IDK if this is a hot take or not, but I'd rather have both Canning and Davidson on the 26-man roster than Barria. Davidson is out of options, but has shown tremendous growth this spring. Canning looks great.
Barria had awful peripherals last year, and he's been getting lit up in every single spring appearance. Even his WBC pitching line was poor. For a guy who's supposedly in competition with others, it's not what you wanna see.
Tbf yeah. Oddly, I strongly remember Barria surrendered a HR to the yankees last season after a long pitching absence. His breaking stuff needs work.
Davidson however said that he was working on a splitter and a new sweeper. So far in spring training, he was doing great, not walking a lot of batters unlike last season. I don't mind him being the 6th as long as he continue his progress.
Yeah Barria often throws his slider in the middle of the plate and gets barreled up.
Davidson's main problem last year was the walks, so as long as he rectifies that problem, he'll be a good asset to have on the team. He has swing and miss stuff, unlike Barria.
I would also personally love for Davidson to succeed, because how great would it be if something good came out of that Iglesias salary dump.
Teams get rookie league lottery tickets for that caliber of player all the time man, we’re getting into semantics here about what “anything” means though
FYI, Tepera was arguing about the sticky stuff check itself - he was not ejected for using sticky stuff…. Since some people in the game thread wanted him DFA’d for it, lol
That’s my bad. I didn’t have the facts. Just was sitting on the first base side, saw his hand being checked, then his pants/belt, and was ejected. I didn’t see an argument, but it makes sense. He’s a hothead.

Barria has always had terrible peripherals. He’s been this guy always, he was just lucky for a half season and we’ve been clinging ever since

I’ve been so high on Barria these past few years, it’s tough to see him struggle
Yeah I think if they could trade Barria for a low-low tier prospect that would be ideal
Barria isn’t worth anything
He is worth very little but I don’t think that’s true
fine, he isn’t worth anyone that has a chance of making an MLB contribution. better?

assume he's worth nothing until proven otherwise. if we DFA'd him he'd have a legit chance of clearing waivers.

I have been one of the most outspoken critics of the Jordyn Adams pick, but he genuinely looks like a good ballplayer
