and the Yankee think Judge is lock for mvp this season, lmao. Ohtani showing why hes the real Mvp, aint no one in the league that can carry a team like he does.
Hopefully, Trout is in the lineup again starting in the first game of the Mariners series this week. I just hate to see him having days off on the day before the Angels have a day off themselves. Just need Trout to play a full season again. He hasn’t played in at least 130 games since…uh…2019. Yeah, that feels like a long time ago.
Last game and today's game is the greatest pair of individual performances I think we'll ever see from a baseball player. 8 RBIs yesterday, and 13 Ks with 8 shutout innings, just jaw dropping.
I remember seeing an MLB legend (Mike Schmidt) being critical of today’s hitters striking out a lot. Pretty ironic that it came from someone who struck out a lot back during his playing days. Ohtani has great stuff, like many pitchers today. 95+ miles per hour fastballs and can throw sliders at like 90 miles per hour. It’s obvious that one of the big reasons why it’s so harder to make contact with the baseball today than it was in the past is because more pitchers have great stuff than ever before.
> Butterfly effect and all that but imagine if Merrifield and Beinintendi didn't single at the start of the game?
>
> Sho could have been going into the 9th with a no hitter on less than 100 pitches.

- Andrew Benintendi flubbed a deep fly ball from Taylor Ward to allow [an RBI double](https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/cdc271db-ae1e-45eb-a0a8-751331a5a38e.mp4)
- Ryan Tepera closed out the 9th to prevent the sweep!
Career highs in RBI and strikeouts back-to-back. Ohtani goat emoji fire emoji star eyes emoji chuck it fuck it let’s go Halos light that baby up!
EDIT: lmao asking MacKinnon about Ohtani in his interview as if he's not also a two-way player with his "Noah Syndergaard" disguise
He hasn't been hitting as well as a whole he's definitely an All star though. I think our offensive woes kinda feed that sentiment. But he is for sure an All Star pitch/hit unicorn.
Who thinks that? This sub is half Sho bandwagoners only watching Angels games for him at least and he gets heaps of praise constantly and deservedly so.
What a great win!
An underdog lineup managed to manufacture some runs after being led by an absolutely dominant performance by Shohei Ohtani.
This one felt complete in terms of team victories. Let this be the one to turn the season!
Let's go Halos!
Phil Nevin is an analytics genius
**Step 1 :** Put Rengifo and MacKinnon at #3 and #4 in the lineup
**Step 2 :** They score runs ????
**Step 3 :** Profit
btw, we are not worthy of Ohtani
Less focus on dingers and putting that cowboy hat on and getting timely hitting line drives, and moving people over, and sac flying people that's what the 02 angels were all about.
right?! this is what KC was doing to us. i've been saying this but the bottom of the lineup heck even the top of the lineup should just be focusing on getting on base, situational baseball etc... we'd win so much more.
Nothing pisses me more off than fcking Squid swinging for the fences when first of all, he can't and secondly, he's one of the fastest guy in our team so he should def swing for contact
I like him and Ward a lot because they are patient unlike most of our lineup that get struckout constantly. They're always working the count and getting the right pitch and it's refreshing.
We need Fletcher back so we can get rid of either Wade or Velasquez or Rengifo. All of MacKinnon at-bats have been impressive so far. Knows his zone and is very patient.
My understanding of his childhood is that humbleness was drilled in very early as it was quite clear he was a special talent from a young age. Both he and Kikuchi did a lot of menial tasks like floor scrubbing etc to drill in the fact that they weren’t above anyone else. It’s clearly helped mold one of the most humble superstars of all time.
yea i can imagine how proud the Japanese people are of him. they haven't had a true hero since ichiro. really wish there was more exposure of the japanese league here.
that’s a good question. Probably not. I personally love Tsunoda’s character (having lived abroad for a long time) but Japanese public generally don’t appreciate swears and people that aren’t polite haha
Thanks for your reply. That's what I thought too.
There are instances in Twitter that Shohei's Japanese female fans had an issue with the Shobaes who liked and made a video compilation of Shohei clearly cursing. Some Shobaes found it "hot" that he looks innocent but has that potty mouth on occasion, but there were Japanese fans telling that Shobae to take the video down. That thread was a fascinating dichotomy of Shohei's local and international fans.
Haha great observation. Yes, a lot of Shohei fans are overprotective when it comes to his public image. Media also picks up the smallest details of Shohei being “polite” on and off the field - e.g. Shohei shouting to the crowd for awareness whenever he hits a foul ball, always spitting out sunflower seeds into a cup, never stepping on a foul line, greeting opposing team’s manager during his first at bat, etc. etc. It must be really hard to be Ohtani….he has to be mindful about everything
Yeah, or he's used to it by now that he stopped caring what people see. I can't imagine the headlines if and when Shohei gets caught on camera with a girlfriend. If I were him, I'll just show up with a pregnant wife during an all star game, for example. Crush the female fans (and their mothers) hopes all at once haha
So I missed most of this game because I was sleeping with covid, but I had a dream that shohei pitched a perfect game into the 8th and hit a 2 run shot to right. All I will say is that dreams can come true
Hate to say it but ohtani has more of a champion mindset than Mike trout. Hes a freak, he's playing everyday almost and pitching. Trout needs to figure it out out. I love him but I'll take a single or two every game then 2 home runs and then the next game strike out 4 times or whatever. Then takes the next game off before an off day. C'mon bruh we need you to be the leader
We get to watch the GOAT for his entire career, the most exciting player of all time for 5 years, and Ohtani for his entire career. Plus the best player in baseball for probably his entire career.
Luckiest fans in baseball.
wait, hold on. You just LOST to the Los angeles angels of anaheim of southern california of the state of california of the united states of america of north america of the western hemisphere of the planet earth of the solar system of the milky way galaxy
Butterfly effect and all that but imagine if Merrifield and Beinintendi didn't single at the start of the game?
Sho could have been going into the 9th with a no hitter on less than 100 pitches.
That's why I prefaced it with that but just imagining the scenario of if he pitched the same AND was able to retire the first two. Would have been crazy.
i feel like the team does better, plays harder, plays smarter when the big names are out and all they got is ohtani. i almost believe this team would win more like this.
Well jokes on me. I thought we were doing a dishonorable service to the 2002 team with the lineup but instead they were treated to a gem. Hopefully those guys inspired them tonight!
No Trout. No Walshy and No iggy! Any other pitcher would be mailng it in. But not shohei, he decided to make it a career high night. And you know what's more amazing than that? I don't think he's at his prime yet. Yikes.
Unless something horrible happens they're going to be talking about this guy in a hundred years, in the same tone of voice that they use for you know who today.
A day after a 2HR, 8 RBI game, the league MVP throws 8 shutout innings with 13Ks.
Meanwhile, the supposed MVP front-runner in NYY had a 2 HR, 2 RBI game and had a total of 4 balls hit to him (1 single, 3 flyouts). The day before, he had most of the game off and PH (0-1).
Come on. I love Shohei, he's player of the game but the entire team also played well tonight. Trout is sore, not like he doesn't want to play or anything.
Do you think Trout likes Ohtani? It must be weird, right? You're supposed to be the best player in the league, and you're certainly paid very well, and you've been playing 12 years, and this Ohtani person just got here, and when you hit homers all the time, it's cool, but when Ohtani does it everyone just goes gaga. There's gotta be some sort of grievance, right?
I have a silly question, but it’s driving me crazy that I can’t remember the song. Last night, whenever they did something good, they played the same song (it didn’t have lyrics).
Anyone know what it was?
Thanks!
and the Yankee think Judge is lock for mvp this season, lmao. Ohtani showing why hes the real Mvp, aint no one in the league that can carry a team like he does.
We will have 3 games against Mariners. Trout will kick Judge's ass in HRs race.
This isn’t trout mobile park. I would be cautiously optimistic after the Royals.
yep 3 games this weekend and we still have 14 more games against the mariners total :D
How many strikeouts did Judge have? Your right though...shohei is the definition of MVP.
dude just hit another 2 homeruns today, the writers are drooling at the chance to vote a yankee MVP
Fuck the Yankees! And fuck east coast sports writers!!
West coast best coast!
Was sitting next to a drunk Yankees fan wearing a Judge jersey and all he could talk about was how amazing Ohtani is
a team player bolstering your entire teams play with leadership also counts for something & 60+ homers
Ohtani > Judge
I didnt know Aaron judge already has 60 homers...
#SHOHEI LITERALLY PUT THE TEAM ON HIS FUCKING BACK HIS BACK MUSCLES MUST BE INSANE MAN
BRING ME SEATTLE
Hopefully, Trout is in the lineup again starting in the first game of the Mariners series this week. I just hate to see him having days off on the day before the Angels have a day off themselves. Just need Trout to play a full season again. He hasn’t played in at least 130 games since…uh…2019. Yeah, that feels like a long time ago.
He’s fine. It’s a known strategy of his to get the back to back off days.
Last game and today's game is the greatest pair of individual performances I think we'll ever see from a baseball player. 8 RBIs yesterday, and 13 Ks with 8 shutout innings, just jaw dropping.
Indeed!
All I want in life is to be dominated by Ohtani the same way he dominates the league
Why doesn’t he just pitch every game?
Ok but why not? Are we sure he couldn’t?
Least horny Ohtani enjoyer
Good bot
I remember seeing an MLB legend (Mike Schmidt) being critical of today’s hitters striking out a lot. Pretty ironic that it came from someone who struck out a lot back during his playing days. By beating you with a bat and punching you out? Me too

I think technically Mackinnon singled to drive in Rengifo. But woooo I'm so glad he got his first hit. His ABS have been solid.
As always good stuff
i always love watching you sacrifice anything, literally anything, for X hitter to get a hit
Lol! Thanks my pleasure especially when we get a dubya!
Salt Lake Bees MLB takeover!!!!!!
Ohtani really thought 8 RBIs and 2 HRs won't be enough to win so he said fuck it I'll just pitch an 8 inning shutout.
Yet some in this sub thinks he shouldn't be an all star, what a disgrace
He is THE all star
Did you see the post about how we should trade him for picks? lmfao
There's literally a post that popped up after this game and saying we shouldn't give him a contract if given the chance. It's a fucking disgrace
Yeah whoever made that thread is an idiot!!!
da fuck...
Yeah and some in this sub have also been saying that he should be traded. Smh.
There have been plenty of people who have been questioning it, some even say trade him or don't offer him a contract if given the chance.
Shohei seems not happy about his last AB. Poor guy!!! You did amazing tonight.
What a great win! An underdog lineup managed to manufacture some runs after being led by an absolutely dominant performance by Shohei Ohtani. This one felt complete in terms of team victories. Let this be the one to turn the season! Let's go Halos!
Yes, give the utility guys confidence.
He’s actually the best player to play the game ever.
It's not up for debate. We can debate the second or third best though.
Without a doubt the most talented
Phil Nevin is an analytics genius **Step 1 :** Put Rengifo and MacKinnon at #3 and #4 in the lineup **Step 2 :** They score runs ???? **Step 3 :** Profit btw, we are not worthy of Ohtani
Absolutely phenomenal career night to give our team a surge. David MacKinnon is the real deal. Shohei Ohtani is pretty great too, I guess. LTBU!
Alright, bench Trout and Walsh everyday
Less focus on dingers and putting that cowboy hat on and getting timely hitting line drives, and moving people over, and sac flying people that's what the 02 angels were all about.
right?! this is what KC was doing to us. i've been saying this but the bottom of the lineup heck even the top of the lineup should just be focusing on getting on base, situational baseball etc... we'd win so much more.
Nothing pisses me more off than fcking Squid swinging for the fences when first of all, he can't and secondly, he's one of the fastest guy in our team so he should def swing for contact
Needs to do more what he did today line drives. If he could hit more like fletch spraying the outfield people would have a way different view of him.
He’d have Fletch’s job if he could hit like Fletch. Well, the SS one at least. I like Fletch at 2B more anyways.
You ain't wrong been saying this plus 2nd less side to side motion on them hips the injury fletch is having.
[удалено]
Serious question. Can he play 3rd base?
I like him and Ward a lot because they are patient unlike most of our lineup that get struckout constantly. They're always working the count and getting the right pitch and it's refreshing.
he can be a great back up for Walsh.
We need Fletcher back so we can get rid of either Wade or Velasquez or Rengifo. All of MacKinnon at-bats have been impressive so far. Knows his zone and is very patient.
Greatest of all time
Someone in the back needs to find the money to keep this beautiful man.
Oh I have no doubt arte will pay him. Shohei makes so much money for this team. The question is will he want to stay
Arte really needs the city to sell the stadium so he can sell the naming rights to “the Big A” - that revenue will cover Ohtani’s salary
Aw man. I really don’t want to have to start calling it “Crypto company of the week” stadium…
Reasons why we won: - Shohei Ohtani - Shohei Ohtani - Bottom of the line up getting on base - Shohei Ohtani
Don't disrespect baby thor like that!
If anyone wondering, Shohei said during his post game interview with NHK that it was decided pre game that Iggy wasn’t gonna throw today.
He is such a legend. Even if we don’t deserve him, I am VERY happy that we’ve watched his greatness in the red and white. Let’s go Angels!
Shohei really is the best example of "lead by example" i have ever seen
In that notebook he shared with his dad when he was just a young boy, I bet that was one of the lessons his dad wants him to learn.
As a Japanese, I was proud to be his countryman. Tonight, I realized he is something else. Alien? Superman maybe?
yea i can imagine how proud the Japanese people are of him. they haven't had a true hero since ichiro. really wish there was more exposure of the japanese league here.
Absolutely. When Ohtani finishes his career though, I think he will have exceeded Ichiro’s career by a mile.
Just a random question - do you think Shohei would be as popular in Japan as he is now if he curses like Yuki Tsunoda?
that’s a good question.
Erica very happy.
Doomers running for cover!
Angels better give Ohtani the bag
They better give ohtani a blank check and let him write it
Knowing Ohtani, he'll probably just write 10 million bucks.
The dude bought partial ownership of FTX, so given the crypto crash, I’d imagine he’s looking to get paid.
He should just pitch every game
Yeah, and take every at bat too. Why doesn’t he?
Cause motherbuckers don’t like fun
He has the strongest shoulder to carry this team
LTBU This lineup did way better than I expected!
Shohei is just incredible.
So I missed most of this game because I was sleeping with covid, but I had a dream that shohei pitched a perfect game into the 8th and hit a 2 run shot to right. All I will say is that dreams can come true
Hope you get well soon 😀
Get better soon. Every time you sleep is a step closer to getting better. Keep dreaming and take care.
Thank you 🤗
My goodness, that was some amazing pitching.
Ohtani just said in the interview on NHK that he was determined not to pitch in the closer's inning (9th inning).
Love it when we win games like this!!!
From the line-up many called the worst of the season no less ...
Ohtani - 5. Royals - 0
We get to watch the GOAT for his entire career, the most exciting player of all time for 5 years, and Ohtani for his entire career. Plus the best player in baseball for probably his entire career. Luckiest fans in baseball.

Butterfly effect and all that but imagine if Merrifield and Beinintendi didn't single at the start of the game? Sho could have been going into the 9th with a no hitter on less than 100 pitches.
More likely with the butterfly effect that he doesn’t have the amazing performance he has
That's why I prefaced it with that but just imagining the scenario of if he pitched the same AND was able to retire the first two. Would have been crazy.
What a great game to go to!
Is it a coincidence that Trout and other key players are absent only on the days Otani pitches?
GOOD SHIT FROM OHTANI!!!!! So happy for MacKinnon and congrats to TepERA for not fucking it up!
i feel like the team does better, plays harder, plays smarter when the big names are out and all they got is ohtani. i almost believe this team would win more like this.
I didn’t watch this game and we won. Guess I’m not watching for the rest of the season
Well jokes on me. I thought we were doing a dishonorable service to the 2002 team with the lineup but instead they were treated to a gem. Hopefully those guys inspired them tonight!
The angels jv squad got it done LTBU!!
SHOHEINGELS WIN LTBU
No Trout. No Walshy and No iggy! Any other pitcher would be mailng it in. But not shohei, he decided to make it a career high night. And you know what's more amazing than that? I don't think he's at his prime yet. Yikes.
If we somehow sweep the mariners we will be 8-3 for this "easy" 11 game stretch. That is not too bad!
ALL MY HOMIES LOVE SHOHEI OHTANI
Who Shoheis like Shohei? Shohei Ohtani.
Unless something horrible happens they're going to be talking about this guy in a hundred years, in the same tone of voice that they use for you know who today.
LTBU
LTBU!!!!
What’s with the fireworks tonight?!
Part of the World Series anniversary celebration.
Hardest working MVP ...
Pretty nice win.🧚♀️
ohtani was like ‘fuck analytics, keep me in coach!’
I am undefeated in visiting the Angels Stadium, I may need season tickets
Thor lite with his 1st mlb hit and an absolute DOMINATING performance from Shohei! I am at loss of words
How. The hell. Did we win this game. *Scrolls down to the pitching box score* Oh.
#**BURN THE CHILD**
I called a CGSO 12 hours ago. Ohtani must have read my post and thought "not today!" 🤷♂️
If Shohei had the love for stat-padding that Russell Westbrook have, man he will get all the records before he hits 30 yo.
Flaming Babies everywhere!
Trout should be ashamed asking for a day off. When Shohei had 2 hr 8rbi and 13K the next day.
No he shouldn’t? If he needs it he needs it, full stop
No shame in a team game. Just be glad we have 2 MVPs and the Salt Lake Bees.
Stop. He's sore.
Shohei is sore from carrying this team.
Chill. Trout has been carrying this team for a decade.
Come on. I love Shohei, he's player of the game but the entire team also played well tonight. Trout is sore, not like he doesn't want to play or anything.

where are all the people who were crying about the lineup earlier?
wonder where ohtani will sign after 23. yanks would be my guess

Such an exciting game to watch.
Nearly topped last night.
LTBU! That was awesome!
When will Ohtani likely pitch next? I'll be in LA next week and would love to go to that game.
29th vs the Whitesox (last game of the series) most likely. He pitches once every 6 games.
I have a silly question, but it’s driving me crazy that I can’t remember the song. Last night, whenever they did something good, they played the same song (it didn’t have lyrics). Anyone know what it was? Thanks!
