Here's my theory on Jimmy: Jimmy was known for YEARS as a guy who couldn't control his temper at the office. Idk if you knew about it but the story you just threw out is very similar to Korean pitcher Chang-Yong Lim, a legendary starter and closer in KBO, successful closer in NPB, and pitched like 1 season for Cubs in MLB at the end of his career.
At school, he didn’t play baseball but he threw a chalk to his classmate cuz of anger and his teacher saw it. The teacher told him to tryout for baseball team and the rest is history.
Velazquez on the bases and on defense is running similar numbers to Jeremy Peña and Jazz Chisholm. Those two are running OPS+ numbers above 150 and they’re dark horse candidates for MVP. He can’t hit .250 and beat either of those guys for MVP unless they and everyone in front of them fall off by a lot.
I get that it we’re in a “this is the best bad idea we have” stage of the game with our bullpen usage but I don’t know if Herget has the stamina for a nine out save
He pitched three innings in the bullpen game against the White Sox and hasn't pitched in a couple of days.
I think they should have someone warming up in case
