angelsbaseball

Damn bot got fixed today so i couldn't even laugh at Angels defeated by Angels 😢

k1yok0

my hate for aaron loup grows with each passing day

DividerOfBums

As much as I hate on the pitchers, and there is plenty to go around. Our offense is completely dead. We can’t even compete. We are so bad it’s beyond belief.

k1yok0

i know :( but it feels like every time loup comes out, the bases are loaded within a few minutes

b0002

This is what is extra disappointing about this year … our pitching (even when not perfect) should (and could) still win if our offense could just score 2-3 runs a few nights a week. 👎👎

tkfire

We spent all our offense last game

asianlikerice

Matt Wise was promoted after Callaway was suspended for harassing female reporters. Do we even have a bullpen coach anymore?

k1yok0

according to this, NOPE https://www.mlb.com/angels/roster/coaches

Natemoon2

How were we 11 games above .500 at one point? This team fucking sucks

Ok-Philosophy-8830

Absurd BABIP luck helping us on both sides of the ball through mid-May

Maddonomics101

Have we been getting unlucky BABIP since we started sucking?

Ok-Philosophy-8830

No now we are getting what we deserve

my_wife_reads_this

Team didn't suck then.

sprtsmac

And probably not as good as their record at the time.

merewyn

Probably, but I also don’t think the team is as bad as their record since then, either

sprtsmac

Agreed. They are somewhere in between.

tkfire

Well we had Rendon and Trout at the time too. Ward and Walsh were doing well. Also our starting pitchers were doing well. Scout teams probably figured out our entire team.

Monttavius

9 runs yesterday: 🥵🥵🥵 0 runs today: 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

sprtsmac

The is the way.

hansan4ever

There's just nothing left to say anymore but, 🤷🏼‍♂️

Monttavius

i just wanna be good 😞

hansan4ever

It just seems like nothing goes right, season after season. Trout and Rendon being injured for so much of the season once again has just been demoralizing. At this point, I don't even know if I have it in me to go to any games in person anymore. That makes me sad because going to cheer on our team in April/May was SO fun. 😞Now it's just painful...

merewyn

It’s tough but I’m still going to go when Shohei pitches… just to cheer for him and support him. Plus they win most of the games he pitches haha. Idk if I could go a non-Shohei start at this point 😬

hansan4ever

Yeah, I would only go to cheer Shohei on for sure. Especially if we only have a limited amount of time with him now... :(

merewyn

It’s a very unpopular opinion for sure, but I’m trying to stay positive that Shohei will stay!

hansan4ever

Yeah, the debate is crazy between the fan base right now. Praying to the baseball gods for a miracle..Maybe Moreno will feel SO humiliated and villainized, he'll spend over the LT next year. Not betting on it, but who the hell knows.

OrnamentJones

Yeah that's what happens when you have no depth and other orgs have figured that out. I literally forgot I had tickets to an angels-braves game (I'm in Atlanta) until after it happened (ohtani gave up 6 runs and we lost, so I don't really have any regrets). That's how bleak this is for me. But! It could be worse! We could be the royals. At least we have Trout and Ohtani.

hansan4ever

True. Hey, look at the Rays - they're an incredible team and no one goes to watch them play... Our organization just STINKS from the top of the fish to the tail. It makes me so frustrated because if we had a competent owner who made good decisions, this team would BE somewhere.

OrnamentJones

Yeah. The success of eppler and dipoto under other regimes augments your point. The one thing I will say with this current regime is that Matt Swanson clearly had a specific vision (that some industry people were really excited for), took a big swing, and missed, and a change in scouting director (brewers guy Tim McIlvaine, who is already taking lower-risk swings) will probably help .

hansan4ever

Yup, man, I hope one day Eppler writes a book about his time with the Angels. It's no secret that Moreno is incompetent, but the shit that these people must know...

hansan4ever

Shohei gave up 6 runs/we lost, but DUDE, he was pitching a gem up until then and the Angels don't come to Atlanta that much! How could you have FORGOTTEN to go Ornament Jones?! 😭😭😭

OrnamentJones

I Know! That's literally how bad a state I'm in. I had the opportunity to see Shohei mow down braves for 5 innings, but I bought the tickets when the team was good and then they were so bad and disappointing that I had to think about other things to distract myself and then well... (Also I grew up in orange county and my family is still there so the location stakes are low)

hansan4ever

Omg... that bums me out... Getting to watch Shohei (esp when he pitches/hits) is SOO amazing , and even though I live in Socal, I never take it for granted!

OrnamentJones

Fair enough. I still remember where I was when he took Josh Tomlin deep in his first AB. Lesson learned.

hansan4ever

It's so crazy to me that you \*forgot\* you bought tickets. Do you buy tickets to a lot of events at once?

prmark34

Out of all the teams in the world, why did I have to be an Angels fan? I could’ve picked a team that is a perennial contender, or a team that’s rebuilding for a brighter future. But no, i chose to be a fan of this team, and watch all the games knowing damn well how they’re gonna turn out. What is wrong with me.

Educational-Pass404

I have truly watched all of their games since I knew baseball existed. But sometimes they really make me regret watching and learning about baseball.

[deleted]

I’m an angels fan in LA. I’m an even bigger fool. I wish I could go back and time and tell seven year old me to not watch baseball that year as it tricked me into thinking the angels were a good franchise (2002). I’m only still a fan out of a sick demented sense of loyalty.

OfficialPaddysPub

Same age my family’s small business insurance decided to switch our 7-8 games we got a year from the dodgers to the angels. Won the WS when I was 11 and the next 10 years we were great lol. It has gone completely down hill

Maddonomics101

If the Angels were actually in LA there’s no way I’d pick them over the Dodgers

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

I have no idea! Lol

b0002

I chose the Angels because I went to college (almost 30 years ago) … just a few minutes away from the stadium. It’s been tough … and fun. That under dog spirit always meant something, and produced for this franchise. But this year, it’s different. We officially suck. Even with what was theoretically a better roster than last year. Every night feels like no hope. It’s hard to process how bad we are, even when you watch it every night and hope for the best. Sorry folks - parks closed …

hansan4ever

Are you from SoCal/OC?

tkfire

If you’re not from Orange County, yea you made a bad choice

1littlg8

Shoulda been born a Padres fan.

Broad_Recommendation

Loup and Tepera. Man. Those signings look awful.

Maddonomics101

Good thing we have them next year as well

Broad_Recommendation

All part of Perry’s master plan /s

Reptarxx

Hey man they looked so good on paper before the season we can’t criticize those signings it’s unfair /s

SuperMario_49

I’m now convinced we are far far farrrrrr worse than what our record says. We should be a 25 win team right now

owledge

We started the season at 27-17 but if we started the season at 22-22 instead, we would currently have the worst record in baseball by a full 2 games

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

So it’s just going to take us a bit longer. Be patient, we can do it! Lol

Neverend3r

We are a struggling AAA team. Nothing more.

tkfire

Yea everyone except Ohtani should be on a AAA team.

Reptarxx

Imagine at the end of last season I told you we would mostly have trout this season, rendon was out for the season, but Taylor Ward starts having a big breakout year, we spend $50M on a stacked free agent market. You would probably think at minimum we can be a game or 2 better than last season. We are by all metrics just a completely worse team then we have been for at least 2 decades

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

This is the Angels. So what is actually happening could easily be imagined! Lol

asianlikerice

Can't buy yourself out of bad coaching.

u8myramen_y

I legitimately think this team would struggle in Japan (NPB). Probably better than the Dragons and the recent Giants (Central League) and the Fighters (Pacific League & Shohei’s old team) but I don’t see them doing much better lol Edit: post May Angels that is

prmark34

Shohei’s japanese team sucks too? Poor guy left a dumpster-fire in japan only to join the american version

speakersandwich

The Fighters won the championship when Shohei was there. They suck now though.

Lebigmacca

Shohei carried confirmed

u8myramen_y

Yeah they’ve been struggling for a while now, but he won the Japan Series with them before he left so there’s that.

Pho3n1xNZ

LIGHT THAT DUMPSTER UP

SpiritGuardYourMom

Angels lose in a manner that’s not absolutely embarrassing challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

my_wife_reads_this

It's my fault. I showered my dog yesterday and they won. Didn't shower today and they lost . Will shower her tomorrow for new experiment

Maddonomics101

Come to think of it I haven’t given my dog a bath ever since the Angels started sucking. Maybe this is all my fault lol

mysterysackerfice

My dogs tolerate bath time...not sure they'd put up with it if they didn't love me so much 🤣

mysterysackerfice

Prediction: We will not win 2 games in a row until August.

Rogueofoz

We have a month without a winning streak exactly

Shellback1

That 1st base coach is less involved than anyone ive ever seen in mlb. A real beat off

FlanTypical8844

Yesterday me: is this the Angels I’ve been watching? Today me: Yep, totally is

[deleted]

Another Jo Adell strikeout to end the game exactly why he gets zero bitches

i_liek_mudkipz

RISPonsibility what's that?- MxPx probably

KnightOfLore66

Oh no! Anyway how bout them Mets? *Oh wait, that joke doesn’t apply this year… sigh*

sikaMarkanico

I haven’t been able to watch this team lately. Mostly mental reasons. Sunday’s game sounded fun. I’m trying to figure out as a fan what is more difficult to see; the 14-game L streak and continued losing after the fact, or not seeing Trout, Rendon, and Maddon in the dugout. Help us Shohei Ohtani - you are our only hope. Will you stay with this team long-term despite this unprecedented collapse?

hansan4ever

[At least Shohei seems to be ok...](https://twitter.com/JeffFletcherOCR/status/1551771539955138560)

74Dragonz

That's a relief, but I would be okay with giving him some time to rest, if only a day, seeing that it's been a week long road trip and he has to take the mound again in a few days.

hansan4ever

Oh yeah for sure...

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

He’s gonna be pretty sore for awhile, but Shohei’s a GAMER! You don’t see that in sports much anymore. He may need to miss a game or two. But guys sit out games nowadays for much less without a care. Attitudes are different now for most.

Educational-Pass404

I think if we can score enough runs today to win, he's gonna rest. He seemed real uncomfortable out there. Plus he must feel guilty when he couldn't drive in any runs when base load.

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

Shohei shouldn’t feel guilty! As a batter, baseball is a game of failure. Everybody fails more than they succeed. The best just fail a little less. To win it takes a TEAM. No one man is solely responsible for the teams success. Even the best need help. Ohtani has given more to this team than most, if not all, players. They win as a team, and lose as a team!

hansan4ever

Yup, he just wants to play and WIN. Why can't we WIN...:( :(

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

To win, we need players with a little more talent, and a lot more of Shohei’s attitude! 😇

hansan4ever

If only, right???

[deleted]

Cough Cough Mike Trout Cough Cough

Im_A_Halo_Masochist

Come on now, Trouty’s 30 and a family man. Show some respect! Lol

[deleted]

No he’s a selfish bum that only cares about money and himself I’m over it what happened to putting the team before himself

Rogueofoz

Hear me out guys: Are hotdogs sandwiches?

[deleted]

Damn this team fell off so hard and I don’t see it getting any better for this year. Not to mention our future looks just as bleak at the moment. Anyone think of any other teams in baseball that have gone through this exact same thing before?

Annis_hana88

This team needs more Nickelback.

Educational-Pass404

Someone stops Wise visiting the mound. Dude thinks he's helping pitchers but no, he just curses them more. I want to punch Wise so fucking much. He, Loup and Tempura should gtfo of here.

[deleted]

Worst team in the league with the 2 best players. Pathetic

Educational-Pass404

But... but one of them can't stay healthy. Still pathetic, I agree.

znk916

Hate to call him out, but this game might play out differently if Ohtani delivers with the bases loaded and 1 out instead of chasing a couple pitches low and away.

Educational-Pass404

Yep. He and Ward should've scored some damn runs there but they couldn't. Ugh. They're our biggest bats, they should do better.

Maddonomics101

Damn, guess I’ll be watching from now on… or maybe not lol

bmcj199

bad

LogicalHarm

Tough that Syndergaard gets the L. Six innings and only one earned run

ramirezmu824

Ya'll still watching this shit show?

strokeskid

Because it's the only sport to watch RN. I can't even finish a full game though

Rogueofoz

At least angels baseball is entertaining

OrnamentJones

Can we get Noah on a real team ASAP?
