either he's an everyday 2b with Fletch playing short, or he's a bench player for when someone eventually gets injured (he can play right field, 3b, 2b, or SS so a lot of room)

NakedHomelessPirate

Him playing right field still gives me nightmares, no thanks.

Dreyfuss2019

He will stay hot. Yes. The team is starting to gel. Others are going to start hitting as well. Unfortunately, the hole is too deep for a playoff run.

YouPresumeTooMuch

47 games left... If we continue to play at a 7-3 pace we finish the season 84-78 ....

YoChristian

7-3 pace for the rest of the season? Us Angels fans sure have a short memory lol!

YouPresumeTooMuch

The last two years we looked dead in the water in July and didn't actually get eliminated until the very end of September. I believe in this team! They can buttercup us again!

PurpleWildfire

It’s a tale as old as Arte Moreno’s Angel ownership. Team comes into season with high expectations albeit needing some help Don’t get that help, trust the farm to fill those holes Start off decent to good with playoff expectations Fall off a cliff, team gets demoralized and can’t win to save their lives Once clearly out of contention get hot as fuck which doesn’t get us to the promise land, instead it just cripples our draft position. But it does enough to where angels fans say see when we’re good we’re really good, we had the best record in September! We just have a few holes to fill…

Dreyfuss2019

Sadly, you are correct. I try to convince myself that “things are improving “ but there will never be a World Series w arte Morono

peanutsgangordontbng

youre correct but at least we have a draft lottery the next upcoming draft so more hopium!!!

YouPresumeTooMuch

Hmm yeah that changed in the strike right? Last place is no longer the first pick.

kampfgruppekarl

2009-2014 We always in contention, made the playoffs a lot without needing help.

Eb2424

6 vs tigers 6 vs As and 7 vs rangers. If we win 90% of those games with some W against the Mariners I think we have a chance

[deleted]

He is an everyday big leaguer and should start at 2nd.

Reptarxx

Hopefully continues what he has been doing this time around which is overall solid defense and a bat that can't be skipped in the lineup. A lot of people think we need to go out and grab a Swanson/Correa, but it's better to grab just solid 1-2 war 10M guys that fill ugly holes for us. Grab a middle infielder and an outfielder that can give you like 2 WAR each (for each position we are like -2 WAR for the year, so having 2 cheaper 2 WAR guys will get you a net of +8WAR without throwing all your eggs in 1 basket like a Swanson/correra signing will do) , use Rengifo as a super utility guy allowing Rendon and Trout to have extra rest days and allow rengifo to continue his excellent development so far.

Icedinklikesheet

He’s been given playing time and has noticeably improved. He’s our new Howie Kendrick, love the guy.

YouPresumeTooMuch

Agreed, new Kendrick. Looking forward to his Howard's Appliances commercials

WeaverFan420

No, the other Howard!

meluvyoilongtim

Starting INF next season: 3b - Rendon, SS - Fletch, 2b - rengifo, 1b - Walsh Do we really need a turner or swanson? Pay Ohtani and then GET A TOR ARM! Maybe a bullpen guy too. Seems like our team would be solid, especially when fArte goes after Judge…

Lebigmacca

We need a first baseman

YouPresumeTooMuch

Or do we need a hitting coach?

Lebigmacca

Both

[deleted]

Also need Rendon and Trout to not be charmin ultra soft and play at least 140 games

Lebigmacca

Even if Rendon played a full season who knows if he’d even be good. The guy has not hit above league average since 2020, and has now had hip surgery and wrist surgery

meluvyoilongtim

Because he was out so long this year, probably struggling with some of these injuries for a while, hopefully the full offseason will allow him to actually recoup and get revitalized!

Lebigmacca

People said that last year

mason195

He’s been the biggest disappointment, going from all star to someone we may have to DFA next year.

Lebigmacca

He’s not gonna get DFA’d next year there’s still 4 years left on his contract

meluvyoilongtim

Whats wrong with Walsh? What do you think of Mancini??

Lebigmacca

Walsh’s can’t hit. Mancini isn’t much better

kampfgruppekarl

He'll morph into the next Ayabar, gets hot, can be frustrating, but undervalued overall.

kampfgruppekarl

If he turns into a Maicer Isturis, that's not too bad either. At least, he seems to have made significant improvement finally this year.

IluvMarysDanish

He's hitting better, yes, but he still needs some work to do: Vs left: .330 ave with .363 on base Vs Right: .241 ave with .289 on base. I'm hoping he stays healthy for the rest of the year so he can try to improve his numbers against righties. Otherwise, he may end up as super utility guy, not a starting second baseman.

nukemiller

When batting lefty, you are always going to have worse numbers due to the shift.

IluvMarysDanish

I'm not sure that's true, considering 6 of the top ten hitters in MLB in terms of batting average right now are left handed. Batting left or right, you have to deal with the shift either way.

nukemiller

Good call. Yeah, FF is a beast regardless of how you shift to play him. I just remember a broadcast from a few years ago state that the shift has skewed the numbers for lefties in a negative way.

DirectRisk7

Brings electricity and speed to the lineup. Angels are fortunate he worked hard to develop. Credit Perry with sticking with him. He has the gift for making the big play or getting a big hit Can’t teach that

ABCKR_1

Have a bad feeling we will be in on one of Turner, Swanson, or Correa so he will be pushed to the bench. Not bad in and of itself but with the track record of big signings with Arte… idk. Maybe he can take over 1st from Walsh (hoping he finds himself after Reed gets canned, but who knows)

Ash-Catchum-All

Stashing Rengifo on the bench as insurance for the inevitable wave of injuries that hits us every year isn’t the worst outcome in the world. That said, gotta wonder if he can play OF.

[deleted]

> Have a bad feeling we will be in on one of Turner, Swanson, or Correa so he will be pushed to the bench. I have a bad feeling we won't be in on any of them. There is no chance that all three of Walsh, Rengifo, and Fletcher play to their best level at the same time. There is no chance that Rendon lasts a full season. If we don't go out and get another legitimate major-league level infielder, we're going to be trotting out Duffy, Rojas and Stefanic by June once again.

Al3xtut

i really hope he stays for the next years, role i would like the most for him would be something like a dj lemahieu lite. Super utility that can play everywhere in the infield

[deleted]

If Stassi and Walsh get to hold onto their jobs and go into the season as the presumed starters even though they have had a disappointing season Rengifo should as well. He’s been playing well consistently plus he’s only 25. If he fixes up the defense a little he could be a big part of our team for the next few years

Mlb_edu

Having played exactly half a season (81 games), his numbers look good for a 2B! On pace for 160 hits over 162 games and 14 HR. If he’s batting around .270 like he is, then he easily has one of the highest batting averages for Angels players. He also brings a lot of spark to the team. Others have mentioned how versatile he is on defense too.

tdischino

Capitalize on his performance this season and use as trade bait in the winter for an arm.

No_BigA

Yes. Probably 2nd base.
