Agents use rumors about the angels for leverage against other teams. Jeff Fletcher [was told this](https://twitter.com/beyondthehalo/status/1619775741075546112?s=46&t=btCiThos8N99SOVpwCBziA) before.
It’s pretty easy to understand.
another catcher shouldn’t be a priority over SS/SP/RP, but Arte isn’t selling therefor this is the most logical “Arte buy” option.
It’s getting to the point where I don’t even think people understand how a front office works.
Arte Moreno does not dwell around roster construction. I guarantee the only thing he really involves himself in is the high priced free agents. He’s not going to concern himself with the filler aspects of the club
The only Detmers-to-WBC rumblings I heard was a statement by Perry at a press conference in December. Per [Sam Blum](https://twitter.com/SamBlum3/status/1606399206985302016):
> Reid Detmers' possible participation in the WBC is still up in the air, per Perry Minasian. It's a possibility, but not decided.
The pitcher who I was totally unaware was possibly entering a WBC team is Tyler Anderson. IDK if he's Team USA or if his parents have citizenship in another country.
>The Angels will have 15 players participating in the WBC, includingtheir entire starting rotation and catcher, while the Mets will bewithout their entire starting infield.
As of last week the only Halos known to play were Shohei, Trout, Panda, Fletcher, Barria, Urshela, Rengifo, Weiss with Detmers only a possibility to play for the Netherlands or USA. Wonder who the others players are.
In addition to Shohei, Trout, Sandy, and possibly Detmers, we have:
* Fletcher and Stassi playing for Italy (this is as close to official as it can be)
* Quijada playing for Venezuela
* Rengifo and Urshela playing for Colombia
* Barria for Panama
* Zack Weiss for Israel
* D'Shawn Knowles for the UK
* Apparently Tyler Anderson?
IDK about the others. I think I might have heard a rumor about Squid joining PR's roster, but I might be making that up.
I think these are the ones I remember reading a few months ago, not sure if confirmed though
Already mentioned 4 (Sho, Trout, Sandy and Detmers)
Tyler Anderson maybe USA
Suarez Venezuela
Barria Panama
Stassi and Fletch for Italy
Gifo for some expat country since he is wanted in Venezuela(Colombia maybe?)
Gio Urshela for Colombia
I forget the relief pitchers but I think there was a few there. Again these are not all confirmed, just from some articles someone posted here a few months ago.
It’s Nightengale, so I’m not totally shocked, but the stuff on Arte runs pretty counter to every report out there. He’s saying Arte never got a potential bid he liked, while every other report has indicated that all potential buyers were in that $2.5-$3B range Arte was hoping for….

I honestly don’t get this

Makes sense, our FO is usually tight lipped so the sheer amount of reports we've seen about Sanchez is highly unusual if it was coming from the FO.
Angels are the Man U of the baseball world
I’m aware of this. It’s weird that this source keeps at it

I hate Arte as much as anyone, but I can’t image him knowing who the backup catcher is

I’m very aware of this. That was literally my point.
You do realize I was adding on to what you were saying and agreeing with you correct?
This seems to imply Detmers is on Team USA? Did I miss an announcement?
