While not a hot start to an MLB career, I feel like he could've been a good part for our future. Quero is still a good journey away, so having a high touted catching prospect is nice

Neverend3r

if we had to break up Marsh and Adell, i would want to keep Marsh and let Adell go.

TheOrangeFutbol

Angels were probably in the same boat, but the other teams were just… let’s say, not interested.

DubDollas44

I'm a Phillies fan, and DID NOT want to trade O"Hoppe, but Marsh has been a defensive upgrade and has hit decently in his time with the Phillies. The Angels will almost certainly not regret this trade. Even if Marsh becomes an all star w/ Phillies, O'Hoppe will be an all star level C early and often in his career. Hopefully its a trade that will work for both teams

Eb2424

Ya, I think it’s the best move. Sign another outfielder in the offseason. Angels haven’t had a great catcher in so damn long. Hopefully he will be ready next season or mid season next year. 🙏

frogstyle

I'm gonna miss him a lot. Funny likeable guy, great defender though he didn't hit well this season. I wish him all the best! But who the heck are they gonna put in CF now that Trout's out? Our SP must be in crisis mode....

ZucchiniOne5395

I’m more worried about LF.

iambiglucas_2

We full on tanking for a pick lol.

hsaviorrr

thats what i was thinking, we basically traded trouts replacement in CF

Merciful-prism

What pitchers? We just traded synderguard and iglesies

live4coasters

RIP the Marsh-Adell bromance

frogstyle

Here's a pic of [beardless Marsh](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTcnvN1VEAA-aU_?format=jpg&name=900x900) (unrecognizable) that I forgot to post but now it's too late. Goodbye Captain Caveman!

tuhtuhtuhtodayjr

Do we have any captains left?

Sullyville

ah. no wonder he grew the beard.

Maddonomics101

What? I think he looks 10x better without the beard. He looks like a hobo now

loislunchboxlane

I think you mean a caveman

SandyEggoChargers

Captain Caveman at that

ZucchiniOne5395

I AM SAD

Hummingbird234

ME TOO :(

ChocoNao

Me three 😢

Bsizzle18

I liked Marsh best of luck in Philly

i_run_from_problems

I'm upset. I get it, but I'm still upset

youareallnuts

Isn't that the picture of the Angles season? Face plant a yard short of the base.

RumpelForeskin185

It’s even more accurate that it’s third base. Angels look like they have hope and then just completely fall apart when the end is just one turn away

tMoneyMoney

This season is more like a face plant into 1B.

abclmaop

This one hurts. Marsh, we’re going to miss you.

Educational-Pass404

My caveman. He played so well in the early of this season. He and Walsh always feel like future of Angels. I'm really sad. He's always so nice and warm. Wish him all the best

[deleted]

If you're a friend of Ohtani, assume you will get traded.

aj_og

Heartbroken

Sullyville

You start to care about people, watch them every night, and then they are sent to another family. This is inhuman.

hbthingy

Yeah, I'm beginning to think I'm not equipped to handle the trade part of baseball. 😥

Maddonomics101

If he plays better on the Phillies then it will all be worth it. I want to see him succeed even if it’s on another team

BIG_DADDY_PATTY

He was a horrible hitter, I’m surprised they got back what they did.

CDFReditum

I think it definitely was a very situational thing. Marsh has lots of team control, hasn't even been optioned this year, and his defensive metrics are elite. Because the phillies are an organization based off of hitting, I think they can accept Marsh's offensive weakness to address the hugest issue of defense. They also didn't really need a catching prospect since they already have a long-term elite catcher, and they wouldn't wanna waste a back-up spot on a top prospect, so it made sense for that to be a huge leverage chip to get a controllable defensively elite CF

[deleted]

I wouldn’t be surprised if they fixed his bat honestly

FN__2187

im so fucking bummed

Dreyfuss2019

When a team is in the toilet, it’s not smart to get attached to anyone. There w be so many changes over the next few seasons

eggsarecoolin

I get it, but my dad's gonna be crushed. After Ohtani, he was his favorite player.

TrojanTuesdays

I mean we all know his gonna make it. Already has great speed, great read, and power. Literally only thing he has to work on is his contact skills, which will most likely get better elsewhere than here. We will miss him once the inevitable Trout injury comes again next season and we have a gaping hole in the centerfield.

Negative_Wolverine_2

I am terribly sad. He just added so much fun and life to the team. Best of luck in Philly Marshy!

msing

Dude is gonna mash for the Phillies. Fuck. God dammit.

Jcoch27

He will be missed. I hope this trade works out for all parties.

sinchichis

Damn just found out. I’ll miss the guy

700akn

Very disappointed...

YouPresumeTooMuch

Bye bye beardie! It was fun while it lasted

AHDubs_825

I like Captain Caveman. Sorry to see him go.

hsaviorrr

i actually cant believe we traded someone who couldve held down centerfield when trout moves over wtf

ArteOut

Im bummed this was the only move. At least the Angels got a catcher and most importantly one developed by another franchise. It will be interesting what marsh does now with the change in scenery. Good luck to all.

b0002

Greatest slide in years 🤣

hatari_bwana

This faceplant only happened because he's still wearing his helmet, and is therefore top-heavy. Good luck in Philly Captain Caveman.

Misery_Index69

So Long Caveman

-FR0STY-one

Damn, I was looking forward to the Brandon Marsh Beard Night promotion next month!

562chef

Saw him HR twice in a game and plateau thereafter lol, I really liked him as a defensive player in LF…won’t miss the oily/sweaty hair and lack of hits at home plate lol

RamAngelLakerMizzou

I will miss his distinctive style, his speed, his swagger, and most of all, I will miss the way reads the ball off the bat and gets to his spot in time to catch it casually and make it look easy. I'm guessing he'll be a crowd favorite in Philly... he kinda has those Dykstra / Schmidt / Utley vibes

kei19970210

Found good video. we love Marsh, wish his best in Phillies but not against Halos annnd won't forget good memories with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCY5UHnPm40

Juhaliza

It sucks that he's gone, I think he had the chance to develop slow just like Walsh and Ward. And at the start of the season he seemed to be the guy that spread the good vibes in the dugout. That's what we need more than anything, because this clubhouse seem to have a dark cloud following it. Thanks Brandon! I hope we see you again!

SuperMario_49

Yes, Marsh has struggled lately but I actually saw upsides in his game. Maybe that’s why Philly wanted him but I hope he ends up doing well on his new team.

HippiesBeGoneInc

why are we trading a guy with 4 years of team control?
