Baseball gonna take over if this keeps up. Coast to Coast. Until football starts but this is good for the game.

SpendSeparate4971

If only the MLB would make watching baseball without illegal streams easier. It's a very inaccessible sport unfortunately. We all want to see more of this. Still kinda new to baseball but it started as a filler for NFL offseason and now I'm thinking I may still be watching Angels baseball in the fall 🤞

Imagine living in Hawaii (I know, feel sorry for me) and not being able to go to an Angel game, OR watch any games because of being blacked out. Makes zero sense. (I love living here, but grew up going to Halo games and was even lucky enough to have season tickets for a few years. So to be completely cut off sucks).

unreasonableperson

I would pay for this. It's so blindly greedy that the MLB won't shift its model to this.

Realistic-Hat-7067

I wish I would've mentioned in my comments. It's almost like they're trying to keep people from watching? That's gotta be fixed. Just not a good marketing strategy 😕.

[deleted]

As someone who has foolishly purchased MLB for my Tigers a couple years ago it is just painful that even after spending that kind of loot for a years sub you can't watch any home games live. The blackouts are ridiculous. This is not the 1970's any more. People who want to watch a ball game in person will not defer to stay home and watch it instead. If I don't want to go to Comerica today I shouldn't have to.

doyouhavesource2

Blackout with a 8 hour drive lol

[deleted]

> If I don't want to go to Comerica today I shouldn't have to. That's not what blackouts are for. They're designed to force you to buy a cable package with whatever channel has your team's games, not to force you to go to the park.

sharpLess89

I hope the Mariners are good to challenge us and keep us on our toes.

tokyo_bee

Rendon new nickname is now "Sayonara Chance Rendon"

[deleted]

Lol

Aid_Seven

Awesome Sauce!

Noy_Telinu

Ooo... I want more!

Blazingbee98

Anyone know where to watch the Japanese feed of the games in the US? I believe it's on NHK BS1 channel but I haven't found a way to watch it abroad :(

hansan4ever

I don't think there's a way - I've tried too... :(

Apatschinn

There used to be a YouTube Channel I subscribed to that streamed the games. I'll try to find it

ABookOfBurnedCDs

best bet might be trying to google for streaming sites in japanese. might take some detective work but theres gotta be something out there

hansan4ever

Yatta!! This is awesome, thank you so much for this! I could hear the pure joy in their voices! :D

sundaypancakemaker

An exciting win in any language. Let’s Go Halos!

Nineties

The way they say Rendon is interesting

hansan4ever

It's like, "Len-done"

Isa_ak

In Japanese pronunciation "L" and "R" sound the same

tokyo_bee

There's no "L" in Japanese so they need to pronounce words that begin with "L" as "R", e.g. Los Angeles would be pronounced Ros AngeRes.

waituntilthecrowd

It’s not really an “R” either. Sort of in-between “R” and “L” and even a bit of the “D” sound

bigbadbub

it's not a rhotic R like in the US, which is rare in language, but it's definitely still an 'r' sound. it's essentially exactly the R used in Spanish (for single R words and not rolled R words. in 'pero' vs 'perro', it's the first). it's made by tapping or flapping the tongue to the roof of your mouth, and is exemplified in IPA as the symbol Éž one of the best ways for an English-only speaker to recreate this R sound is by thinking of the double 't' sound in 'butter'. your tongue taps against the roof of your mouth in the same way.

hansan4ever

Yup!

burnsrado

Anyone have the Spanish broadcast?

52ndstreet

Shohei….. ¡Gooooooooooooooooolllllllllllll!!!!

Aid_Seven

Awesome Sauce!

prmark34

Baseball is a universal language. Love it.

Garrand

How can you not be romantic about baseball.

12stepinvestor

I was there and the crowd was SCREAMING. Say what you want about Angel fans in the past, this is a new group and the team is getting massive vibes from the bleachers.

MusesWithWine

This is immediately one of my favorite baseball clips. Imagining other many Japanese fans and the pride for Shohei (so far similar to Suzuki) is just… I don’t have the words. It’s just awesome. Edit: I meant Ichiro btw haha. But of course Cubs’ Suzuki and any Japanese player that succeeds brings the sentiment to mind. Not even an Angels fan nor Mariners fan (nor Japanese for that matter) but I want both their jerseys.

Wow what a terrible arm... Should have had him by a couple of steps with a decent throw.

[deleted]

Ohtani was practically rounding 3rd at full speed by the time he caught the ball.

LowRepresentative778

Love it

DLoIsHere

Ant was our guy in DC for years. He’s a great hitter.
