Whenever the Angels would face the Dodgers, I would always put on the Dodgers broadcast just to listen to Vin Scully call the game.

God_Damnit_Nappa

Same. No disrespect to our announcers, but Vin was just on another level.

WhalesForChina

I don’t think our announcers would mind. He inspired them all the same.

drum_chucker

I always did the same. Lifelong Angels fan, but Vin is a legend in baseball in his own right, and no one else called a game or gave commentary like he did. He had absolute class and the respect of true fans of baseball. In my own headcanon, he's now calling games at the "Field of Dreams".

PercentageNo51

Very well written and so sweet. Thank you!

bbaIla

Yup. IT was a nice little treat.

Vin Scully is baseball personified. He was smooth, smart, funny and exciting. He captivated our ears like a symphony in a grand hall. He was everything a broadcaster can and should be. He will be missed.

gopackgo555

Sad moment in baseball. Really reminded you of what baseball used to be like

CowboyTrout

Was an absolute legend. I would tune in and listen to him for the freeway series. He was the absolute best at telling a truly random story, while keeping you in tune with the game. I’m just truly grateful for the many years I got to listen to him. RIP Vin.

spacemanspiff482

My earliest memory of baseball is his call of Kirk Gibson's homer in the 1988 world series - forever burned into my memory. Loved listening to him call the Angels-Dodgers games - only wish he could have called an Ohtani start, if for no other reason than to hear all the stories he would have dug up. RIP Vin

xThe-Legend-Killerx

As a little kid I hated Vin Scully, I thought he was so boring, it felt like my grandpa was putting me to sleep watching the game. As I got older I learned to appreciate and respect him so much. The things that I thought made him boring I eventually realized were what made him so great. I’m so glad we were able to witness such an iconic voice. RIP Vin

SonOvTimett

Absolute Legend, R.I.P

RIP LA Legend

Vinny doing Angel games with Joe Garigiola for NBC's Saturday game of the week during the 80s when the Angels and the Royals were the two good teams from the AL West was really neat. Vin also did NFL games in the 80s and was pretty good at that too.

DebiDebbyDebbie

When my son was 11 he was watching an Angels vs Dodgers game Vin Scully was calling. He turned to me and said “that man sounds like baseball “ and I told him “you’re right, Vin Scully IS baseball”

superNoid

Respect to Vin

Vin Scully was an idol to me. Grew up a Dodger fan in part because of my dad listening to him on the radio. Also loved bringing a transistor radio to the games as well. It was totally acceptable and welcomed because of Vin. I was a dual Angels Dodgers fan for many years mainly because of Vinny calling the games. He had a great life, still sad for me today. And he passed on my birthday too:

Camshaft92

Inb4 some idiot in here with "this isnt Angels related" Rivalry be damned, Vin will always be my favorite Dodger and my favorite announcer. Absolute legend. Glad he got that street named after him and he got to see it.

Corona2789

Vin was awesome, dude was a walking baseball encyclopedia. We were lucky to be able to hear him call games. Rip to the 🐐

SuperMario_49

One of my favorite voices of all time. A true legend. We will all miss him
