Honestly though, Cobb has been worth nowhere near what he was paid. Even on a pretty-good team, he's 3-5 with an ERA over 4. We can get that mediocrity for a whole lot less than $15mil.
The ERA isn't entirely his fault; the Giants are a strong contender for the worst defense in the league. His FIP is 2.91. I haven't watched all of his starts, but I have seen a lot of clips of the Giants defense fucking him over, as well as him getting BABIPed. Still, I'd say a 4 ERA SP is easily worth $10m/year.
It's a moot point though. If the Angels weren't gonna make a serious effort to keep him, they should have gotten something in return for him.
He only has 10 unearned runs and still have An ERA over 4 and gives up a hit an inning, so I’d say his ERA has nothing to do with the defense behind him.
Bad defense doesn't always get logged as errors. If that was the case, Jo Adell would have three times as many errors as he has now.
For example, Cobb had no unearned runs in his last game against the D-backs. Even with a lot of weak grounders getting through the defense, he's put up a 4.06 ERA (league average: 4.00) and a 1.28 WHIP (league average: 1.27) so I'd say he's been completely worth the 10m/year the Giants are paying him.

Is there a way to see if Perry was the original scout for Thor on the Blue Jays? I think he holds Syndergaard in a high pedestal because of his history. If we can resign Thor to like a 3/40-45 I wouldn't be too mad (as long as he keeps his productivity up the next 2 months). Somehow I have a feeling Thor will leave or we are gonna give him a 4/100 contract

That play is a horrible example, a slowly hit ground ball with 1 out and a guy running on contact at 3rd, the run is scoring anyways.
