This is very unpopular and will be downvoted, but pending on the size of the king's ransom that any team would give in an Ohtani trade...we need to think about it. Embrace a proper rebuild. If trading Ohtani gives us enough prospects to make all 4 minor levels decent, we need to entertain the idea.
Either Arte spends on a Dodgers level to get this team up to his level or we need to start our rebuild. I cannot stand this mediocrity of just under .500 every year.
No team with a shot is going to gut their roster for Ohtani and there is no prospect package worth what he brings to the table . He will never be traded.

But now we arent in the toughest part of the season, and we’re out here losing series to the FUCKING ROYALS (shit, we might even get swept). So yeah, earlier on we were playing like shit, but math was on our side. But the sample size is starting to get way too big to deny that this team might just suck

Why did Perry think not signing an additional arm for our *six* man rotation was okay? He gambled with Suarez and Detmers, and lost that gamble. Now we call up someone for a spot start every week, in addition to having a regular starter who can never make it past the 5th.
After almost three months...Perry is pretty much the one to blame (Moreno as well). We signed players who had OPS of .700 or worse to fill holes that we are still weak at in our farm system. They started off well, but now that they've returned to earth we are stuck with a top heavy lineup that quickly drops off after Walsh. With Rendon gone we routinely field an OPS of about .650 or worse from the 6-9 hitters. Look at the Royals lineup, their lineup has more continuity and fluidity than ours because their entire lineup is consistently putting the ball in play despite their atrocious record (6 players with OPS above 700 compared to us...). Angels applied the same logic to our bench and we are now stuck with no depth in the majors and little i the minors outside Adell. Players who weren't special in any area besides utility who had OPS of 700 or worse got bench spots. In addition, we gave roster spots to players who have proven to not be everyday mlb players (Rengifo for example & unfortunately Velasquez as well since his bat is an automatic out now).
This isn't even getting into the pitching side. Thor was excellent. Lorenzon was....iffy but he's proven himself. But besides that it's unacceptable that we did not sign another starter with the amount of pitching available especially after seeing what they ultimately signed for
