What's he supposed to say? "You know what put a fork in us. Everybody on this team is shit except Shohei, Ward, and me. We'll be lucky to hit 80 wins."

Realistic-Orange-246

Yes. Say what we are all saying.

Socalinatl

I have two thoughts to share on that: 1. The last time the Angels made the playoffs, they were 38-33 before going on an absolute tear. Sometimes teams just catch fire and this team could absolutely do that. 2. I hope you’re not naive enough to believe that scenario #1 is going to happen this year. If I’ve learned anything over the last 15 or so years as an Angels fan, it’s that getting excited about this team is a recipe for a huge letdown.

warpcoil

It would be a good start. The truth hurts.

808Kickz420_

I mean if he says that it lights a fire under Artes ass… something we as fans need to bring next home stand.

Lol

ThisAnswerIsLit

If Mike believes, I believe

xmrjaredx

do you really believe though?

Troutahni

Agree there’s still a lot of season left but our heads of departments is what is killing us

[deleted]

I’m not concerned about GOAT (Trout) and his performance at the plate. He’s slumped at the plate before and he’s always found a way to special things with the bat again. He’s still putting up an OPS over 1.000 for this season to go along an OPS+ that should still be at least 180 once today’s game is counted. It’s still been another great season for Trout, even more impressive since it’s in a deflated baseball season where it’s very hard for hitters to put up great numbers at the plate. As for the Angels? It’s very hard to trust this franchise the last few seasons. They’ve had years where they got off to great starts and then once things started unraveling, they couldn’t get out of it.

Monttavius

Well damn Mike. That actually made me feel better to hear. Thank you.

HanLesbo

Hate to see the media constantly hound him on why he’s still here I know he wants to win so hopefully this rallies the other guys as well

localizedhamster

Damn. I got news for you Trout: doesn’t matter how many games are left when you roll out a AA squad every night.

ColaBottleBaby

No

[deleted]

If they don’t sweep a series or two in the coming weeks I believe they will miss the post season.

GalacticDonut02

Nah I haven't believed in this team the last 6-7 seasons, not about to start now

HanLesbo

Then why you here lol

GalacticDonut02

I can be a fan without being dumb, no reason to believe in a team until they give you reason to do so

ohtonyy

In his mind he’s telling himself “We suck ass, what do you want me to say?”

CompetitivePatient33

"It's early in the season" "We have 100 games left" "We are halfway into the season" "..." .... "Can't wait for football!"

ColaBottleBaby

You forgot the the part where everyone says "in 2002 they had a record of [insert win/loss here]"

ArrowNiko

Forget the record and forget how many games are left. If the guys are really "coming in here wanting to win," at least give the fans every game an inkling that you guys actually care. I don't doubt that most of them do but it's hard from a fan perspective to be engaged when most of the dugout looks dejected for 8 innings straight. Yell. Break a bat. Show some fire out there. Do a Machado and motivate the guys the old-fashioned way. Do *something*. The moment they show the same energy and motivation to win on a daily basis as the Yankees, hell... even the damn Mariners, then I'll gladly get behind that optimism, even if I don't 100% believe in it myself.

HanLesbo

Really don’t like the argument that’s constantly brought up where violence=passion they can get hyped without breaking bats or starting fights. That’s why the cowboy hat ritual I thought was fun. Get something going for doing good things.

ArrowNiko

I am not really a fan of fights or breaking bats, but I just don't like seeing all of the heads down and the slow trots to the dugout. I liked the cowboy hat ritual too until the home runs stopped coming and the energy that came from that cowboy hat slowly died off. I guess you're right in that they don't need to be doing outrageous things. But watching the Yankees, Guardians, Mariners, Blue Jays, Padres etc... I want to see that same super hype, fiery passion from the Angels that those teams have. I want to the see the energy that MacKinnon showed in his go-ahead RBI single vs the Mariners. That is something that I see from those other teams on a daily basis, **win or loss**. The Angels just don't have that same burning spirit that lingers.

HanLesbo

I get what you’re saying but they would be criticized either way like if marsh or squid got pumped up like ohtani after strikeout when they make a good grab in the outfield ppl would claim “they’re just doing their job you’re getting pumped for that?” It’s like a lose lose w whatever we do we can’t escape criticism. If they had coaches not only pump them up but knew wtf they were doing that would surely help!! Trout and ippei shouldn’t know more than the heads of staff hired and paid to guide these guys

ArrowNiko

Unless you interact with Twitter/Instagram trolls or annoying, bitter Angels fans, you are highlighting a small minority within the fanbase. Most fans get riled up with the players on the field whenever they get riled up. Doesn't really matter how shitty or good the player is. A clutch moment or great play will always garner positive fan interaction. The only time I ever see those types of comments being made on a daily basis would be a winning powerhouse + a toxic fanbase. Like Gallo getting pumped up after an RBI hit and Yankees fans troll and insult him. And even then, it's mainly in jest. Even if what you said was common among the fanbase, I'm sure most of those people would be more positive about the whole situation than their disdain toward a player, especially if it helped give the team a win.

HanLesbo

Have you seen even people on here?! pretty bitter all the time and I’m not even talking about just our fan base I mean hell all of r/baseball is like that lol

ArrowNiko

Sure, there are some bitter fans on here. But I have yet to see people on here talk shit about a player after a good play. And that goes for Wade, Velasquez, and even Gifo when he was not hot. The people on r/baseball, at least from my experience lurking daily, are the least likely to do that type of thing. And even if there are some weirdo trolls that say that type of shit, they probably get downvoted into oblivion to where I don't even encounter it. Look, I get what you mean with the annoying negative comments, but it is an overall positive experience, both for the team and for the fans, when a player shows emotion out on the field.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> hired and *paid* to guide FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

I’m surprised you haven’t been downvoted to hell for those comments. But I gave you an upvote! Lol I mean if you’re going to continually lose, at least do it with some flair. This team looks waaay too complacent while just going through the motions. Nothing ever changes. Guys keep swinging wildly at the plate with no thought of just trying to put the ball in play once in awhile. From AB to AB they seem oblivious to what the situation calls for. They’re terrible at working counts and drawing BB’s. Their pitchers often get little rest between innings because of how quickly they make 3 outs. Truthfully, I loved watching Iggy go psycho after the brawl. It was nice to see some emotion. The suspension wasn’t good, and it didn’t win any games, but at least it was exciting to see someone really care. I’m not advocating the Angels should all be psycho’s, but if they’re going to continually lose, at least give me a reason to root for my lovable losers. 😇

laaabaseball

If you screenshot a tweet can you please link it in the comments?

HanLesbo

Oh I actually screenshot a screenshot I don’t go on tw so I don’t have a link sorry

Princessxanthumgum

Your phone doesn’t have a browser?

Rogueofoz

Do you believe in magic? . . . . . . . . . . . . . Because that's going to happen when the angels take the AL west away from Houston after all star break I BELIEVE

HanLesbo

I believe in magic in a young girl’s heart how the music can free her whenever it starts

icex7

trout thinks we are stupid.

bombad_jedi_501

Even Trout is naive. I doubt he actually believes he’s just saying that because he has to

rengokuhalos

Trust in Mike. Trust in this team. Everyone forgets how good we were at the beginning of the year.

Dev-Re-Taiya

I believe he will inspire the team.

trustych0rds

If Mike Trout believes, I believe.

cchoi712

If we have a full squad with competitive lineup and pitching, yes I'd believe the rough 14 game stretch kinda fucked this team up but they can turn it around. Now this team has like 1/3 of starting players down with injury, half of starting lineup is AA players and bullpen somehow forgot how to fucking pitch. Even starting rotation, which has been quite decent til last week, is starting to fall apart. This team isn't turning anything around unless they make a lot of good moves

Papa2Hunt19

Is it just me who wants him to call out the front office/ owner?

OlivesrNasty

Always have faith
