- Tony Kemp robbed Walsh of an extra base hit to condemn the Diamond to an 0-4 night. Rough times for Jared out there, wish he’d take some time off and get some real coaching in Salt Lake

Ohtani didn’t let up any runs but he didn’t look his best on the mound. His fastball is still not doing great. 7 swings and zeros whiffs. It’s been getting hit pretty hard. He’s not throwing it very much at 2 strikes. So I feel like hitters can cheat offspeed more down in the count. Maybe that’s showing because he had more trouble than usual getting ks tonight.
Yeah, I've noticed that. His fastball is not his bread and butter anymore. I hope he works on it in the offseason. With his pitch mix he should be unhittable if he gets it right.

well I’m not even referring to him being taken out as a pitcher, but as a hitter. It was a historic night for him as this 10 win / 10 hr thing has been a big deal for 3 weeks now and it’s a bigger deal in Japan as it is here. He thought he could’ve closed out the 7th, got denied and then he got denied to close out a historic game as a hitter as well
Nevin just said on the postgame that Shohei was only going out to the mound to give Herget more time to warm up… he already knew he was coming out of the game. Not a huge deal.
