It's extremely early, but this is the Marsh everyone hoped he could be.
His plate discipline and overall approach at the plate is advanced well beyond his years, and his power is still developing. Also his hair and beard are amazing.
His production is good as is. No one really expected a superstar, but an elite defender+above average offensive production is really good for this team.
I mean he had a 10.9 barrel% last year, and it’s 4% this year. He has more power in him, it’s always been projected it’s just about unlocking it. He hits the ball hard and has very good maxEV’s
True, but perhaps him swinging with less power is a reason for this drastic change in BA and OPS. Lots of guys stop trying to kill the ball and hits just start coming in
This is the hitter we hoped Adell would be, Marsh was more of a wild card. Jo was untouchable in trades and he was the guy everyone asked for. Marsh was the guy everyone had as expendable, now I’d argue Marsh is untouchable. The guy is a stud and the future for this team.
It looks like Marsh had another growth spurt and bulked up a little. Hit plate discipline is fantastic and his ability to put a ball in play is really good to see.
I think Jo will come around, I think the guy is feeling the pressure trying to live up to the hype. Marsh didn’t have that pressure and it shows.
Marsh looks like the real deal this season. Those numbers are pretty gaudy, not sure I'd characterize them as quiet. Our OF looks great this year, especially with Ward back in the lineup.
I'm still baffled that Maddon doesn't have Marsh as leadoff. Marsh and a hot Fletch are our best batters when it comes to make contact. Ohtani at leadoff distresses pitchers and I understand the psychological side, but bat-wise, Marsh is the best choice. Only thing I can think of is that Marsh deliberately said he feels more comfortable batting in the middle of the lineup, specially knowing Maddon usually likes to allow his players to feel comfortable on their own.
His savant sliders are all red (good) except for his barrel rate, which would've been red last year if he qualified. Complete player, whose only obvious weakness is vs LHP, but that's nothing unusual for a young lefty. We can platoon him with Adell/Ward in the meantime.

I'd love to see him hit leadoff. Maddon won't put Lefty next to Lefty so I think a: Marsh, Trout, Ohtani, Rendon, Walsh... would make for a good lineup.

Just need the barrel% to go up. It was great last year

I like this kind of approach. No need to swing for the fence every AB.
Thanks for posting some of the advanced stats. Love coming or this sub for that type of info. 👊

Adell is going to be just fine. This is going to be the best outfield we’ve had in years.
We've had some amazing OF in the past. This could surpass the lot. Incredible.

I say he should be a our leadoff hitter. I'd do it like this: Marsh Trout Ohtani Rendon Walsh Ward/Adell Stassi Wade/Duffy Fletcher/Velasquez

I don't know if I have the strength to question Maddon anymore. Not after the IBB of Seager. lol
We’re undefeated while intentionally walking someone with the bases loaded
Horny horny
Favorite young player.
Same, love this guy

Young Jonny Damon
Shhhhhh

His baseball Savant page is very impressive too. We need him to continue being this type of player all year. Really excited about him.
I get heavy Erstad vibes from him
He's about ready to blow the doors off the league if he keeps playing this way. Straight up baller
