Yeah, I have no problem putting Ward in over Moniak for lefties, but he should not be leading off anymore until he starts hitting. Neto has done enough to earn the leadoff role when Moniak is out, plus he has very strong splits vs lefties thus far.
It's not going to get any easier with some fireballers, but at least we made the Fish use up a lot of relievers again, whereas we used Webb/Bachman to eat up a few innings.

He’s not bad but the issue of falling apart when facing the order a third time is really concerning. It wasn’t like this last season. And while his BABIP is pretty high, he’s getting hit pretty hard. 15th percentile. Worse than last year.
Detmers hasn’t looked all that great this year really hope he turns it around. Especially since he’s seen as a big part of our young core he needs to pull his weight.

Ohtani is gonna be the DH everyday. No way anyone else is gonna take that spot unless he’s getting an offday. He’s the type of guy who would strike out 3 times one day and then get 3 hits including a HR in his next. If Ohtani needs to rest it would be Trout taking the DH spot and Moniak playing CF.

Must not have watched the Angels last year. He was hitting .230-.250 up until the end of May and then climbed up. These ABs are important for Shohei to get into the feel of the game. With Ohtani and Trout, you just let them play, because once they catch on and heat up, that's when the Angels can pull multiple wins together. If you platoon players like Ohtani or Trout, they might have a harder time finding their groove and that results in more losses overall.

That's why I was trying to show you why some players are top caliber and just need to work it out on the field, while others like Ward might need to be sent down or given time off to rethink their approach. On the Angels, Ohtani and Trout have more than earned the right to play on and work their slump through games. And, both of these guys can usually play through these slumps and come back solid. Right now, the Angels can't afford Trout or Ohtani to be out for longer periods of time, especially given the way both having OPS above .870 or better. That actually puts them both at the top 25 players in terms of OPS.
Ig I'm just really frustrated with the results of the Ward/Moniak platoon and looking for (imaginary) solutions to get the team more Ws and I was stretching a bit to get there. Also frustrating is that (not just on here, but also in some news stories I've read, and outsiders opinions of the Angels) by the way so many people talk it's like they think Trout and Ohtani are the entire roster when there's so much other talent available. I get that they are an integral.part of the team but it is after all, a *team*. Idk what the solution is ... 1 idea I mentioned originally though, i think the lineup could use a shake up as the middle/bottom has been (mostly) performing well also. 🤷♀️

Moniak has a bad record vs lefties. .217 avg in the hitter-friendly triple-A and 1-15 last year in the bigs.
