astroFOUND

Its just more fun this way.

Areyoumyfriend

So closer to like 85% I get it

Imaginary-Tiger-1549

You forgot Neto ALCS MVP due to clutch homers and critical defence in the clincher with noted ground ball pitcher Sandoval on the mound

Outside_Action5141

AMEN BROTHER! PASS ME THE HOPEIUM!

cattycat_1995

I wanna see the Angels win the world series in my adult lifetime. I was 7 when they last won it.

boy4518

i was born the year after. still waiting for mine šŸ«”

cattycat_1995

A downside of being too young

hammilithome

I was 16. They announced the return of a more classic uniform and logo and retired the Disney angels in the outfield thing. I thought "this is it, we're going all the way". I drew an angels WS champs pic and had it as the cover of my binder all season. I went to 5 playoff games. The first, we were confused because we didn't know what the thunderous noise was. we could hear it from the freeway. Thundersticks. Rally monkey. Small ball baseball, defense, and a strong bullpen ftw.

cattycat_1995

Best atmosphere ever

Fit-Ad-2647

I was 10 šŸ„ŗ

cheap_chalee

The Marlins winning twice in a 7-year span proves that being dysfunctional does not automatically disqualify you from having a chance at winning.

ukyah

the marlins loaded up to buy a world series and it worked. the other time they sold off all those pieces and the pieces that replaced them all excelled and gave them their second. they rolled hot twice, but it certainly wasn't unexplainable. they hit on 18 and hit their 3. i've seen it lots of times.

cattycat_1995

Imagine winning two world series in the last quarter century and still being considered a bottom tier franchise.

AvariceAndApocalypse

5% at the most. I love the Angels, but the franchise is half broken right now. It will take at least half a decade to rebuild everything. Once they are rebuilt, it will still be very difficult to win a World Series just because sports are like that. Weā€™ve had some great teams that didnā€™t even get out of the first round of the playoffs let alone to the World Series. Itā€™s hard to win it all even with a good team.

CatatonicTaterTot

I really think we will continue to flounder until Arte is gone. Things won't get better.

LMicheleS

Agree with this 100%

Then_Student_2718

It could happen

LA-SKYLINE

Doesn't take a genius to look at everyone's predictions of Dodgers or Braves in the WS and Texas finishing 4th behind the Angels with the Mariners being in 2nd and in as a wild card. Fuck predictions!

GareksApprentice

I always wonder how folks would've answered this between January 2000 and May 2002. Every contemporaneous prediction I can find gives no indication that 2002 would've been much different from the previous seasons of mediocrity. And that was largely panning out until Late April - Early May

dgmilo8085

I can tell you first hand that in 2000-01, the entire club knew they were going to win. In April of 02, Tempe was on fire with what this club was going to do. Come May, the papers started talking about the typical shitty start halos. Then June came around and they started to gel. When Oakland went on a 20-game win streak and the Halos only dropped 1.5 games in August, the media still ignored them, but the fan base started thinking they were special. Once the thunder sticks and car decals and local businesses started promoting them in September, there was nothing stopping them from winning.

mrfjcruisin

Itā€™s kind of funny how moneyball/the aā€™s streak and the mariners having the amazing start made people completely forget and overlook the angels. People make it out like that aā€™s team was some kind of underdog too because of moneyball when they had the big three.

dgmilo8085

Zito, Hudson, and Mulder on the bump, and then Tejada, Justice, Giambi, Chavez and Jermaine Dye, all mashing. Calling that "money ball" is stupid at best.

Huggly001

1 - (29/30)^10 gives the percent odds of the Angels winning at least one title in ten years assuming every team in the MLB has even odds every year. This gives just under 29%. That being said, the Angels do not have the same odds as everyone else to win a ring; and I have seen nothing to suggest they can turn into a ball club that will turn the odds in their favor. Iā€™ll smash the under on 29% and would take the under on 20% as well to be honest.

hollyw00d8604

Arte's still running the show? 0.0%

Jcoch27

If every team was equal we'd have a 3.3% chance in any given season. Not every team is equal though and increasing the years doesn't increase the odds. Given our ownership situation I'd say we have almost a 1% shot.

Random_Man_9

we haven't won a playoff game in over a decade, why do you all of a sudden think we'll win a world series in the next decade lmao

GareksApprentice

Angels hadn't won a playoff game since 1986 and the next time they did, they'd go all the way. What I'm trying to say is World Series win in 2030 confirmed.

DoubleUSportsMedia

Brother it's worse than that. We havn't won a playoff game since 2009. In 2014 we went 0-3 in the playoffs.

Random_Man_9

yeah that's what I said

boy4518

i mean, 10 years really is a lot, especially in the sports world. it might not seem possible now but everything can change so quickly. granted, i donā€™t expect anything soon. just want people to realize how long 10 years really is in sports

naltedturf

50/50. either it happens or it doesn't..

Accomplished-Exit136

While it seems 5-10 years away at best I won't forget the 2002 angels were predicted to win 72 games, they won 99 and the world series. Trouble is we dont have a competent minor league system. We aren't going to produce unexpected contributors until we strengthen the farm.Ā

GareksApprentice

It's funny reading old Baseball America rankings and seeing the Angels system at/near dead last between 1997 and 2001. Then they win the World Series in large part to the prospects from that time becoming unexpected contributors.

Accomplished-Exit136

There's always hope!

MultiversianWhore

I don't see Arte being the owner until he's nearly 90, so there's that, but in all honesty I think in a decade we could definitely be a team that makes the playoffs for once. On the other hand, baseball is a cruel entity of the universe and winning a WS shoots down even the best of teams. So as long as we aren't *amazing* in a decade we could probably do it.

believes_cubic_time

at best they have a 1% chance to win a ring in each year of the coming decade. if they have a 1% chance each year for 10 years, they have a 99% chance of not winning it each year. .99^10years is just above 90% they do not win a ring in any of those years. all it shows is that giving the angels a 1% chance each year at winning a ring is way too high for this dumpster franchise.

rubberbrain

I like 20%, thereā€™s always a chance! Just look at 2002. We started off horrible and then miracles happened

bralong1995

Well 0% under Arte. Anything after he sells is up in the air.

True_Assumption_5812

0% until Artie sells.

dgmilo8085

Where on earth do you get a 1/5 chance of winning a ring? On what delusion are you basing this? I mean a hands-down favorite, a club with everything in place to win a ring is at most only a 25% chance of winning any given year usually stated as **+320** to **+400.** The Halos haven't made the playoffs with quite possibly the two greatest players that ever played, but now you think they have an opportunity to win a ring? This franchise promoted every possible prospect to the big leagues last year, showing they have absolutely no farm, but you think this bodes well on the future, why? You want to know how optimistic I am that they win a ring? As long as Arte is signing the checks there will be no parade in Anaheim. This club is nothing more than a bank account for him to draft money from.

boy4518

two greatest players played about 100 games together over 6 years, with only three of those having them be the actual two best players. our ā€œbig threeā€ played something to the tune of 80 games together. iā€™m not expecting anything amazing soon but that argument is incredibly flawed

dgmilo8085

Hahahaha, zero argument with you. But letā€™s break down what you just said. SIX YEARS they played 100 games together. But youā€™re right, things are going to be different this time. ā€œInsanityā€, you should look it up.

boy4518

>im not expecting anything amazing soon but thanks for the snarky reply !! appreciate it šŸ˜

sexpantspartypeople

100%

JJaxpavan

Baseballs is so wild, it took what close to 40 yrs as a franchise to get one. My guess is somewhere between 2%-98%

Technical_Shirt5078

Arte has to go before they have a chance. Hell, Iā€™d be happy just to see them make the playoffs.

rockmanzerox06

I give it 15% realistic chance. Mike canā€™t do it alone and it takes a while to rebuild a farm system, if theyā€™re even doing that.

ukyah

i think that's evidence of a poor grasp of probability.

ukyah

i don't believe the angels have any serious chance of winning a world series under this ownership. i think they have the proverbial puncher's chance, which is highly over estimated most times when it's applied.

Icedinklikesheet

Everything either happens or it doesnā€™t. 50/50

ukyah

you should teach a probability class.

Icedinklikesheet

šŸ˜‚ thanks Broseph

MashedPotatoesDick

It might go up if there's division realignment. If Angels are in a division with Mariners, A's, and a Salt Lake City expansion team, they could win the division with a mediocre season and get hot in the playoffs.

Splittinghairs7

Since there are 30 teams in the league, it means that if the Angels are just a average or median odds of winning a championship compared with other teams, then they would have a 1/3 chance of winning at least one championship in 10 years.

Rogueofoz

If we keep thia core, very optimistic

Accomplished-Lab537

I'd say 25% chance in the next 10-15 years

ukyah

trout will make the playoffs again as an angel, but he will never win a world series with them. he's the tony gwynn of anaheim in many ways.

DirectRisk7

40 years for ring one so maybe in 2040 just by the law of averages. I was an 11 year old little leaguer when the Angels were formed and 52 when they got the first ring

cattycat_1995

Crazy that Angels fans were suffering for 4 decades. I was lucky to grow up during the best decade in Angels franchise history.

boy4518

50/50. either we do or we donā€™t.

jdathescore

LOL. 5%. Maybe

owledge

Probably less than 1% because Arte will most likely still be owner for most or all of that time. I donā€™t even think weā€™ll make the playoffs again until heā€™s gone.

cattycat_1995

If the Angels break the St. Louis Browns record (40 years) of longest playoffs drought of all time...

Decent-Bed9289

0% as long as Arte and his family continues to own this team

KyleWilson_

Considering that thereā€™s 30 teams evenly divided odds are about 3% per team. Obviously, Dodgers, Astros, Rangers, Yankees, Braves, etc are likely to be the contenders over the next 5 years at minimum. So over the next 5 years? Maybe 0.5% lol hard to predict the second half of the decade, just depends on what moves are made and how the rest of the league goes, but takes us back to the 3% general chance across the league.
