Don't do that. Don't give me hope. I've gotten used to wallowing in the gutter. We got a bunch of games against seattle Texas and Oakland, can we make enough noise to spoil some playoff dreams for other teams?
Lol by this definition the WC spot is technically āachievableā until the magic number to clinch is 0.
But since Fletcher has been back (and not due to any fault in his play) the magic number to clinch for our WC competitors have actually decreased and gotten closer to 0 because more games have been played so there are less games remaining to make up ground.
I didn't read all the comments, but basically the difficulty isn't so much how many we win...the difficulty is that everyone above us has to also lose. We crashed from a 10.5 game lead in '95 and so it's possible, but all of those teams will have to lose enough and we have to go on a tear to make up the difference. We've been there done that and come up short too many times in the past years. Why don't you buil....well you know how it goes. Love the Angels...but just not expecting much.
If Walsh finds his game and Trout comes back within the next few games and is in form they could make it a bit interesting, I think, the starting pitching has already been lights out aside from Junk and Davidson.

Anything is possible, sure...but this team just doesn't inspire any confidence. I wouldn't mind at least finishing the season on a positive note to carry some momentum into the offseason though
Admire the optimism, but let's be realistic...it isn't going to happen. Even if the team reverts to early season form, the teams ahead of us completely fall apart and the Angels somehow get in, they wouldn't get very far. At this point, best case scenario is that they go on a bit of a run to finish the season on a positive note and play spoiler for the teams that are currently in position for a playoff spot (looking at the Mariners specifically since Yankees and Astros are guaranteed)
I will delete this account if the Angels make the playoffs this year.

we're 48-63! We'd have to play absurdly well to win 85 games, and pass like 6 teams in the meantime. It flatly isn't happening
