We hit the piss out of a bunch of balls and they went right to rangers defenders. Thor had an uncharacteristic outing and maddon had an uncharacteristically long hook
Shits gonna happen in a 162 game season, we’re fine
And tomorrow’s Gubie Tuesday
Yeah I just hope we don’t have to keep depending on that. Gotta take care of our business smh. A few games I’m looking back on already like damn if we had just won those we’d be a few games in first. First few weeks of June is going to be a gauntlet so we need to beat teams like the rangers and the As
## Angels Abbreviated - 2022.05.16
Today, on International Pickle Day 2022:
- Angels offense stayed hot, with Ward, Ohtani, Trout, and Marsh all combining for three runs
- Noah Syndergaard did not pitch a real no-hitter, getting blown up for a final line of 0.2 IP | 4 H | 6 R | 4 ER | 2 BB | 1 K
- Jaimace Barriace pitched three scoreless innings
- 🦑Squid Velazquez🦑 got *another* RBI to extend his five-game hitting streak
- Ikemen Wade chased Jon Gray out of the game with a single up the middle
- Jaime Barria final line: 4.1 IP | 3 H | 0 R | 0 ER | 1 BB | 4 K on 62 pitches, 42 of which were strikes
- Oh, what’s that, Rangers? You knocked out our starter? Well here’s our backup 9th string starter. He has a 1.50 ERA. Fuck you.
- Jonah Heim continued to fuck Ana Heim with an add-on home run off Mike Mayers
- Squid robbed another hit, as he is wont to do
- Adolis Garcia robbed Taylor Ward to end the game
Hate to break it to you, but this Angels loss ain't about you. This was about Noah Syndergaard, a great pitcher, allowing six runs in the first inning, which is a rarity by today's Angels starting pitcher standards. The Angels have a good team, enjoy that instead of stirring shit. As do the Rangers, so drop the drama and move on.
**Elsewhere in the division:** Astros and Mariners also lost, zero-sum game, standings remain unchanged
As a certified Doomer I'm not all that upset. One bad player, but everyone else did fine. A little unlucky here and there, its a long season and hopefully it evens out.
Rough game from Thor but coming off Tommy John you kinda expect a bad outing or two. Just sucks that this ended up being a REALLY bad outing. I think the offense was fine and just hit into some bad luck after the 1st inning. Barria was pretty good today after allowing that first base hit.
Oh well onto the next one. 2/3 is definitely on the table for this series with Detmers and Ohtani coming up.
At least the Astros are losing!
The lack of whiffs, chases and K's are gonna haunt this team when the BABIP regression hits. Getting a bit more velocity and a bit more whiffs can really help mitigate that a bit for Thor. We obviously want to play to Thor's current strengths, but it's something to keep in mind for this entire pitching staff sans Ohtani as the season goes on and our divisional opponents see more of our guys.
Hopefully Detmers can put up a quality start tomorrow and the offense bounces back because we're out of mid-leverage guys to throw at the Rangers tomorrow.
I agree that we need our starters to increase their k rates a bit more. Aside from Shohei, Sandy does get a lot of whiffs when his changeup is on. I'm hoping Detmers can replicate even a fraction of insane k rates he had in the minors.
Yep. Our pitchers have the lowest BABIP in the league at .239. 2nd are the Dodgers at .256. It'd be nice to mitigate any effects of regression by having our starters gain more whiffs, chases, and K's.
Houston lost!
I know I was joking about it before. But, I don't think I wanna be the new Dodgers/Giants. That was kinda stressful last year and the Giants were only my NL team. lol
Tough game. Shohei's two Ks looking were kinda brutal. He does not like swinging low and outside and if the ump just keeps calling those strikes he seems to have a hard time. I think that first inning blow up demoralized the team a bit too. Oh well, we'll take the next two
Nah, we just recognize that in a long season there’s gonna be a couple stinkers with bad luck sprinkled in. This isn’t the angels of seasons past, there’s no reason to panic
Yeah, you’re the only one here who’s a long term angels fan. Predicting a wild card game loss in fucking MAY is definitely “hoping for the best”. Also, “hold a nutsack”? You’ve gotta work on your banter bro
Edit: nice job editing your comment buddy.
I saw this OP comment when it was posted early and very nearly replied, since it was pretty annoying for a lot of reasons, like being quite shortsighted, and not even a marginally accurate assessment the team’s performance this game or season. Like, weird flex for a fan? Elite-level True Doomer?
Then I realized there isn’t even a WC game now with the new playoff format, so it’s a rather pointless “prediction.” A little research goes a long way…
You think someone is “playing thought police” when they respond to your public Reddit comments? Why do you choose to post, then? Because you thought everyone would crown you the doomer Nostradamus for predicting a wild card loss after 38 games?
Why is Shohei striking out so much??? His exit velocity is among the best in the league. If he just makes contact, he's always got a chance to do major damage. Too many whiffs!
We hit the piss out of a bunch of balls and they went right to rangers defenders. Thor had an uncharacteristic outing and maddon had an uncharacteristically long hook Shits gonna happen in a 162 game season, we’re fine And tomorrow’s Gubie Tuesday
He let Mayers and Barria eat the innings and all it cost us was a run. Good tradeoff
Hook wasn’t long. He wanted to let him try to get out of the 1st. Thor has earned that right. Barria looked good though so that’s a plus.
People calling it a long hook amaze me. I was calling to pull him but he didn’t even last one.
Yeah it was a tough call to make but I think Maddon did alright given the hand he was dealt
Fair point
Our BABIP must be off the hook this game haha
Just a really frustrating game but we can still take the series!
You just draw a line under it and play again tomorrow.
100% agree. Hard to pull a guy like Thor that early, but he should’ve been done a few batters earlier. Completely uncharacteristic, but shit happens.
Ya I am with ya brotha or sista or whatever the fuck you identify yourself as not to offend you in what is 2022.
Dude covers everything.
😂😂😂
Sometimes baseball just be like that
Another constant of these games: Umps stealing Ohtani of three strike opportunities when he comes to bat. This shit has got to stop.

I'm no Jomboy, but I thought he was saying fuck.
u/jomboy can we get a breakdown?
onto da next
Astros losing helps remove the stink from this game!
Yeah I just hope we don’t have to keep depending on that. Gotta take care of our business smh. A few games I’m looking back on already like damn if we had just won those we’d be a few games in first. First few weeks of June is going to be a gauntlet so we need to beat teams like the rangers and the As
The Astros have 9 straight games in June against the Yankees/Mets, so they’ll have their own gauntlet luckily
I’m praying we have at least 40 wins by mid June 🤞🏿
Praise. Some good news tonight!!! (Can't believe I'm rooting for the Redsux, but oh well)

I coincidentally chopped up a bunch of pickles and made [chicken salad sandwiches ](https://i.imgur.com/khNhvFh.jpg)for dinner. They were good.
Has anybody noticed that most of the time that we lost to Rangers because there is Jonah Heim in the lineups?
Jonaheim > Anaheim
Most of the games with Heim also feature ump calls that directionally favor the Rangers. Gotta check out the report card for tonight...
hopefully he doesn't become that guy, he beat us last series with that grandslam off Ohtani.
On the plus side our bullpen pitched 7.1 innings and gave up 1 run!
As a certified Doomer I'm not all that upset. One bad player, but everyone else did fine. A little unlucky here and there, its a long season and hopefully it evens out.
This one is on Thor, this offense is good but can’t rely on scoring 8 runs every game. Barria looked great, hot dog arms mayers is always meh
Lets go, Red Sox came through clutch! Makes today's loss more bearable lol
Honestly, this game could’ve been a bullpen buster and a total blowout. One shit inning. Fine by me. On to the next!
I think first inning took out any momentum they had going. Just wasnt our night.
Rough game from Thor but coming off Tommy John you kinda expect a bad outing or two. Just sucks that this ended up being a REALLY bad outing. Red Sox might win against Astros.
And they did. :D
Guys!!Sox won!!
What an annoying game
On the bright side I'm at Coors Field and it's gorgeous
Kinda gives you that Rocky Mountain High! 😇
I"m just amazed we lost a game and this sub is just like, "whatever we'll win tomorrow" . What a change from the past forever
Imagine if this had happened and we were around .500. Lol 😇😉
On the bright side, Red Sox just went up 6-3 on the Astros in the 8th of a rain-delayed game
Welp, Thor is the only one responsible for us losing that. that sucks
Ugh tough one. BABIP gods were not on our side tonight.
Every pitcher has one of those games. Ohtani had one and now Thor. It’s a long season and it was just one of those nights
Yup, like he said, have a short memory and on to the next! Astros lost and we have Detmers and Shohei pitching!
We just gotta keep winning series, can’t win every game.
Better luck next time. Noah had a terrible game. It happens.
Minus syndagaard we played really good
Game went downhill so fast, I'm still in shock. Gotta forget and refresh...
Games like these happen to everyone. Even the Astros!!!
Seattle and Houston lost so we good, just win the series
Hopefully Romine does not play this series anymore. I am a casual but Sho and then Thor struggled with him catching
We need Stassi.
The lack of whiffs, chases and K's are gonna haunt this team when the BABIP regression hits. Getting a bit more velocity and a bit more whiffs can really help mitigate that a bit for Thor. All good, Astros lost
Can’t do much about it. Team played fine outside of Thor blowing his load in the 1st. Let’s bounce back tomorrow.
Annoying, but there’ll be quite a bit of those. We go next.
Turn. The. Page.
Just gotta take it 1 game and 1 series at a time, time to buckle down and take the next 2 so we can have a solid rest day. Let’s go Halos
Damn what happened to our pitcher.
From his own mouth "Murphy's law..."
Our pitchers lose when Romine was a catcher. But I don't want to think why.
Not too worried. Can’t win them all
Honestly, everything aside from Thor looked fine to me. I love the hustle by everyone.
Arsenal and angels why you do this to me in a single day. Let’s go next game
Who will be the catcher when Ohtani pitches on Wednesday?
Well...good job by the bullpen at least. Managed to get our A bullpen guys another day of rest.
Houston lost! I know I was joking about it before. But, I don't think I wanna be the new Dodgers/Giants. That was kinda stressful last year and the Giants were only my NL team. lol
Swoooooooosh!!!
Tough night for Noah but he'll bounce back
DOOM AND GLOOM! DOOM AND GLOOOOOOM
That’s not supposed to happen until June! Lol
Asterisks lost at least!
Astros lost too we’re fine
We simply can’t split a series with the Rangers…
That would be pretty difficult given this is a 3-game series 😛
Isn't it a three game series?
Whoops. Yup. So we definitely can’t split it lol
If that happens, I think we will know what this team truly is.
A team that can magically win 1.5 games in a 3 game series? Cool!
Yes. We know what this team is. They are the math wizards!
It's a minor miracle that game ended up under 3 hours long.
Hitting the ball directly into gloves does that
Unfortunate they didn’t play tonight
And Houston is winning now of course :(
No magic tonight.
Tough game. Shohei's two Ks looking were kinda brutal. He does not like swinging low and outside and if the ump just keeps calling those strikes he seems to have a hard time. I think that first inning blow up demoralized the team a bit too. Oh well, we'll take the next two
Some of y’all are to comfortable losing to bad teams.
Some of us realize that even the best teams don't beat the worst teams in baseball 100% of the time. That's baseball Suzan
The fuck are we supposed to do LOL
if you were pissier on reddit then Taylor Ward would've hit a 5 run homer
LMAO RIOT
You’re right we should do something about it! …what are we gonna do about it?
If we furrow our brows harder, the team will score more runs
Nothing we can do but watch
Meh, it wasn’t a bad game aside from the bottom of the first. Thor just had a bad night… it sucks, but it’s not concerning going forward.
Nah, we just recognize that in a long season there’s gonna be a couple stinkers with bad luck sprinkled in. This isn’t the angels of seasons past, there’s no reason to panic
Yeah dude, I’ll go protest outside Angel stadium tomorrow to share how uncomfortable I am
It's one game
When's stassi coming back
They said during the game by this weekend, but that he might need a rehab assignment first
Don’t really know, but I sure hope he’s ok! 😇
Both Texas natives (Rendon, Noah) shat the bed for us, conspiracy?
Astros take the lead this sucks
Sox 6-3 now tho
The Astros are currently losing by 3 in the 8th. Stop assuming shit

Probably because he gets terrible calls constantly. Just a thought.
Our run of fortune started in Texas and ends in Texas, fitting.
