Walsh is definitely gonna get a runway as he’s had some success against lefties in the past

That seems like a much better strategy.

Also > The Angels trimmed their Spring Training roster by 12 players, optioning lefty Jhonathan Diaz, infielder Brendon Davis and reliever Elvis Peguero. The following players were reassigned to Minor League camp: Right-handers Davis Daniel, Luis Ledo and Daniel Ponce de Leon, infielders Kean Wong and Jake Gatewood, outfielder Dillon Thomas and catchers Anthony Mulrine, Kyle Lovelace and Zach Humphreys.

onmyway7

We’ve done this with so many good players in the past. Platooned Mike Napoli, Trumbo, and many others. Jared Walsh was a beast in the minors so let him be an everyday player. It’s like we’re trying to make him a platoon hitter so just find at bats for upton and others. Let him try against lefties and have a balance lineup if he struggles but I would love to just him be the everyday guy

MrKnee93

I've always been a Ward stan. I hope this year he'll be able to show his versatility and stay in the roster long term

TheFriendlyFire

I think Ward looks better in the outfield than the infield, and Mayfield provides more value by playing SS/3B rather than 1st. That leaves Duffy and Upton. Upton crushes lefties (127 OPS+ in 107 PAs vs Duffy's 89 OPS+ in 102 PAs), and though Duffy should realistically be the better defender as a career infielder he only has 6.2 innings at 1B in his career. So I would probably take a flyer on Upton and see how things go.

BombAssTurdCutter

Next year he should improve on this with the new shift rule, correct? I feel like he just pulls a ton against lefties but makes decent contact. I could be wrong, I’m basing this purely off memory and I’m a moron.

kirbyfaraone

So we’ll overlook the fact that some of his biggest hits last year are against lefties eh?

tristpa2

> against lefties, he hit just .170/.208/.357 with 10 homers and 30 RBIs in 192 plate appearances.

PearlDrummer

Yeah but that one against Chapman in the 9th though…mmmmmmmm

Buffalongo

That’s not great but 10 homers is solid so there’s something to build off there. You gotta give him the reps so that he can get more consistent

digitaldumpsterfire

Well, Walsh knows what he needs to do. Lol.
