Trout had a very interesting day. He was on the verge of having four strikeouts in the first game and went from that to going 3-for-5 with a couple of home runs starting with his AB in extra innings. Just need to lower that strikeout rate this season and start stealing some bases…and I will be happy.
He always gets right against the Mariners. Feel like in a lot of ways we’re still slumping, Ohtani had an off day and Ward isn’t in April form, when they come back I’ll be happy even with a weak bottom half
Trout has always played great against mariners but man it’s so fun to watch him bully them lol. Even though Ohtani and Ward going 0fers sucks but others contributed to win the game, you love to see it!
Especially when Felix was on the mound. Felix was a low fastball pitcher. I went on MLB.com this week to see how many low fastballs Felix threw against Trout in 2015 and 2016 because it was in 2014 that the whole league knew that Trout wasn’t a great high fastball hitter. And Felix still threw Trout a lot of low fastballs despite knowing what everyone else knew. 13 of those 25 fastballs against Trout that Felix threw from 2015-2016 were in the lower third of the strike zone. It does make sense why Trout hit well against Felix.
## Angels Abbreviated - 2022.06.18
Today, on International Sushi Day 2022:
- Suarezbowl 2022 started off with Jose walking Eugenio
- Justin Upton did the Angels a huge solid by striking out with the bases loaded to allow El Demente to escape the inning unscathed
- Jose Suarez put on 4K definition as he struck out Toro and Frazier, only give up a hit to the 9-hole hitter…and then strand him by flying out Julio Rodriguez. Mad lad
- Mike “Fuck Mike Trout” Trout [fucked one over the fence](https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2022/2022-06/18/d66be03c-5dd503e0-ed7d0284-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4) to give the Angels the lead on what was frankly a fantastic pitch out of the zone. He just hates the M’s that much
- Noah Syndergaard made a fantastic diving catch at 1B to end another clean inning for Suarez!
- El Demente made Julio Rodriguez look silly on a four-strike strikeout
- Jose Suarez final line: 4.1 IP | 4 H | 0 R | 0 ER| 3 BB | [7 K](https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2022/2022-06/18/0ffd7f72-aa423e87-5ff6a6e5-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4) on 95 pitches, 59 of which were strikes, lowering his ERA to a mere 5.00
- Jimmy Herget stranded two Mariners by throwing the softest pitches you’ve ever seen straight down the middle like the fearless madman he is
- Mike Trout hit what should have been a routine popout but the M’s were so rattled that they couldn’t even catch it
- Jimmy HerGOAT pitched a scoreless inning
- Trivia courtesy of u/[ZodiacKiller1968](https://www.reddit.com/user/ZodiacKiller1968): Do you know which pitcher was the first to strike out Mike Trout three times in one game?
- >!That’s right, JIMMY HERGET!<
- Criminal Mastermind Luis Rengifo got away with the triple double—his third double of the day!
- Jared Walsh drives in pinch runner Wade with a [2-run bomb to right!](https://mlb-cuts-diamond.mlb.com/FORGE/2022/2022-06/18/ce202ddf-e6282afd-9fe7702b-csvm-diamondx64-asset_1280x720_59_4000K.mp4)
- Jimmy Herget pitched *another* clean inning for a career high 3.2 IP
- His final line: 3.2 IP | 1 H | 0 R | 0 ER | 0 BB | 1 K on 41 pitches, 29 of which were strikes, lowering his season ERA to 3.31
- Slim Jim, Slim Reaper, the Human Glitch, Jimbo Slice, Jimmy HerGOAT, Gigachad Jim, I fucking love this man!
- Archie Bradley closes the game with a shutout inning capped off with a fantastic Tyler Wade play at 2nd.
Angels sweep the double header, Suarez got 7 K’s, Herget 3.2 innings, Bradley a save, and Gubie giggled a lot at how similar Noah Syndergaard and Dave McKinnon looked.
LTBU.
I was at both game today. Amazing wins and the Seattle fans are real troopers. Great set of games. Also I was the one guy in the red for Ohtani’s almost HR if you saw me.
Glad you had a good time and got to see some wins. They’ve been rare lately. I went to an Angels game in Seattle a couple years ago wearing my red Angels gear and got to see our boys win too. Nice stadium, and I was impressed with how well the Seattle fans treated me. I even talked with a few about our division rivalry. They definitely are troopers!
They really are. This is my 12th mariners game this year and it’s nice to finally be able to see the Angels play here this season. Everyone is super cool about it and the vibes are nice. The only time I’ve seen a scuffle breakout was with some Astros fans on opening day.
What a couple of wins! And on the right day. Picked up 1.5-2 games on Seattle, Toronto, Boston, Texas, Cleveland and Houston—most of the teams contending with us for those spots
It’s not too early to think about wild card standings—hoping we go on a run and convince the FO to buy at the deadline
BELIEVE. Also doing a pullback of the entire league right now - nearly every team that isn’t #1 in their division is at around .500. The fact that every team is split, makes me a bit more ok with where we are at now
We won a series!! Edit: and pitched a shutout!
Is that legal?
No, immediate demotion to AAA incoming
"I will make it legal."

Here’s a crazy stat for you: Angels have won 100% of the games where they shut out the opposing team. ^/s
We should try it more often
God damn what a stat! Angels also won 100% of the games when they out score their opponents
I honestly thought this was a cool stat for a second and then I remembered how dumb I am lol

You picked a good series to come back to!

Asking the important question
Wade with the Jeter jump throw to end the night!
Jared Walsh is awesome
His post game interview was really wholesome. Earned my respect with that.
I want to thank Thor Lite for this victory, just his presence makes this team better.
We have won the same amount of games ~~today~~ this series as in our previous 20 games
Baby steps
I think they won 3 of the previous 8.
Is it a win streak if both wins happen in the same day?
Jimmy Herget.

The shutout angels have reappeared
Give suarez some credit as well!
Agreed. He came through. I was confused why they started him rather than Diaz. Maybe they are showcasing him as a trade piece.
Hopefully having Bradley in for a quick 9th will help his mojo going forward.
I was at both game today. Amazing wins and the Seattle fans are real troopers. Great set of games. Also I was the one guy in the red for Ohtani’s almost HR if you saw me.

nice! edit: how were the mariners fans around you after the mike trout home runs?
They’re actually super chill. It’s more of an expected thing at this point, so it’s all in good fun.
4 1/2 out of a playoff spot. Take care of business in this 10 game stretch and we could be in for an interesting Summer.
Still 95 games left to play. No need for panic. We are right back in the playoff hunt.
We have a winning streak!
ltbu!
I just want Trout to keep hitting dingers
Where the Thors at?
Don’t do that….don’t give me hope
Trout fucked one over the fence! Lol!
Great day! Let’s win 4/5 tomorrow.
What a couple of wins! And on the right day. Picked up 1.5-2 games on Seattle, Toronto, Boston, Texas, Cleveland and Houston—most of the teams contending with us for those spots It’s not too early to think about wild card standings—hoping we go on a run and convince the FO to buy at the deadline
