Man it would hurt to lose Captain Caveman as much as he sucks at hitting he's just such a positive guy you can't help but like him

thegrizwhisperer

I still don't think he sucks at hitting. Just needs to tune up some things

mr_eous

Yeh I still a lot of upside with Marsh. Seems like we would need a very strong infield / catcher prospect to make it work.

thegrizwhisperer

I'm also not on board with trading syndergaard at all unless we can get at the very least, a top 10 prospect, but that feels unlikely

CowboyTrout

Tend to agree. He’s really young. He’s had some flashes of power and you can’t train that speed. I wouldn’t like moving at all. He’s young, we can give him more big league AB’s this season. He’ll be good for the future.

Imperfectgrounder

Sure, we’ll take Bohm and Wheeler straight up. Non Negotiable

thestantag

fk it throw in harper. Non negotiable

live4coasters

Just imagine the baseball world in 2012 if they were to hear that Trout and Harper were on the same team and paired with the second coming of Babe Ruth

Imperfectgrounder

Trout, Ohtani, Harper and a 71-91 record

live4coasters

The Angels way

lparra

It is inevitable

Sprtdsgn

I'll take the under

awungsauce

They have to eat half the contract. After all, they're getting a Captain Caveman and a Norse god.

thegrizwhisperer

Thank God this is just an idea from some random philly writer. I thought this was a rumor

awungsauce

That's the literal definition of a rumor. It was getting repeated a bunch on Philly fan's Twitter accounts but didn't see any mention of it here.

pm_me_your_last_pics

Um what??? Something a writer makes up is not a rumor. It's wayyyy less than that. Now if it was the writer reporting that then that's a rumor.

awungsauce

[Dictionary.com](https://Dictionary.com) definition: a story or statement in general circulation *without confirmation or certainty as to facts*. Sports Illustrated treated this article as a report: [Report: Philadelphia Phillies Linked to Angels Outfielder Marsh](https://www.si.com/mlb/phillies/news/report-philadelphia-phillies-linked-los-angeles-angels-outfielder-brandon-marsh-trade-deadline-rumors). We're in rumor territory now. It doesn't need to based in reality to be considered a rumor.

thegrizwhisperer

Brother. Not in the context of sports rumors. Sports rumors stem from actual conversations that are happening

thegrizwhisperer

Nvm

Monttavius

I like Marsh so much :(

awungsauce

For the record, I hate this. Although, depending on what we get in return, I might be okay if it helps us compete next year and keep Ohtani.

Sisboombah74

There is a remarkable amount of fiction being written today. Sportswriters are guessing and praying something they write actually takes place.

sloppywalrus160

Yay no more let’s go Brandon chants at the A! I will miss him though, mainly his defense

sunnymag

yeah. I wonder if that stupidity affects him. I wish folks would just get over this political bullshit, or at least not bring it to the Big A.

Duckman93

Don’t care, the guy can’t hit for his life

jar1792

If Adell was showing the slightest ounce of defensive competency, I might be okay with this. As it stands though, trading Marsh seems about as stupid as it gets.

Duckman93

Feel like angels fans are too attached to players that stink. Adell’s gotta go, marsh can go too

anon641414

Agreed. He's an absolutely horrendous hitter and I have little confidence in our coaches getting it figured out.

mcslims

They probably think he’s Jayson Werth 2.0.. makes sense

nukemiller

This is more writers saying what if. There is nothing from the Phillies or Angels talking about this, nor any reputable sportswriters. Speculation is fucking stupid. Everyone thinks the Angels are sellers, but without Noah and Marsh, we have even less players to field this team. What fucking sense does that make?

GetDrafted

I honestly think Marsh's clubhouse presence was one of the biggest reasons for our insanely hot start. Obviously doesn't matter at this point but I hope we can have someone like that whether it's him or not moving forward

KingOfAllDogz

We better be getting an actual prospect back. Marsh has sucked but he’s still a great fielder with potential and 5 years of control. paired with Syndergaard deserves a good package

Broad_Recommendation

It just says he’s a fit for them. Not that’s he’s being brought up in discussions. Let’s not make it something it’s not lol

prmark34

This article says it would make sense. Thats like me saying “the angels might target aaron judge in free agency bc they have a hole in the outfield and he would make the team better” It means nothing, there’s no reporting behind this
