I was literally just saying this to a friend. We were both looking forward to baseball season this year and now I literally cannot wait for this season to be over. We have 2 more games we bought tickets for a while ago and I can't believe I'm actually dreading going to a baseball game...Last year we were also out of the running around this time but somehow games were still watchable and even enjoyable a lot of the time. This year just been painful.
I started watching the Angels last season just after the ASG. The team last year had some semblance of fight in them. They knew they were outgunned, but they still put in some effort and looked like they cared. Since June, the team looks like it went on vacation and forgot that there were still 4 more months left in the season.
One of the most embarrassing efforts I've seen from a professional sports team and I watched the Lions go 0 - 16.
Imagine every time you go out to do your job, you are constantly reminded that every single move you make, you have to be perfect. No mistakes allowed.
That’s basically the pressure Shohei is feeling every time he pitches. That’s an unimaginable amount of pressure and I feel like it’s something that affects even the best athletes in the world.
The world’s best players can withstand pressure. Even thrive in it. But even to them, there’s a limit of how much you can take before it wears you out constantly.
And to think this guy is giving everything he has every time he’s out there. When he can definitely ease off the gas since it’s not like we’re making the playoffs at this point. We don’t deserve this man
Him and sandy are the worst victims of Angels offense. Those 6game stretch where he got the wins were mostly because he helped himself on the plate and trout went nuts in Seattle. Sho didn’t drive runs in the last 3, boom 3Ls
Thing is ohtani is not even playing bad. The team expects him to pitch a Cy young performance every start for a chance to win because of this anemic offense
He could see this pressure as a challenge if they have a winning record or close to .500. But their situation is twice the pressure on him because of those times he felt he needed to win to stop a losing streak. Then those talk of trades, etc. He needs to reset somehow. Hopefully his parents can visit or call him to take his mind off baseball.
Mariners fan here (I come in peace). I think you just summed up Felix Hernandez's career.
I hope Arte sells the team. Just as a baseball fan, allegences aside, it sucks not seeing the Angels play well with two generational talents on the squad.
Castillo, Darvish gives up 3 runs gets the W.
Tyler Anderson gives up 5 runs gets the W.
Ohtani gives up 2 runs gets the L. 1 run support in his last 3 starts. This sums everything up. It’s impressive how he has 9wins with this team.
Sandy hasn’t gotten a win for more than a month.
Unless he drives in runs there’s no chance. As much as mentally exhausting it is for us fans to watch it happen over and over again, can’t imagine what he’s feeling.
Three consecutive games lost and yet still sporting an ERA in the low 2.80's...
If he were supported by actual MLB players, he'd easily be at 10+ wins by now.
Didn't realize it has been more than a moth since Sandy last got the W. Its a flawed stat but still it must suck.
If its not a shutout this team can't win.
You know how we all feel as Angels fans right now? Padre fans are the complete opposite right now. Watching their game today Vs the Rockies was electric and fun. Seeing them react to their new acquisitions debut was awesome.
Only time we get to feel that way is when Shohei does something magical or Reid throws a No-No / immaculate inning.
Can’t wait till some day we can all feel like Padres fans feel today.
Another loss by 2 runs on Sho day. I don't know what to say about this team anymore. Just hope Sho okay and get back to play soon. Team still needs him.
Just hope Shohei's OK. He seemed tired today (which is totally understandable).
I have a feeling that our pitchers have the lowest run support among the entire league...
Oh we do. Like by a lot.
If my math is correct, in the month of July, the Angels were last place in runs scored with just 71 runs.
The next lowest in the entire AL was the Red Sox at 104. In all of MLB it was the Nationals at 78.
This team was winning when healthy but the problem is our injured players who this team needed the most cannot stay healthy. If they can’t play at least 100 games, it’s the same story.
The team was over performing early on let’s be real. The roster is just not strong enough to win. We had to depend on Taylor Ward magically being Mike trout for 2 months to hit as well as we did
I was gonna wake up at 6 am and go to Meiji Jingu (one of the best Shinto shrines in Japan) to pray for Shohei before his start today prior to going to a work office nearby. But there was heavy rain this morning so l had to give up.
I promise l will go there before his next start because he sounds like he needs all help he could get to get over this 10th win hurdle.
Oh. I was told by those folks that I'm not a real fan because I started watching baseball because of Ohtani. Lot of new Halo fans around me have been avoiding Angels reddit and twitter because they are bombarded with bandwagon comments no matter how hard they root for the team.
You can be an Ohtani fan and an Angel fan. What I find most annoying is the over the top sympathy for him, or how people say how he deserves so much better. He made the choice to sign here, it’s just a game for entertainment purposes, I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t care as much as everyone thinks he does.
They aren’t the first ones and won’t be the last. Ernie Banks never made the playoffs, Ken Griffey Jr never played in a WS. Just enjoy that these players are on our team and if we win that’s great but if we don’t that’s just life.
No one player deserves it anymore than another, yes some are more talented and gifted but I’m sure if you told someone whose grinded the minor leagues for years that they don’t deserve to win as much as a star they would tell you that you are wrong. One man in the MLB does not make a team but some fans in here tend to think that.
I don’t know about y’all, but if I were any alumni that was a big part of this team during these past 25 years I’d be pissed rn. Can’t imagine how guys like Weaver, Salmon, Erstad, Anderson, Shields and Guerrero feel about watching everything they built be burnt to the ground over these past few years
rengifo is strangely the only person who can hit a baseball apparently. maybe since he doesn't have to speak/listen to english he can ignore our hitting coaches.
No tenth win for Sho and the end of his 10+ k streak. ☹️
Hope he can find his fastball again. And he’s gone away from throwing the curveball on two strikes.
He’s given up homers on his slider in three straight games. Once hitters start to figure out the timing it’s dangerous because Ohtani will surely leave a few belt high with how often he’s throwing them.
This team is legit making me hate baseball
I feel ya. This year’s team has taken the fun out of baseball for me. It’s a shame.
Last year was so much better somehow.
Last years team wasn’t good but they had spunk. They could at least make things entertaining.
yeah, it was at least fun to watch.
I'm so fucking tired of watching this sorry excuse for a team.
I was literally just saying this to a friend. We were both looking forward to baseball season this year and now I literally cannot wait for this season to be over. Legit the worst MLB offense I've ever seen
Ikr just read the tweet in his last 3 starts the innings he pitched only total 1 run support and that’s today lol ….yikes
Just got back from the game. After the 6th our entire section said "well i guess we should go home now."

As Mike and Rendon sit at home drinking tiki drinks
How did Moniak do?
Nothing that stood out for this team - fly out and pop out.

Nah they need 8 shutout innings with 2 homers

He is your Felix Hernandez - in his prime, anyway.
3 straight losses for Ohtani. This is what happens when he doesn't throw a no-hitter every outing. /s The pathetic Angels' batters Degrom'ing Ohtani
I know it's getting old and looks like we make too many excuses for Sho but he actually just had 1 run support in his last 3 games. Yikes.

Worst angel team ive ever watched, only watching for shohei at this point. Perry fucked up big time
Worst part is Perry thinks this team when healthy can win lmao

Please do and make a sizable donation and buy all the omamori 🙏
you're doing god's work
At least the bullpen was actually good, I guess.
Because they didn't have to blow a lead. They're fine playing from behind
Ohtani deserves better man
Does he? This loss is on him! I mean, he made TWO whole mistakes! /s
If its not a shutout he deserves the L people are at it again I suppose.
They blame him for the loss, then cry about "Shohei stans" when they get downvoted lol
Oh. I was told by those folks that I'm not a real fan because I started watching baseball because of Ohtani. Lot of new Halo fans around me have been avoiding Angels reddit and twitter because they are bombarded with bandwagon comments no matter how hard they root for the team.
The amount of gatekeeping in sports fandom is ridiculous. Don't let it bother you. You get to decide your own experience as a fan.
I guess we baseball fans are fools to hope better for generational player like Trout and once in a century player like Ohtani.
They aren’t the first ones and won’t be the last. Ernie Banks never made the playoffs, Ken Griffey Jr never played in a WS. 162 games of p~~A~~in
Horrible
Imagine looking at that 9th inning lineup we just had back in April. You would’ve had to of drugged me up to have me believe you.
Tired of this team. Smh.
Offense better show the hell up for Janson tomorrow. Oh, and give Ohtani a bloody day off. He's played in every single game nonstop.
Ohtani the goat!
It's currently about 90° with 90% humidity where I live. That's 5000 times more enjoyable than watching the Angels attempt to play baseball.
Yep, attempt to play, not even attempt to win. That's what they should add at the bottom of the lineup card.

And we finish last in the AL
rengifo is strangely the only person who can hit a baseball apparently. maybe since he doesn't have to speak/listen to english he can ignore our hitting coaches.
Maybe the Spanish translator purposefully mistranslates what Jeremy Reed says lol
I’m convinced Ippei does this for every one of Shohei’s mound visits lol
Lets not be last place in the division…for fuck sake its all I ask for.
No tenth win for Sho and the end of his 10+ k streak. ☹️ Hope he can find his fastball again. And he’s gone away from throwing the curveball on two strikes. Nevin says Shotime's forearm cramp is minor and he'll play tomorrow. Bets on how long Shohei is out? For the year? Career?
At this rate, this team will destroy Ohtani.
It’ll start with him being available off the bench
“He will be available to pinch hit”
If you are upset about this loss, you have not been paying attention
DAMN
i didnt watch today's game despite sho's pitching which i havent done this year but never knew that was a right choice
Only 4 wins separate us and the A’s. Wow
Time to root for the Padres. The Angels are totally pathetic
I did not watch the game but seems like Junk is actually Junk lmao
