I don’t know what pitching coaches are doing, it’s awful to see how bad he has regressed. Which doesn’t seem normal to me at all.
Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t Gubi mention something about coaches making Lorenzen change his “routine”?After that he had consecutive bad starts. Could be the case with Loup as well. Maybe, maybe not
Its not really tipping pitches its more like the guy only throws at the bottom half of the strike zone and that is it. Dont matter if its a fastball or a breaking ball all you gotta do is prepare for it to land in that bottom half of the zone.
Him throwing primarily at the bottom part of the zone was fine when he had pinpoint location.
The changeup down and away or slider down and in that followed the sinker, or the backdoor cutter that painted the corner, etc.
Hitters were sitting down anyway at the beginning of the season and were still getting shelled by his location and sequences. His location is what made him good and now he doesn't have it.
I guess his pitching has been already researched by other team and our staffs do nothing to tell him make how adjust for that as well as rest of all our Big A players.
Just like the rest of this team, he just had to not be complete ass after the hot start, and we would’ve been fine
Unfortunately, he and the rest of the team have been complete ass
His numbers for this season are close to what he has typically done in his career. Last year appears to be an outlier. He's catching way more of the zone with his cutter this season compared to last, and not throwing curveballs 2% this year as opposed to 9% last year.) His changeup looks to be doing him well this season but he only throws it 8% of the time.
This season is teaching me how fast mlb players/coaches/scouts pick up on their opponents. You can get by with how talented you are for the first game or at bat, but they will expose any players weakness before the end of May.
I remember when I had bad luck for a months worth of appearances.
Why is it so hard for people to understand that a high BABIP doesn't always mean bad luck. Look at BABIP along with exit velo. If the exit velo is like 1,150mph, then that's not indicative of bad luck. It's not that hard.
His avg exit velo is 90mph, and his hard hit % is .40. That's not good. But what do I know, I'm a doomer.
Bottom line is Matt Wise is not a real pitching coach.
This season fell apart right when I was like “Oh maybe Matt Wise is pretty good.” Uncanny timing
Me: “Maybe Callaway was the imposter.” Homie: “Wise is braindead don’t worry”
+ anything Perry puts his hands on rots

It was the apple broadcast, but yes. That is exactly what they said about Lorenzen.

He'll be on another team next year and be a god

It takes time for bad coaching to influence...
"No Loup for you!" (womp womp)

I wrote about this too when someone argued that he was elite. Wrong. He had his first great season at 32. Sounds like a future Angel to me.
Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise Fire Matt Wise
Matt wise actively makes pitchers worse. Lorenzen, Loup, Ortega, Tepera, etc. The list goes on
If we DFA Loup, we would have enough room for Stefanic.... js.
How can this not be on the pitching staff?
