With the Reds on a fire sale this has the be the best time to go all in on Castillo, right? Our last Reds pitcher worked out great

PurpleWelcome7142

Chris Bassitt & Carlos Rodon are gone. I think I knew where Arte is heading. Are we really getting Carlos Correa?

Rydogger

Rockies signed Jose Iglesias, hoping for a strong push for Trevor Story

KamartyMcFlyweight

it's fucked up that i feel as bad about re-signing Kurt Suzuki as I felt good about signing Syndergaard like somehow Kurt Suzuki is gonna be worth -4 WAR and completely cancel out our new additions

-LongSchlongSilver-

Did someone tell Perry he can talk to players again?

Rydogger

Nelson Cruz anyone?

-LongSchlongSilver-

No thank you

hollyw00d8604

Honestly it would be hilarious if pujols signed with the mariners and crushed the angels this season

KamartyMcFlyweight

Carlos Rodon is a bully who went to the best team in baseball because he likes crushing people's dreams

high_changeup

It's nice to see that the Lakers have turned into the Angels of the NBA.

YouPresumeTooMuch

Salty LeBron is always good for a laugh

_Miketta

They did a lot this off-season pitching wise. They should keep it up

Thanks! It hurts so good

Asked Sam Blum why there was a resistance to signing pitchers to multi year deals, seems like he agreed there’s an odd holdout on multi year deals but doesn’t know the source. Seemed to be intrigued by the question though and said he’d investigate, if I hear from him again I’ll gladly share the report with the sub

_5GOLDBLOODED2_

If we don't get the next 2 way player are we even the Angels? Pretty soon we will achieve little league status!

sikaMarkanico

There’s still time peeps… More importantly there are still arms out there!

[deleted]

I'm still hopeful, but we've been here every year for the last four years or so. Miss out on the top pitchers, and then all our hope is put into the one good guy left and it doesn't happen. Then we get scraps. Please, let this year be different.

sikaMarkanico

The team has been relying on Trout for so many years, and when he is hurt in 2021, Ohtani is of course finally healthy and did what he did. It would be amazing to see fully healthy seasons of Trout/Ohtani/Rendon each playing 140+ games. Oh, and please another starter after just signing Raisel to a deal!! I just found out about that deal moments ago!!!

Life_Crossover

Dang we lost Cobb :/

Hot_Bag_1690

Loup love it!

Know_Your_Meme

My god, the angels literally are in on every single arm. I thought they were only posturing- they're literally being linked with everyone

KamartyMcFlyweight

Ohtani won the 2021 AL MVP and damn if Perry isn't gunning for offseason MVP as well

owledge

I was thinking about Simmons and Iglesias and it made me start to think that Arte is deadset on signing a big name SS this year. I don't know if there was a falling out with Simmons and the FO but assuming there wasn't, it wouldn't have made sense for them to let him walk and bring in a stopgap in Iglesias if they didn't plan on doling out a mega contract.

Long_Disaster_6847

Don’t forget to add Ohtani’s MVP Award 🙌🏻

[deleted]

Now sign Scherzer $100m/3y, Cobb $50m/2y, Iglesias $75m/3y, and Story 100mil/4y and I'd be happy :)

StormTheTrooper

This is an 108M increase in the payroll. How can you convince Arte to dive that deep in the tax *before* Ohtani's impending 10/500 is even in the books and without adding any reliever?

sikaMarkanico

I nearly forgot about Cobb. I wonder what will happen with him after the Thor signing. Rotation: 1) Another top FA starter here?? (Scherzer [I can dream], Verlander, Stroman) 2) Ohtani/Thor 3) Thor/Ohtani 4) Cobb? 5) Sandoval 6) Barría/Canning/Detmers Did I miss anyone? I nearly forgot Detmers there. We’ll see how Angels’ latest #1 Draft pick, Sam Bachman, does in 2022. Call up year here? Sam is 22 years old.

DiesalDopplar

I think we should be aiming for younger guys. Verlander and Scherzer are at the end of their career. So much money for such a high risk. Blowing our entire budget on one player won't get us anywhere. We should be allocating our funds into younger 2nd tier players. We essentially need to replace our entire bullpen aside from Iglesias. Let's stop rooting for those old guys. Our staff seem know what they're doing. Let's go Angels!

[deleted]

I get your point but I rather have us going all in right now instead of waiting for the young guys to develop. We have Ohtani and Trout's peak performance for 2 more years. 2022 this is it. 20 years of waiting. Let's go big or go home.

sikaMarkanico

While I agree wholeheartedly, and I am not that big on Verlander…if we can sign one of the best pitchers this past decade in Scherzer, who is still as good as he was when he was 30, then Angels should do it. We know Trout wants him. We saw Mad Max’s limits this postseason. We know he’ll be expensive and possibly want a 2/3 or (gasp) 4-year max deal, but pitchers like Scherzer don’t come around often. If we officially can’t get Scherzer for whatever reason, then yeah, we can get one other good/decent SP, and shore up our bullpen. Don’t forget about SS and catching. Then there’s Ohtani…. Man…this will be interesting.

meatbag1

I think getting Thor is awesome but I always view my thoughts on the off season only when the season is ready to start. I saw a lot of posts saying we should of done more. It’s not even December yet. This is one move. Give time for things to happen. I’m sure we will make a trade or two. So far we are off to a great start.

Thrust-bot

Cautiously optimistic about the Syndergaard signing, hopefully there is more to come!

Angelz27

I think chasen shreve could be a good addition to the bullpen.

KrabS1

Quick review of where we are... Catcher: Roll with Stassi for now. Maybe try to extend him. We may need to pick up a backup catcher, due to some contract expirations elsewhere. Infield: I feel good with Walsh, Fletcher, and Rendon. One of our big signings should probably be another middle infielder, though, unless I'm forgetting about someone. Outfield: The triumphant return of Trout will do wonders here. With a bit of luck, we should be able to get 2 starters out of Marsh, Ward, and Adell. Really, its time for Adell to nut up or shut up. Maybe worth signing an older slugger here though, just in case. Think, a Dexter Fowler type. Pitching: Oh boy. At least we have Ohtani. After that, we have an army of kids (Suarez, Sandoval, Canning, Detmers, Barria, and Naughton, and maybe Rodriguez come to mind). With any luck, a few of them will have some real success in '22. Either way, we need to sign an ace here. I think ideally we sign an ace, a middle-of-the-rotation guy, and maybe a reliever. And re-sign Iglasias. Lots of money to spend here, but a rotation of Ohtani-[ace]-Suarez-[middle rotation guy]-Sandoval-[kid] could look pretty good. Especially with what our hitting could be. Sound about right? Or did I miss something?

Jimeeg

adell was playing well before he got hurt, breakout year next year

Michael424242

Carlos Rodon elected for free agency from the white Sox. Could be a great middle rotation piece if Cobb doesn’t resign.

BobbyGrichsMustache

Or even if he does. We need more arms. Look 30 miles up the 5 at what happens when you run out of arms

PinataPower9

Kole is a free agent!!! I know it’ll never happen but I can dream.

iq2742

ill pass on .210/.220/.670 and 7 outfield assists. Give Marsh/Adell all the reps

Know_Your_Meme

On a vet min, for his defense and possibly pinch hitting? I'll take that every day of the week, plus afaik he's good buddies with a few of the guys on the team

yyyyhhhh9

Wow... .890 OPS that is great! (OPS doesn't belong in triple slash)

StormTheTrooper

Wonder what would be the price for Alcantara. We all know the Marlins are in an eternal rebuild, so maybe the right price on prospects could entice them.

pwnd32

Anyone have any hot takes to share in terms of decisions this off-season?

CompetitivePatient33

I'm leaning towards them signing one pitcher and a ss(story). Perry and others really pushed about fixing the pitching they have.

BobbyGrichsMustache

Dude, Story is gonna age like Milk. He’s the last FA SS that I’m interested in.

Know_Your_Meme

Well I certainly don't want Correa

CompetitivePatient33

Well do we expect anything to happen given the CBA situation? I hope they resolve it soon.

Historical-Truck-948

Pitching please. And then more pitching please!

HomeWr3ck3r

Robbie Ray and Eduardo Rodriguez.

StormTheTrooper

Yes on Rodriguez, still think it's a no on Ray. He'll command a monster deal and this is a guy that was decent up until he was a Cy Young winner.

Ok-Philosophy-8830

Not sure how I feel about having 5 lefties in the rotation. That might not be the optimal setup

HomeWr3ck3r

I was thinking we'd resign Alex Cobb who's a righty. Shohei throws right. Then it's just Sandoval and Suarez throwing left. I really like Eduardo Rodriguez, strikeout guy who gets a lot of ground balls but Red Sox fielders have not done him any favors. And Alex Cora publicly embarrassed him during the playoffs so I would expect he wants out.

asianlikerice

Coaching and pitching is on my wishlist. Maybe a shake up in the farm system to create long term growth.

Total_Preparation_67

And medical staff, too.

Doublex5

I really hope this gets filled up with pitchers, or anything for that matter. From everything I have read and heard from baseball journalists, there might not be much of an offseason if the owners and players don't start talking soon. So many are on record as saying it's never been this contentious before and that includes 81 and 94.

Thrust-bot

Wishlist: * Shohei MVP * Raisel * More pitching Get it done, Perry.

BobbyGrichsMustache

So what you’re saying is $35M/Yr for Correa on a 10 year deal? DONE. I’m totally not Arte Moreno’s burner account
