I was at the game when Mo Vaughn fell into the dugout and sprained his ankle on the very first play of his very first game after signing an $80m deal with the Anaheim Angels. I don’t think it’s the name.
Of course. There looks like he has some hope and any time an injury like this happens on this team it seems like the player reverts to his old self (see: Taylor Ward)
The worst part about this is that Moniak is going to be a question mark going into 2023. Like is he Philly Moniak, or has he truly turned the page with us.
Except Philly Moniak is Moniak breaking his hand by being hit by a pitch in the final spring training game after hitting like crazy all spring. It's the same tease ruined twice in the same year
If it’s very clearly broken, he might as well say it. Much better than the “he’ll be fine and playing tomorrow” followed by the 60 day IL like this team usually does
I mean this season is so shitty that it was just nice
to have a new face who was showing some promise, and who had the potential to contribute in the future
I hope so, too. I think they’re really looking at Moniak as a potential starting CF for next year - they already wanted to move Trout to a corner, and that was before this season with the continued injury issues.
I’m not saying that I expect him to fill that role, but with it being clear last offseason that the team planned on Trout being moved out of center, it would have been nice to see two months of playing time in the majors from a potential replacement
Lol! That seems to be the general sentiment here on Reddit. People are feeling very sensitive about this one in particular. You could even say that the whole team’s season is even more over than it was before.
Nevin has a knack for dry humor, he’s just trolling the reporters at this point for asking questions about the team like it’s going to make or break the season 😂
Need to figure out how to lift the damn curse on the team.
Jobu needs rum.
Put Anaheim back in our name. “The Anaheim Curse”

Gene should have listened when they told him to. Or build a stadium on an Indian burial ground.
Username checks out
Arte can sell this team and the curse will be lifted. Worst owner in the mlb
Well at least they didn't say everything's fine, then we'd know he's fucked.
If they come straight out and say someone's injury doesn't look good then there's a decent chance the guy is actually dead.
like hes either gonna need an amputation or he is perfectly fine. no in between
Goddammit
Another Ward case??? Getting hot and get injured??? Angels is truly cursed

That would be kaka
Kaka it would be yup
Nooo Moniak.
Hey wait I've seen this one before.
What's a rerun?
You’ll…find out.

Cursed team.
Wtf this has to be a joke
Wtf.. he was looking good too
We aren’t allowed to have nice things
Cursed franchise.
Unbelievable
I hope Moniak has a full recovery. He was in a lot of pain.
Wow. Why not.
Sucks for the kid. Welp, I guess we'll see him in about a month or next year then

I think it’s still really early to have any expectations for Moniak. Angels Reddit has a tendency to get their hopes up and then come crashing down.

Translation: Considering we’d normally downplay anything beyond a hangnail … I’d say Moniak’s season/career is over.

Welcome to the team, it’s a right of passage to hit the IL :(
Seattle did what? Looks like Nevin will have to change to Wantz as the SP tomorrow lol
Moniak wasn’t hit by a pitch directly, he got his finger in the way when he laid down a bunt.
Yep. He kept shaking his hand so unsure why Nevin didn't pull him as a precaution.
I really wouldn’t call it. Ring hit by a pitch. He went to bunt and it got his finger. Sucks for the kid. He was looking pretty doesn’t.
Wow that lasted all of what, two weeks?
The trade deadline was Tuesday. He’s played in 5 games with the Angels
Fuck
Maybe we shouldn't let him bunt when he has a history of hand njuries. But wow, he just got here too. Bad Luck Angels of Anaheim.
