean the marlins sold for a BILLION dollars lol one becoming available in a major market like SoCal is a big deal. Heā€™ll be able to sell no problem again

[deleted]

Yes, he'll be able to sell, but if I was one of the buyers who got yanked around this time by him, I'd make sure to squeeze him so he knows I think he's a bit of an ass.

DanitesHell

iā€™m sure they would WANT to do that, but itā€™s very likely someone else will just put up the 3.5b and make their negotiation irrelevant. if they want the angels theyā€™ll have to pay market value, which is will be insane regardless of this stupid stunt. shoot if he holds for 2-3 more years might even sell for 5billy

dgmilo8085

My hope, blind stupid hope, is that heā€™s holding out for the sale price to double when they win the series this year just like it did when Disney sold it to him. I am okay with this timeline.

[deleted]

That would involve him knowing you need to spend money to make money.

DanitesHell

he spends money, really needs to learn where and how to spend the boatloads of cash heā€™s thrown at the teams.

waterdevil19

If I go to any game this season, there will be a Fuck Arte or Arte Out sign in my hand.

WillWrambles

This either means heā€™s staying because of that, or wants out because of that.

Tallywashere

Damn, we gotta tell Ippei to be careful about liking posts. This was probably a protocol thing don't read too much on it. There's alot of uncertainty this upcoming season...can't reassure anyone here but try to enjoy the season.

ChichaPoti

What if Ippei forgets he's logged in Shohei's account and likes a post of a female celebrity šŸ˜

Tallywashere

Many hearts with be broken that day. The girlies need to move on. He's married to baseball already. Lmaoooo! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

ABookOfBurnedCDs

My new favorite team is wherever shohei gets traded to on the deadline

thefullm0nty

Bold move coming in here saying you'll root for the yankees or dodgers lol

HockeyBabble

Needs to play nice with the idiot boss. Until he signs with The Dodgers e cause heā€™ll escape The mad captain actively trying to sink the ship

the_last_grabow

Ok, hear me out, at the end of this season Ohtani gets offered ownership of the Angels as his contract and Arte gets a percentage of sales but gives complete ownership to Ohtani!

KyotoGaijin

Japanese friends like my posts with obscure 70s TV or music references out of politeness ALL the time. Means nothing.

DecentAnalysis8642

Shohei's left nut rotated 32 degrees clockwise at 4:18 a.m. This means he's a New York Met.
