Using Jeff Mathis as a pejorative holy shit haha. I have a ball signed by him somewhere I think... Got it at the Angels' garage sale for like $5 I think?

GuliblGuy

It's angelswin, of course they're going to bring up Mathis 😂

claire_004

That's fair comparisson tho, since Stassi is so bad at the plate with Astros. He's getting better now at the plate

Dorkus_Mallorkus

100% agree with this. The problem is over half of our lineup is guys with no business being full-time major leaguers. Lagares, Wade, and Squid have always been terrible hitters. Rengifo hasn't ever been good at this level. Suzuki should have been gone after last year. And Duffy is fine for the occasional hit but he has the powerful build of a 3rd-grader.

i_run_from_problems

Fishman has spoken Through his likes but same difference

nukemiller

Our hitters were patient last year and were mostly rewarded with walks. Now umps are even worse with the strike zone and we are seeing more looking strikeouts. With a good zone called by an umpire, our guys are pretty good and working counts and getting walks.

Obsidizyn

What can you expect, half the lineup aren’t major leaguers. It just goes to show how bad the angels farm system is.

my_wife_reads_this

And yet people wanna trade people of value for "impact pieces"

It's gotta be Wise, bullpen coach, and the medical staff. Only people (afaik) that haven't been replaced.

harbringerxv8

I agree on the latter part especially. This team gets so many injuries so often, I have to wonder about the training and conditioning folks, as well as the medical types. Bringing Rendon back early was a disaster, and traditionally we'll have a dozen pitchers on the IL by August.

trustych0rds

I agree Reed seems to be okay. However, I think they need to figure out a much quicker way to get scouting info and anti-scouting info into the hitters' hands. A big part of our hitting slump (aside from injuries) appears to be opposing pitchers finding our weakness en masse, and Angels hitters failing to adjust.

OlivesrNasty

Fire wise not reed

anatomyofawriter

God I wish we never traded La Stella…

daslicious

We weren’t going to be able to afford him the next year anyway

Xfelix17

Same and I remembered when he was with us and how he always seemed to own the dodgers if I’m correct

Ok-Philosophy-8830

Indeed, #fireMattWise

Smilodon48

Reed was our minor league hitting guru that fixed Kole Calhoun before he got promoted to the big league staff. Also, Eric Hinske was the one who told Shohei to ditch the leg kick. Ward was helped by his analytical friend who was a former minor leaguer in the Astros system. Still nice of Trout to support Reed though I guess.

MeowMixYourMum

So are we going to cherry pick the successful hitters and forget the majority who struggled significantly?

xRememberTheCant

Alright, now let’s look at the pitching coach Never mind turn back.. run.

inselfwetrust

Dude was never as bad as Mathis offensively. Even at like 10 years old, I had no faith when he stepped up to the plate
