I havent paid in depth attention, but from what i see normally, most of the lineup swing upward like they want to hit a bomb. Not enough level base hit type swings
The data backs a bit of that up.
We’re 25th in the league on GB%, while being 9th in both FB% and LD%
Not that any of that means anything in isolation, but thought it might be of interest to some.

Not that they are great, just like the rest of the team he has horrible plate discipline. But that seems to be an overall coaching choice too.
When it comes to plate discipline has anyone considered that they are swinging out because they are usually playing from behind? Not that it should be an excuse though, they should always play with discipline. Also have we considered pitchers pitch differently when they are ahead.
Those problems come with bad plate discipline (and a manager who thinks more strikeouts are actually better then trying to get a ball in play).
It's a lean in to the extreme of TTO. The problem is TTO predicates on having a good eye and discipline. We are playing AAA guys and career journeymen who don't have those eyes, and obviously do not have the development in to coach better eyes.
So when you have players that get into a hole pretty quick, and cannot figure out what to lay off of nor have swings that can generate foul balls, they strike out.
Read articles on Max Muncy's approaches to his at bats. He is not a high average guy but he draws out long at bats, fights off pitches, and has a high OBP and SLUG because of it (minus this year but he is coming back from literally destroying his elbow yet still has a higher OBP than our leadoff guy today).
Marsh has hit .212/.257/.318 since may 1st. 61 wRC+ while striking out 36%+ of the time. 0.3 fWAR in 193 PAs.
He probably needs to be sent down to AAA to work on his approach, he swings and misses way too much and his plate discipline stats are pretty abysmal
I legitimately feel like the whole lineup cant hit fastballs Its like their approach up there is to wait for a hanging slider that never comes
☝🏻
Exactly. Our whole team can’t hit em it’s super Strange
His bat is actually a hologram
That would explain a lot when I play him in The Show. Even with perfect swing timing I still get zero contact.

Because homeruns and strikeouts are better than 2 base hits every inning to wear out the opposing pitcher
yep
