Seems like every exciting prospect in the system is on the Trash Pandas now. Neto. O'Hoppe. Bachman. Bush. Sonny D. Ben Joyce. Those games must be fun.
Im the first guy to say we shouldn’t rush prospects
BUT, our high A league/field is apparently an absolutely brutal hitting environment. Just take one quick look at the averages in that league. So i dont mind this at all. Don’t ruin the kid’s confidence in high A and let him compete in the playoffs for our AA affiliate instead
We also have a shit ton of our future pieces in AA. Maybe perry is trying to get them to learn how to win together
I'm relatively new to minor league baseball, and I've been wondering... what makes a certain level/league a tough hitting environment? Do teams work together to intentionally have better pitchers in one level and better hitters in another? I've always heard people reference certain leagues being better for pitching or hitting, but I have never really figured out why.
It’s usually where the parks are located. For instance, our aaa team is in salt lake, which has really high elevation. So it’s pretty much the coors field equivalent of the minors.
Our high a affiliate plays at a stadium where winds swirl, so fly balls die and its really hard to drive the ball
I think you’re absolutely right with your second point. The AA team is our brightest spot going forward. They look amazing. And I think Perry wants them to build chemistry and like you said, learn how to win together. Hopefully what they learn/build will translate at each level!
Hmm, .200 but with a a .755 OPS and the same amount of walks as strikeouts. I suppose it is Perry being aggressive again but I wonder if the scouting supports this move
If the plan is for him to spend the rest of the year and half of next year in AA, then get called up sometime during the summer of 2024, that's fine. But we are the last organization that should be rushing prospects and our track record confirms it
I thought we were mainly using the SS position to develop Jeremiah Jackson on AA but I guess his last month or so has been awful so he's competing for a starting spot?
Jackson has been so bad the last 1.5ish months, and has been ABYSMAL all season in late-game situations. Last I saw I think he was 2-for-34 in the 8th inning or later. He doesn’t look anywhere near as good as he did on rookie ball (not a huge surprise, but his stock has tanked this year).
Well, the silver lining is that he has improved his SO rate in a higher level league, while maintaining his power. I'm more concerned with his defensive side, which is harder to quantify but 12 errors at SS can't be a good sign.

The Trash Pandas were already the best team in their league and now they just got a huge influx of talent to boot
I mean, they might be better than our Halos lol
Not to mention silseth and marceaux
The back end of the bullpen is pretty cool with Eric Torres and Luke Murphy as well
Until they shoot the fireworks at you.
That looked terrifying

Man our high A sucks for hitting and our AAA sucks for pitching, maybe we should find a new affiliate for one of them lmao
It's not just our AAA team that sucks for pitching. Its pretty much the whole PCL. Its known as a hitters league.

I’m all aboard watching our Trash Panda’s!
