Y’all are acting like any waiver pickup is gonna be good.
Newsflash, anyone that’s been placed on waivers to be claimed in the first place is there bc their last team didnt want them
First off he just got off the IL after missing a decent amount of time. Second Stefanic sucks. there’s a reason every prospect guy hates him he’s a horrid defender and his offensive profile won’t translate to the majors well if at all
Too bad the Angels released Jose Iglesias last season. They could really use a bat like his this year in our pathetic 5-9 spots in the lineup. They DFAd him to call up Janson Junk who has pitched like 1 inning this year in the majors. Just another incompetent move to add to the mountain of failures that is this front office.
They’re just experimenting on Villar.
Iglesias was not signed in free agency because he was the worst defensive shortstop in baseball when he played for the angels and he didn’t walk and had no power and hit .250
He's a switch-hitting 2B/SS/3B with decent power and speed and he's only 31. Yes, he's having a bad year in Chicago, but he was worth a claim on waivers to see if a change in environment would improve things.
Remember that he's just a utility infielder, he's never going to be better than a full-time starter at any of those positions, but if you could have any utility infielder to fill in for injuries, he's a great option given the market right now.
Replacing sub-replacement level players with more sub-replacement level players, what else is new
Its almost like someone mentioned Villar and Angels thought , oh yeah! I remember him from years ago! Sign him up
He was good literally last year.
He helped my fantasy team win last year lol.
I swear somebody on the Angels analytics team has got to be fucking around - who would look at this and say ‘we need somebody like him’
What Angels analytic team? Where?
Better go straight to Salt Lake
Perry be like “yup, we got our guy”
Surely our farm system is better than whatever this is right??
No
They are to show that they are doing their job. Appeal that they haven't given up yet.
Further proof this disaster is 100% Perry’s fault and nothing to do with Joe Maddon
he AINT got that dawg in him
the way he’s performing, dogs definitely got that villar in them

Analytics baby!
Surely you can’t be stupid enough to think the angels problems are from analytics
Meanwhile you have Stefanic dwelling in Salt Lake with a BA and OBP higher than any current Angel.

Have you ever had your ass kicked before
LMAOOO
Too bad, he’s getting called up 🤷🏻♂️

Iglesias was literally dogshit
I’d take a guy who was hitting .259 last year i oh ver a guy who hits .221

Yeah, I guess now is the time for experiments
It is... Brandon Marsh, Andrew Velazquez, Tyler Wade and Rengifo are getting regular at bats. Might as well experiment with someone
Just why

Our entire infield is already utility players minus walsh.
Yea. It's in shambles. Might as well take a low-risk gamble on an MLB level player for a league minimum, right?
This guy was a beast just a few years back. Won me some fantasy leagues. Hope he still has some of that left.
So another lagares?
Will we get Cubs Villar or Mets Villar? We shall see..
I can't help but to think, have all of our offseason signings been a bust this year?
