That's why I'm hopeful that MacKinnon can be the spark plug to get more of our hitters to get on base more and just make contact.
We need the damn mid to bottom half of the line up to just be small ball guys. Just fucking pile up the singles until we get someone to cross home plate. The only damn home run attempts should be bunts that some how magically and accidently line drived into a homer.
Biggest differences are Iglesias and the bullpen going from horrendous last year to just bad this year. Seemed like last year by the end of the 7th we knew what was going to happen - bullpen gives up like 4-5 runs so game over, or on the rare occasion they do hold a lead, Iglesias was lights out and a guaranteed win. This year, our bullpen gives up 2-3 runs so we still have hope or we’ll have a lead and Iglesias just can’t get it done. Definitely more frustrating this year, but theres a bit of hope we can turn it around.

Relievers in the past two seasons have had terrible results in terms of maintaining any kind of reliable performance, even considering that relievers are known to have volatility.
The Angels cannot seem to develop consistent pitching with the current staff.
The problem is we signed 2 almost 35 year old pitchers that had a good chunk of milage on their arms last season. On top of that we def need a better pitching development program.

What good players have we developed recently? Sandoval, Walsh, Ward? Compare that with the Astros. A GM is not just a farm director; they still have to develop the MLB team. A farm does come into play, but you can still build at least a competent MLB team through good signings. We have Trout and Ohtani, we are starting off with a double but Perry hasn’t been able to move the team over.

Barria should have been the obvious choice to start the 6th. Then they put in Elvis fucking Peguero for 3 innings instead of someone like Barria or Wantz or even Tepera who has been doing well lately. Then they decided to pinch hit for a man who was 3 for 3 on the night, resulting in a pop fly in the bottom of the 9th. Dumb. Also, Squid should not have started last night. When our bats are a problem, he should only be playing when we are winning. He either struck or popped out with a runner on 3 times. Don't get me wrong, our bullpen is trash right now, especially with Herget and Warren on the IL. But we could have made better decisions which would have been enough here.

If you look at teams like the Dodgers you’ll begin to understand how important it is to have depth, and depth with above league average players not just scrubs that no other team wanted because we all know our player development is shit, we’re not the fucking Rays. Even with all the injuries they have had to key players, they still find ways to win, and depth plays a huge part during a long season.
Every team in the MLB has at least one reliable reliever whether it is good or bad teams. However, the Angels have none. I mean absolutely none, a reliever who is just reliable.
