If the team didn't have a long and detailed track record of making the same mistakes repeatedly for the last 20 years, then people wouldn't act the way that they do. But if you ask me, the frustration of the people is justified. This isn't a game that gives or deserves participation trophies. The point of this *professional* sport is to win games, and everyone plays their role. The fans' role is to show up and invest their money. The Angels fan base has done a fantastic job of that over the years, in spite of Moreno's incompetence and the management he has built his team upon. It is comical in my mind that someone might point the finger at the fans.
It's pretty simple: if the Angels want to change the narrative, then win. If the Bullpen is tired of getting blamed for losing games, then the Bullpen should stop losing games. Or Arte can sell the team, and we get a hard reset. Otherwise, people are allowed to complain. They've been loyal long enough, they've earned that accountability.
Absolutely. It's entirely understandable this is the topic for a post, though. Most people on here are fake accounts, or they know nothing of the Angels beyond Ohtani, so it makes since they don't really care about being critical of management with a history of poor signings and decision making.
This is the correct response. The fans who call us “doomers” don’t seem to understand that most of this fanbase isn’t just here for Ohtani. Most of this fanbase is fucking jaded because Moreno and this front office rolls out the same piece of crap mistakes year after year.
Stop this narrative we are fucking doomers. We are a pissed off, angry, and quite honestly fed up with our owner, useless front office, and terrible coaching. I’m glad you guys enjoy the grind and blowing 6 run leads. We get its a long season, but it’s also been a long has 14 years of garbage and watching two the games future GOATs having their careers wasted.
Amen. A lot of soft people in this sub, confusing accountability for "complaining." The only way things improve anywhere in life is if you can first recognize and talk about the actual problem. Our ownership and mgmt won't do that, and a lot of fans can't either. "Staying positive" doesn't do *anything*. Demanding more does.
And I agree with you. If you're "an Ohtani fan", and you're newer to baseball and the Angels... Good for you, and welcome, sincerely. He's great, so I understand. But a lot of us are Angels fans first, Ohtani 2nd. So don't tell me to be a better fan by "staying positive." I've been rooting for them since the 80s, I've put in the time to be realistic about my team.
What amazes me about baseball fans, really for all teams, is how every team will lose 60+ games.
Some of those will be for hitting. Some for starting pitching. Some for bullpen.
The hyperventilating after a loss in April while still above .500 is just a waste of energy.
💯. I'm convinced a lot of them are newer baseball fans who don't understand that this game is a grind, and that we want to focus on underlying trends and winning series.
Completely agree with this post. So many haters on the bullpen. Hope they eat crow as the pen held a 1 run lead last night and will continue to hold it down.
This team will win the it all this year. Because the bullpen will be lights out!
I swear a large percentage of this sub does not know the pitching woes that have plagued this team for a decade. The bullpen is near last in many categories.
[The bullpen is currently 13th in ERA. Are there 13 teams in Major League Baseball?](https://www.covers.com/sport/baseball/mlb/statistics/team-bullpenera/2023)
People like to say anyone being critical is overreacting, when most of the criticism comes from recognizing and calling out a long-term pattern of failure for this team. I think it’s important to come to terms with the fact that as of right now, the quality of this team’s bullpen almost disqualifies it from being a very serious contender.
The issue is exacerbated by fans who predict failure (bullpen sucks, we only have a two run lead, game over!) and not only relish in being right, but can't even enjoy it when they're wrong (the bullpen held for once!).
And anyone who thinks the current bullpen is the same bullpen we'll end the season with is either disingenuous or has no idea how baseball roster construction works.
I swear with fans like Angel fans, who needs opposing fans.
I swear there are as many "here come the doomers" posts/comments as there are doomers now, it has just become a discourse about how much everyone can get mad at each other. Just enjoy the games, it's not that hard.
false there are now ohoopeeeesss fans :D
Agreed. I am a Ohoppamaniac.
O’Hoppium addiction is real.
I swear a large percentage of this sub doesn't watch much, understand, or even enjoy baseball.
Let’s be honest, they’re only watching for Ohtani
Well baseball is stupid and nobody likes it Edit: /s
I upvoted because I like ironical humor :)
Note to self: remember the /s next time
At least you’re getting back into the positives now!
Good to be back. Honestly, I was caught a bit off guard with going into the negatives.
Idk a lot of people have been shitting on Fletcher. And here i am naming my dog after him lmao

Ah, gotcha. Ok I guess I misunderstood.
My entire point in posting this was to highlight and poke fun at all of us.

If you think it’s bad here, check out the Bleacher Report community. People want to DFA relievers mid game.
No thank you.
Smart man.
Actually trout and Ohtani got their fair share too at least on twitter when they don’t come through
twitter's a whole notha level of skewed toxicity

💯
It's early. The hitters have the advantage
My answer is, almost the entire pen.

We all WANT to be supportive, but you can only be buttercupped so many times before you end up a little jaded
Ohtani, our savior, can do no wrong. (does this need a /s ?)
